  1. I think we all know that's a possibility with a 5th rd pick. But as many have noted, he will come cheaper than a veteran, and if he can perform adequately, he will make the cut.
  2. Yep. He will only see the field on special teams, this season.
  3. This hints at my biggest problem with Ryan. He stakes his reputation on the defense ("we will have the best defense, period"), and the offense get neglected. I was expecting Whaley to counteract that in the draft, but it doesn't look like he will. The defense was already superb, the offense had all kinds of problems. Still does.
  4. Yeah, but at least go Best Offensive Player". I can;t imagine that there wasn't an offensive player with a similar ranking.
  5. Nope. There is just no way to know whether or not he will have a good season right now. Nothing more to discuss.
  6. Why would they sign him, if he can't possibly fit their scheme? This is all pre-season talk....we won't really know until the season plays out, will we? I'm on record as believing he will do well. We can revisit this discussion as the season unfolds. Thank you very much.
  7. Looks like you were right Promo. Message me your address, and I will send you your prize...a "New England Patriots, 2014 NFL Champions" t-shirt.
  8. I'm not sure if this is directed at me or not, but I didn't claim it was a genius move. I think the article is crap, but I do expect Chandler to do well in NE.
  9. They may have made bad decisions, but they didn't sign those guys not expecting them to play. I don't think that the Pats signing Chandler means he is now good. I think he was a good player already. There is a difference. You are implying that he sucks, and that they signed him without intending to use him.
  10. What are we betting will/won't happen, and what does the winner get?
  11. So the Pats just toss money around, and Chandler got in the way? I think Belichick likes some of the things Chandler can do, and signed him to do them. And I don't see Gronkowski playing a full season, or not having debilitating injury issues at points in the season. I'm not afraid to go anywhere on this board.
  12. I guess it's trolling to suggest that Chandler might have a good year with the Patriots? What are you afraid of?
  13. I can't see them just sitting around all night. I don't think they will try to move up into the first round, but some other kind of involvement, a third party in a trade or something. I don't think Whaley and Ryan can help themselves, they will have to get involved tonight.
  14. Where did I say every move they have made has been great? I mentioned that Belichick has a good idea what Chandler is capable of, and that basically, I trust his assessment more than a bunch of bitter clowns on a Bills forum. I don't see what the pre-Belichick Pats have to do with this discussion. I guess we shall all know the answer after this season, huh? Painting me as a Patriots fan because I don't buy into Deflate Gate is simplistic, and the insults haven't been very clever. They really just show the sad depth of your bitterness.
  15. I have many Pats memories....Super Bowls, embarrassing trouncings of my team for over a decade. Standing in an LA sports bar while the hundred or so people there laughed at me and my Bills, as the Pats ran up the score. What a joke those Pats are, huh?
  16. This will be a nice thread to revisit later, during the season. I'll mark it on my calendar. A Doctor's appointment...
  17. (sigh) You two were compelled to respond, yet that is the best you can do? Regardless, Belichick will know how to get the best out of him.
  18. Chandler was a good TE with some limitations, but people here love to complain. Belichick has game-planned to face the Bills with Chandler twice a year, for a number of seasons now...I think he knows way more about Chandler's abilities than anyone on this board.
  19. He is going to have a very good year with the Pats.
  20. To me, if the guy isn't worthy of a 3rd round pick, I wouldn't bother. How can someone say "yeah, I like this guy, he could be the one...but only in the 5th." If you are a team that is set at QB, I can understand that approach, but if your team is adrift at QB you are probably going to have to reach. I don't think a 3rd is a huge risk. But again, if the guy isn't at all worthy of a 3rd round selection, don't bother.
  21. These days, the Pac 12 is on par with the Big 10. Oregon, USC, UCLA, Stanford...those are pretty good football schools. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865615523/College-football-Which-conference-produces-the-most-NFL-talent.html?pg=all
  22. This is the kind of hypothetical question that Schopp and the Bulldog pose to their listeners, and blather about for an entire day's show (or even better, for the rest of the week).
  23. Yep, Tommie B sure done showed him!
