My prediction: It's going to be Tyrod.
Prickly Pete replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, I expect a little bit better. I think they will get a wild card, so it's progress. But I expect similar frustrations. And though Ryan is a better coach than Marrone, some of his faults are going to hurt this team too. What they make up in one area, they might lose in others. This team appears to have more volatile players, so we have to see how well they deal with having a crap QB holding back the team. Better players on this team for sure, but maybe not better "team players". There will be plenty of situations that could bring on an implosion. -

I think they should cut the 3rd QB, and use his spot for another field goal kicker. They will need to be more solid at kicker than QB. It's going to be brutal, and a lot like last season. -
Raiders East; sign Aldon Smith

Why do you want to cast the Bills under the Raiders on the marquee? No deference to the Raiders is needed. -
What a Cast of Characters
Prickly Pete replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I think it is funny that Ryan picked up the Jawbreaker, I'm not really on board with the mix of "characters". On a team that looks to be loaded with talent, ready to contend, but with 3 crappy QB's, I anticipate some ugly locker room conflict ahead. Whoever the QB is (they all suck at about the same level), he will be holding back the team, and it's not gonna be pretty. Even if the conflict doesn't seem to relate directly to the QB, if they are losing frustrating games, there is going tension, and too many guys that don't deal with it well. This has been a problem with Rex Ryan teams, and while some people here think it will be cool for the team to be "relevant" to the media, I think it's a stupid way to build a team. Thank You. -
EJ as Evaluated by FSU fans - Caution: pretty brutal

I think it is spot on...and I still think he is the best QB on the team. Sad, really. -
Bills training camp practice 8/11

Cassel is starting this week in the preseason game. It makes sense to me that for this week, Cassel would be treated as "the starter", and work with the 1st team most. -

I can't recall a guy that blew games in the last 10 minutes as often as Fits. Great guy, some nice stats to pull you in, but blows it in the clutch. Just so disheartening, that I don't want him anywhere near this team. -
Matt Cassel to start Panthers Preseason game 1
Prickly Pete replied to Beef Jerky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They need to select the guy that can operate in the red zone the best. I don't think any of these guys is going to sustain long drives, or throw the ball downfield very well. This team has moved the ball reasonably well, but has had to settle for field goals way too much. With this defense, they are going to get lots of short field opportunities. I have no idea which guy has shown better red zone skills, but that should be the determining factor. -
Matt Cassel to start Panthers Preseason game 1
Prickly Pete replied to Beef Jerky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They all suck. I don't think Cassel's "game management" is any better than the others. If it's merely that he is older and more experienced, it's folly to think "oh, we're in better hands with the old guy". He isn't good, and has been "experiencing" crappiness for quite a while now. If the coaches are just going to hand the ball off 75% of the time anyway, Cassel's handoffs aren't particularly special (no, I don;t need a gag about EJM and Browns collision, EJM hands off fine). I think it's EJM under center this season. -
Goodwin attempting to make 2016 Olympics

I used to believe this kind of thing every time the Bills brought in a fast guy. "Yeah, great now the defense has to respect the deep ball, and it will open things up underneath"...but it never seemed to help the terrible offenses we have had. If the guy can't catch it, or the the QB can't throw it, it's not going to be effective. Goodwin hasn't shown the ability to consistently come down with the long ball. I don't claim to care deeply. I like discussing Bills football, and he is on the team. I'm sure if I didn't come out in against the silly attacks on Tom Brady, you wouldn't care to jump in on this this part of the thread, either. There are a few dudes here who just can't get over it. -

Gee, sounds awesome....especially "if he stays healthy". I think he should be doing everything he can to assure that he stays healthy enough to play football. -

So then Greggy, lay out your expectations for Goodwin.... -

I guess we shall see what kind of season he has this year, huh? That's really all that matters. I expect he will either be cut, not play much, or spend most of the season injured. -

Do you think there is a difference between the way a wide receiver trains, and a sprinter trains? He could stand to add a bit of weight and muscle. He is plenty fast, and can still maintain excellent speed. He would probably lose those 100ths of a second that keep him on the Olympic team, but he will still be fast. The guy has been injured for way too much of his career, and staying as lean as possible so he can be on the Olympic team won't help. He could also spend more time working on his ball skills...lots of things he could be working on. Or even just giving his body some rest, instead of taking on extra training. It's a distraction. -

But why don't they have merit? Just calling them silly, doesn't make them silly. -

He is training to run fast, when he should be training to absorb blows, and carry a bit more weight. -

I like him personally, and wish him well, but he was signed and paid to do a job here, and he hasn't accomplished enough to get sidetracked into other activities. Are you satisfied with his career as a Bill thus far? -

Yeah, laying an atomic bomb on a city full of civilians is a lot different. And saying "they were warned" is pretty ridiculous. Do you think the civilians had a choice? -

I would much rather he actually lived up to his potential as an NFL Wide Receiver for the team that spent a 3rd round pick on him, and pay him handsomely, than futz around with track. If he had accomplished anything of note here, I wouldn't mind, but he hasn't been very productive, and I think he is veering toward being a bust. I give not a single poop about the Olympics at this point, and I doubt he would be missed on the track team anyway.
