"great"...nope. Woods is "Scott Arniel". He would make the roster of any team in the league, but would never be a star anywhere. He is "good".
-
I will just regurgitate my previous posts on this subject. Woods isn't striking fear into any DB. Another WR, good enough to draw double coverage, would open up the passing game like no other single player they could acquire (save a HoF QB). What happened when Watkins was out, and Woods became the #1 WR by default? Did he draw double coverage...nope. And if he ever did, he was most certainly shut down. In some of Watkins best games, he would have a real good 1st half, then they would double him in the 2nd. Hogan, Woods...these guys weren't good enough to reap the full benefit of that. Having a guy that is good enough to keep a safety from cheating to Watkins, will reap dividends. Especially with Tyrod's deep throw ability. Really, if you were a deep safety, and you had Watkins streaking down the sidelines on one side, and Woods on the other, who would you choose to cover? Watkins...every time. I understand the argument for the O-line, but another WR that is a notch or 2 above Woods, would have a bigger impact in my opinion. I realize there are more variables, but I like to look at it in terms of how many guys can a player occupy. In the passing game, the best O-lineman in the league can only occupy 1 defender. A good WR can pull 2 defenders (maybe 3), opening up other areas on the field.

I like the way he goes up for the ball, and fights with DB's. Some nice over-the-shoulder catches in this video. Would look good running under a Tyrod Taylor deep ball. https://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Josh%20Doctson&fr=yset_chr_syc_oracle&type=orcl_newtab

"Let's get a WR in the 4th round" I don't get this kind of thinking. The 4th round is a real crapshoot, so waiting around to find a starter that would take pressure off of Watkins there, seems like wishful thinking. We need someone better than Robert Woods (obviously). The only rounds that it would be reasonable to expect to get that kind of guy, would be the first 2 (and the even the 2nd is shaky). If they don't select one high, they will need to get a good free agent.

You can say a lot about EJ......

Nope, I'm done. You'ze guys can wax poetic about EJM for the rest of this thread. Enjoy! -

I don't ignore it, I just don't think it outweighs the fact that EJM gets the yips. I have a long list of posts supporting him prior to that game, but I believe it is just who he is, much like Fitzlacksit. There is a weakness in part of their game that ruins the whole. I wouldn't care if he led them to as many victories as say, Fitz just did with the Jets (hahaha), I don't believe you can have someone that crumbles under pressure like that. -

Nope, neither Wilson nor Brady, were bumbling around like EJM. They may have made mistakes, but EJM was lost, and completely inept. It wasn't a "bad game". It was a stretch of time where he was a deer in headlights. -

Not like that. Go ahead and list some. Not just a bad game, but an actual series of mishaps along those lines, by a "great QB" (and not in a rookie season, though even that would be hard to find). I'm ready, with an open mind... -

Because he lost composure. You can't do that. It's nice that he brought them back against a crappy team, but....you can't do that. -

I like a lot about EJM, and supported him up until the Jags Fiasco. That Jags game showed me that he still gets overwhelmed by the situation. The Jags game wasn't even that high pressure, could you imagine him in a game like today's, in Fitz's place? Crumble... -
He did it is such a classic Fitz-ian manner. It was a thing of beauty....story book fashion Fitzyness! These are the kinds of games that keep me interested in the Bills through these lean seasons. He's back in the stadium of the team that he made his name as a starter with....The team that got rid of him in embarrassing fashion.... Last game of the year...Playoffs on the line....Glorious.

Who thinks the team will play hard tomorrow?
Prickly Pete replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The guys that want to stay, the guys that might have a hard time getting a job elsewhere, the guys who will be free agents....these kinds of players will play hard. The veterans with plenty of job security...some of those guys will go through the motions. -
We're going to win this game vs. Jets

I can't bring myself to care. I'm more interested in watching guys that might be drafted by the Bills. -

Crystal Ball: Top Prospects for 2016 NFL Draft
Prickly Pete replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is a failing of his. I like most of what he does, but is ego gets in the way of the talent. I don't care where they find the guys, but I want them to get those pieces. I would be most excited if a talented WR fell to their pick. -

And if he has 2 good WR's, how different will the coverages be? It would increase the likelihood of his "first read" being open. I think another threat at WR would help Tyrod more than any other acquisition. They can can still improve the line without using the top pick. They really need improvement at both. Woods is nothing special, and while he would do better with an elite QB, he is not ready to "flourish" anywhere. He doesn't draw coverage at all. He's "okay". When Watkins was out, did any team bother to double team Woods? I doubt it, and if they did, he was shut down completely. The Bills need another guy that is good enough to draw double coverage. Then you have something going at WR. -
How many people will be pulling for Fitz and Chan?
Prickly Pete replied to billsintaiwan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I used to think I would cheer for Fitz, but watching him pump his fist, with that douchebag beard, while playing against the Bills this season, I suddenly hated the guy. I do like Chan Gailey, but I don't cheer for anyone but the Buffalo Bills, so the season ends after they get knocked out of the race.
