  1. How was it shipped? If it was regular parcel USPS (motto - if it absolutely, positively would be nice if it gets there, maybe, hopefully in the not too distant future) it wouldn't surprise me at all if it takes in excess of a week, maybe 2. When did he ship? Again, depending on the method, if it's more than 2 weeks ago & it's traceable, have him do so. I'm reluctant (& apparently so is everybody else) to leave negative feedback, but assuming he waited more than a few days to ship, I think that calls for a Neutral. As someone suggested though, it might be prudent to wait for him to leave your feedback.
  2. One thing to consider, assuming these ultrasonic devices are actually effective (I have no idea), is what about other dogs in the neighborhood? Are there any in the immediate proximity? If so, it certainly isn't right to emit an annoying & offensive noise (to dogs) that they are subjected to just 'cuz of some other dog. For that matter, what if the noise (is it correct to say something ultrasonic emits a noise? ) aggrevates these other dogs to cause them to bark.
  3. Look at it from a finanical standpoint. I'm not sure of actual facts (they tend to cloud an opinion ) but... $600m is roughly $40/head for NYS residents. Relative to what we're paying, that's trivial. Further, here's an important issue. Right now, I assume NYJ are a New JERSEY team, ergo pay NJ taxes. W/ their stadium in New York, we get to have income tax on their salaries AND sales tax on ticket sales, etc. Figure easily $70m/yr in salaries @ even 6% plus another 8% of perhaps $50m in ticket sales, etc. Right there, those revenues alone offset perhaps 20-25% of the cost. Those are direct costs. The don't take into consideration about tickle down effects not to mention the original $600m cost, which of course NYS will get a decent tax share of. Add to that additional property tax revenue. (Also, bear in mind, that revenues (& expenses) are distributed among several entities (county, town/municipality, state) but considering how we allocate things (state subsidies, etc) I really don't think that's an issue. Finally, if this indeed is sufficient to attract the Olympics, I suspect the impact of that would be VERY profitable for the State.
  4. Ewwww. I'm trying to eat my beakfast, thanks. As for the appointment, yes, I've had those b4, in fact some have even been w/ doctors.
  5. Dodge Charger I also occasionally lurk at Moparts
  6. Very sorry to hear about your dog (along w/ your nasty vet bill); hope he comes out okay. The guy promising to pay the vet bills is a good step, but by your description appears to be an empty promise. I don't know if he would actually be liable or not. Question - was your dog leashed? If not, it could be claimed that your dog was the instigator. (My dog got attacked by a pit bull in a similar situation.) If he was, I don't know. As suggested elsewhere, I would suggest contacting animal control. Depending upon what they say, it might be worth contacting the police. There's 2 important issues - the paramount one being that this dog needs to be controlled so that this doesn't happen again (or worse). If this means euthanizing or more desirably removing this dog from this man's custody, then so be it. Secondly, ideally, this man should be finanically accountable for the damage his dog caused.
  7. Suicide Watch? Why, let him do it. He's already caused a great detriment to society (an action that resulted in the death of 11 & injury to 200 plus considerable $, both directly & indirectly). Have him do everyone a favor & save the expense & effort of a trial & either cost of life in prison or the even greater cost of convicting and carying out the death penalty. I won't go far far as to call him a POS as others have, but I certainly don't think he's worthy of compassion, either.
  8. Sorry to hear about your situation. Sucks. Did you get a severance? If it was something other than Civil Service, say in an organization that was only interested in retaining superlative employees this might be an easy a way to weed out the less than stellar performers. But there doesn't seem to be that motivation at a gov't job (or at least not to me). Is it possible that this was some way around possibly hiring a 'contractor' or temporary position & the intent was to release you all along?
  9. Not that I know of, but then again I'm far from a Windoze expert. My problem was diagnosed by realtime/online help via RoadRunner. (disable ZoneAlarm & the problem went away.) I subsequently found others posts on a BBS from others suffering similar problems w/ ZoneAlarm. Conceivably, Norton could be doing the same thing i.e. being too restrictive on traffic.
  10. Just speculation, but perhaps it's a similar rule as to the extra pads, bands, etc. where a team can select only one or two colors & the players must abide. So each team might be limited to only one tint (or lack thereof) of visor.
  11. I've been having intermittent DNS look up problems that are attributable to ZA as well. I heard that RoadRunner is offering some sort of other firewall that I might give it a try.
  12. Well, it ain't right, but there's no serious errors. I'm using Firebird 0.7 (quite old) on Windoze Home XP if that's relevant. The main pic on the top left is garbage, the text is fine, but it's taking FOREVER for the rest of the pics to load (I've got a cable modem.)
  13. Just out shoveling for the 3rd time. I'd say total we've got a foot, maybe 14" so far. (I'm just south of Albany.)
  14. My lifelong dream is to build my own house, doing most of it myself. It's put on hold as I think it's more prudent to get a wife 1st. I'd potentially be interested in a book like that. Some of my preferred TV viewing is 'be your own contractor', 'home IQ', etc.
  15. I'm fo-mumble-mumble years old. Guess that makes me one of the old guys.
  16. I (obviously) have a collar w/ tags on it for my dog. However, it comes off every night & then gets put on when I go out w/ him the next day. It would be possible for him to 'escape' either from the house or from his own fenced in area while not wearing it.
  17. Assuming that you put 'as is', or something similar in the contract, you probably are in good shape legally. Can they sue you, sure, & it'll likely cost you time & money defending yourself. Now depending on your level of guilt, might I suggest either a) buying the car back (if it's in NYS there's probably nasty sales tax ramifications), or b) offer to split the cost (i.e. give them $1200), whichever you prefer. That said, b4 I offered them any rebate, I'd suggest consulting a lawyer as this act might imply admitting guilt & make you more likely to be liable. Just my 2¢.
  18. I want the Batmobile! Outta those choices, I'd have to opt for the Ferrari considering I already own a '68 Charger. (The General was a '69.)
  19. Re: Speech to text, my 1st home PC had a speech command mode in its Windoze 3.1 shell. All my had to do was say, "Computer Start Program Excel" and the game FreeCell would start up!
  20. Tough choice & good question. I think the thing is that it being the off-season, I'm more optimistic w/ JPL on the roster (hoping he'll unseat DB). One assumes that the C or TE or whatever we would have had would have contributed more to this past years performance than JPL. (Certainly in games, he contrubted nothing & it's doubtful he was that much of a benefit in meetings or practice.) But come next year, I can't think of any other position where a combination of importance & level of possible/likely improvement can improve our overall team than QB. However, I'm hopeful that JPL's contribution this coming year will be more or at least as much as any other 2nd year player (even Evans) relative to the person he's displacing. As for the contribution of our lost draft choice, again how much can you expect a rookie to elevate your overall play relative to an improvement in the QB position. Now if JPL doesn't displace Bledsoe, which we should get an idea of by the start of preseason, then my optimism relative to having that rookie stud that we just picked (along w/ that now 2nd year player) is much lower.
  21. Well, 1st of all the question is pretty moot 'cuz w/ my swimming ability, I lack the ability to save either normal sized person or my Great Dane. That said, continuing w/ the exercise & we'll assume that each potential victim has the same ease and probability of rescue, I think my answer is I don't know. Considering that your decision and actions would need to be determined in a matter of seconds, I don't know how I would react. However, sitting here at my computer pondering the situation, I can imagine that letting my dog drown would cause more future negative emotional repercussions than letting a stranger drown. I realize that overall animals (even really cute ones) are less valuable than people (even fat obnoxiously friendly ones), but in my own little world the loss of my pet would be greater.
  22. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Monk on USA. I'll admit it's slipped from the original few episodes, but I think it's very good. To round out my 'must see' 4, I'll say - Boston Legal Desperate Housewives ER Enterprise
  23. I haven't read the article (yet), but how's this for a solution- The soldier had some property of value (a camera w/ pics), it's missing. Maybe it's stolen. Call the police. Police have a lead on what has been reported as stolen (leave it up to the lawyers to determine whether or not it was actually stolen), they make a visit to where they can recover the item & surprise, they have a suspect in the theft. While the whole mess gets straightened out, he can stay in a holding cell w/ Big Dick Bubba
  24. Would surrendering a TD in 3 plays be preferable to having them take 9 minutes to score a FG? Guys on the other side of the ball get paid, too. Again, I'm not claiming the Dee is infallible, but I think the primary problem is in the offense's ineptitude. Taking the Pitt game as an example, the Dee surrendered like 260 yards and a net of 9 points (They scored a TD & 2x took the field w/ Pitt already in FG position.) That sort of production should win you the majority of your games. Our offense produced a net of 10 points. (2 TDs scored, 1 surrendered. 2 drives into FG range (1 missed), and they surrendered the ball one time on a INT deep in our territory). Most times when you only produce 10 points, you lose. I think similar examples can be made in other games.
