  1. I just got an email from a 9er fan who was asking about Clements. As I told him, I'm "optimistic" that the Bills made the right move essentially signing 2 OL for the price of 1 CB. We had a BAD offense that even at the end of the season was at best mediocre. In the opinion of most, poor line play was primarily the cause. Unless you have a GREAT defense, you're not going far w/ an offense like that. To me, it seems easier to make a putrid O mediocre than a mediocre D awesome. You're correct in that losing Clements likely will have an adverse effect on our ability to stop the run. Conversely, having a much improved O, will indirectly help stop the run. W/ Clements you had a largely known quantity. Although the Clements of 2005 is NOT worth that sort of $, but how he played the latter part of last yr was. 2 new, young OL from different teams (one of which sucked) is much more of a gamble. You just don't know what you've got. As for losing Fletcher, I can only assume that the thought at OBD is that he doesn't fit our Dee scheme and that they're looking to improve at MLB. He certainly IMO was at least serviceable, but is it worth that sort of $ for someone who really isn't what you want?
  2. If he does, figure you'll see a few more batted down passes, by the back of his head. I think the dudes like 6'8". Seriously, although the guy might be capable of playing an interior position, his body shape (tall, long and "skinny") naturally leads itself to playing tackle (or D-Line).
  3. Not that I'm helping matters any, but 1st I assume you're using WinDoze. Am I correct in that the only way that Windoze determines what type of file something is is by its extension, i.e. a video AVI file will be named Filename.AVI? That's primarily just a question, but if you think it's an AVI file, you can try renaming it and you'll be all set. Of course combining multiple video files is likely more difficult as each file likely has a header in it's composition.
  4. Thanks Gavin.
  5. Speaking of LOST & TMOL, isn't there some fictional work that is about solving TMOL, and it is determined mathematically that the answer is 42? Anyone know what book it is?
  6. Likely minimum wage for a player w/ his experience. Can't get any cheaper than that (except of course the SB).
  7. Isn't it Bledsoe's BD, too?
  8. The article makes a point about ambient noise. Much as we've gotten used to excessive ambient light due to 3rd brake lts & daytime running lights to the point where they've lost (most of) their effectiveness, eventualy, we become acclimated to the lessor ambient noise of cars. As for a more proactive solution, how bout the blind wearing hearing attentuating devices or carrying some sort of radar/sonar type device? Seems like a better solution to me.
  9. Pandas shown here drinking milk contaminated w/ the date rape drug. Zoo authorities believe someone referred to as Crash is involved.
  10. THe only one I remember - Mommy, Mommy, the kids at school make fun of me calling me a vampire. Shut up & drink your soup b4 it clots.
  11. Weird, 1st time I brought up the 2nd link, I got a still from NCIS & neither of those actresses were her. 2nd time, I got a mag cover w/ Giselle Butdchen (sp?) Dare I try the 3rd link?
  12. Geez. I was thinking Wie or Gulbis
  13. Oh, how times have changed. Maybe I was too young at the time, but I don't ever recall any stink coming from that. (For us, semi-old timers, that was good for a LOL BTW.)
  14. I'm likely gonna have a salad w/ shrimp in it that have been bathing in a dill dressing. (Already working on shredding the winter pounds.)
  15. I have no particular medical knowledge, but I believe a concussion is when the brain 'bruises', that is moves around &/or hit the skull sufficiently to cause trauma (that is to cause problems - memory, balance, sight, speech, etc). Ergo, some people being more susceptible to them than others (& repeated concussions also leading to increased susceptibility).Just like some people bruise easier, bones break easier or are more suscpetible to viruses, why can't some people have more resistance or susceptibility to concussions? I don't know if it is reversing the process, that's what I'm asking. & I wouldn't use the term 'damage'. I agree that a concussion MIGHT lead to brain damage, but what I'm referring to is an innate 'deficiency' that leads itself not only to premature brain degradation but also a susceptibility to concussions. That is I'm questioning whether all the concussions this guy had lead to the brain damage or rather some other genetic defect or disease lead to both the concussions and his demise. FWIW, to the best of my knowledge, I've only had 1 concussion i.e. a whack on the head sufficient to have me black out & cause other 'intermediate' term problems.
  16. There's been a couple of threads about concussions recently & the long term effects. Specifically, they mentioned that the Eagle Safety that recently commited suicide had severe brain degradation. Is it possible that some inherent defect in someone's brain could make them more susceptible to concussions and that their future problems were almost assured of occurring regardless of their history of concussions? i.e. They already possess a "defective" brain that likely will degrade prematurely AND this same defect might make rcving a concussion more likely and that concussions did NOT lead to their later problems but merely a symptom of an existing condition?
  17. J Hanson fell out of the window, You'd think that his head would be split. But good luck was w/ him that morning, he fell in a big pile of Shhhhh...aving cream. (actually, apparently he hit a roof awning.)
  18. I think the general concensus is that Evans is a solid #1 & Reed a competent #3. Beyond that... Davis & Aiken are major ST contributors. One problem is that Davis is a FA and I suspect unless we "show him the money" (which I don't think is prudent), he likely would like to go elsewhere where he might be in a better position to play WR & catch some balls. That said, unless you've got players that likely show substantially more potential than these 2, you keep them both. Making a couple big plays on ST a game is far more than you can expect a 4th or 5th WR to make on the offense. I don't think either of these guys have much of a chance to be a solid #2. Price was somewhat of a disappointment. I don't know the cap ramifications of letting him go, but I assume since we've got so much room, it really isn't an issue. Cutting him in the offseason is needless, but in my book, come August he's the one that should be looking over his shoulder for the Turk. Parrish seems to be the biggest ?. He made his fair share of big plays, and/but I get the impression that he's not on the field that much. Also, he's our best PR which is something that shouldn't be discounted. Can he be our #2? Let's give him a chance & see, but I'm not too confident that he can be. I'd say bring in another 2nd tier FA a la Price to see if they can make the cut &/or maybe spend a 3rd or 4th round pick. The latter would likely make Reed our #2 by default. As for Wilson, he supposedly has promise. Maybe next yr will be his time to step up, but I wouldn't count on it.
  19. He's an ex-Raider, too. Considering it's the Raiders, I doubt think it's to meet a minority quota at all but a very legitimate interest.
  20. I don't think any knock on Losman WRT accuracy holds any merit. His 1st yr of playing, yes, but not this year. All QBs are prone to being inaccurate when rushed. As for pocket presence, I think he's still deficient. Hopefully, that will improve w/ experience.
  21. Much as I hate to see NE win, SD deserved to lose. As per Marv's adage, you can't give a team a 1st down by headbutting a player needlessly (is there ever a reason for a headbutt?) after you stop them on 3rd. BUT THE MOST MONUMENTALLY, STUPID, ASININE thing you can do is INTERCEPT on 4th down, AND THEN FUMBLE!!! Duh. I don't know whether it's attributable to personal greed or just a total lack of brains which exceeds a single digit Wonderlic score, but McCree cost SD their season. (Then again, maybe he didn't know what down it was. )
  22. I think that the 'new era' of FA has added a couple of thinmgs that enhance the general enjoyment of the NFL, but I'll admit, there were good things about "the good ole days" that I miss. Namely, the last few weeks of the season, most teams are still in the hunt for the playoffs. This means more 'scoreboard watching' which of course enhancing your enjoyment (or else you wouldn't do it) and also enhancing the NFL's "presence". The NFL has now become almost a year round activity although the season for most teams is still only 16 weeks long. Used to be, your season was over come January and you had virtually NOTHING going on, save a couple of days in April, until July; it was then still a couple of months b4 'real' stuff happened.
  23. Not really concerned. I think it's mostly a #s thing. Obviously, when healthy, McGee & Clements are active. Thomas seemed entrenched at the 3rd CB position. Greer is a gunner & solid ST contributor. This would make Youboty the 5th most desirable CB to be active. So, it seems likely that if active, he wouldn't be 'needed' to be on the field, so having him active would merely be for the purpose of giving him exposure. Since this is the case, who do you choose to sit that likely wouldn't contribute?
