FDA to study negative effects of Lasik eye surgery
eSJayDee replied to SDS's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Article sez 6 mill Americans have had it. I would think prior to '97 or so, only a very few would've been done in the country; probably post 2000 or so, very few Americans would've gone elsewhere to have it done. FWIW, when I had it done in '98, IIRC there was about a 2% chance of "minor issues" a very small % of more serious problems (presumably what the 140 refers to). I'd be inclined to think I'm part of the 2%, but overall I'm happy that I had it done as it was a worthwhile exchange. -
Sorry. I think the Raiders still have us beat. Arguably the Skins are embarrassing, as they're disfunctional in their own way, too.

Momentarily ignoring the "you don't let them score" edict, in this particular case, I think this was the better decision anyway. Are we more likely to go ~70 yds for a TD in 2:00 or ~30 for a FG in 25 seconds? Considering our EXTREME inability to sustain a drive, I think the chances of getting lucky for the FG try are MUCH greater. Good decision by default in this case IMO.

I thought you were gonna break into song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1loyjm4SOa0 Maybe this should go in the 40th anniversary thread OTW. -
I don't think I've "missed" a game in over 30 yrs. Game wasn't televised here & I was having too much trouble w/ internet feeds, so I was left w/ just the radio. Frequently, games cause me to take a depression induced nap after they're over. This time, I fell asleep midway thru the 3rd qtr & really didn't care.

Actually, that's not possible. When I voted, it was 96 & 3, too & I wondered about that. If one # gets rounded up, the other mathematically HAS to be rounded down. One possibility is like a binary-base10 conversion issue, but when dealing w/ "small" integers like this, that shouldn't be an issue either. Maybe they're just truncating?

2 birds w/ 1 stone. Mkting/$ making opportunity
eSJayDee posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
to be the Bills HC for a week? Personally, I think I'd go up to about $1k. (I would've been willing to pay much more when I had more disposable $) I mention this only "mostly" sarcastically... Assuming Jauron gets fired mid-season, rather than have an interim replacement, why not allow the ultimate fan experience & have "guest HCes" each week. Either by bidding or lottery or whatever. So many people think they can do it better, why not give them the opportunity to put their $ where their mouth is. If it were me, as I readily admit I know little about the Xs & Os, I would rather immerse myself (primarily w/ the assistance of the QC coaches) during the practice week in trying to make the best decisions possible, as well as empirically analyze various strategies. Alternately, how bout having one of those Buzztime type fan interaction for key decisions during the game? Example - 3rd & 3 - choices a) shotgun draw, b) shotgun 5 wide c) std pro set run d) play action You've got 10 seconds to vote, then the results get submitted to the staff to be implimented. -

Free Microsoft Essentials Antivirus/Malware
eSJayDee replied to millbank's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Actually, I wonder if Microsloth doesn't have a substantial competitive advantage over other security products in that they should be far more aware & familiar w/ how susceptible their product is for attack. -
I'm surprised by that too. I'll readily concede that in "car vs immovable object" collisions the newer, safer, better engineered car would fare better. But in car vs car, I would think simple physics would take precedence. That Bel Air has gotta weigh almost a ton more than the modern version. I actually wonder if that really was a fair test, i.e. did they like remove the engines 1st. When I was a kid, I saw a car vs dump truck collision. The truck was basically unscathed.

For the next week at least, McIntyre is our 3rd RB. A fairly necessary function IMO. After that, he may well be released to make room for Lynch. WRT The Pack signing Stupar, I believe we have "the right of 1st refusal". i.e. They request picking him up, we then have the option of bringing him up to the regular roster, or losing him. (I believe he also has the option of refusing & instead opting to stay on our PS. I recall that circumstance happening b4.)

I have TW in Albany. Broadcast did "freeze" a couple of times. I found this happens occasionally w/ the movie channels. Go to the Std Def & all is well. Come back a few minutes/seconds later & it's fixed. Another reason I've got it on my list to switch to satellite.

Roscoe Parrish Back On The Trade Block
eSJayDee replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree w/ this whole-heartedly. That should be taken into consideration. IDK if it's cuz he's concerned w/ not fielding it cleanly or not, but he's a WR - he should have good hands. (Bear in mind, a muffed punt is far worse than an extra 15 or so yd roll.) For having such an awesome return avg, I don't think our net yds against per punt is all that spectacular. Maybe it's April & coaching, IDK. Reminds me of when Tasker took over PR duties. His avg wasn't that great, but he fielded almost EVERYTHING. -
Edwards Appartently Has Two Different Deep Ball Throws
eSJayDee replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Part of it is probably timing by design, &/or it could be the WR's preference. On the incomplete to Evans, the ball was gone almost immediately, not certain but basically like a 3-step drop & let it go. On the one that TO dropped, he didn't release it til much later & really had to zing it in order to reach him. (It was SLIGHTLY underthrown BTW, TO had to slow down a bit.) -
IDK if it's "code", but if it's permissible, I'd strongly recommend installing extra length strings from each (non-electrical) box to and thru the floor below it (& tie them off so they don't get lost in the walls). This way, if you need to add wiring in the future, snaking it will be MUCH easier. This way, anticipating your future needs (& wasting $ on unused wiring) is far less important.

Is it a typo? You plan to go back to school to complete your PhD.

Will the firing affect the final roster?
eSJayDee replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing I thought of is that it makes it more likely that we'll keep 3 QBs. W/ AVP doing dbl duty as QB coach & OC, I can see Hamdan's role as "sounding board" being more important. -
Whos everyones surprise cuts this year?
eSJayDee replied to K-Gun10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think between Kelsey & Denney, it comes down to contract status. Personally, I'd prefer to cut Kelsey rather than Denney. I assume he's currently more expensive too, just matters when Denney cnt is up. I'll put my vote on Roscoe. Awesome returner, but has yet to be able to make much of an impact at WR. WR is a deep position. Disappointingly, I've seen Wendling make a couple of boo-boos on ST. I blame him for the fake punt TD as I assume he was responsible for contain. Youboty &/or Florence I'd say are likely casualties. -
Sorta answered my own question : http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?...mp+awards\ Unfortunately, the categories are totally different.

Just read CB's 2009 Camp Awards. To me, this is useful info. I was curious to know who were the previous year(s)'s winners. Unfortunately, their archive only goes back to October. Does anyone recall or have a rcd of them? Thx.

Passengers have to spend a night on a plane
eSJayDee replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
All right, a w/ a bit of common sense interjected into the situation: W/ apparently all the problems confronted, what's wrong w/ chartering a bus & driving the passengers to their destination? WAY quicker for them, seemingly avoids several issues/problems & likely even CHEAPER for the airline(s). HELLO! McFly! -
FBI Ruse Helps Catch A 10 Most Wanted Child Molester!
eSJayDee replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I do feel better considering that the list is 10 most wanted FUGITIVES. This means they have already escaped justice. Although Bin Laden being on the list, seems to be incongruent. FBI is exclusively domestic, no? -
FBI Ruse Helps Catch A 10 Most Wanted Child Molester!
eSJayDee replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Based on that write up, good job by law enforcement taking him into custody. But what gets me, here's a guy that's been underground for 15 yrs, i.e. seemingly has no siginificant interaction w/ society, yet he's on the 10 Most Wanted? Personally, I think some guy that just robbed a liquor store last week is far more of a menace to society and therefore should be more 'wanted'. -
...then they'll have to go 6-6 the rest of the way to end up 7-9! Seriously, 4 games is NOT any indication of how you're gonna do. The difference between 1-3 & 3-1 could easily be 2 plays. Barring any other significant factors (player insurrection, etc) anything other than keeping the status quo until we're eliminated from the playoffs (i.e. at least 8 losses) would be impetuous and foolish.
