  1. No he wasn't. As I said b4, it was a different era of passing. You didn't go thru a season w/ only a handful of INTs, and your "possession" WRs would avg like 15 YPC. His INT %age was typical for QBs at that time. In fact, for the longest time (IDK if it's still the case) Fergy held the record for LEAST INTs in a season! In '76 when he only played like 7 games due to back injury, he only had 1 INT in ~160 attempts, which for at least 25+ yrs was the record.
  2. I would've rated him good, but not elite. Different era back then. As others have mentioned, he was prone to hanging his head. Couldn't find anyone tougher - just watch the S.D. playoff game in '80 or '81 for reference - he basically played it one one foot (IMO it would've been a different outcome if he was the slightest bit mobile or even if he was able to step into his throws). As for the helmet color change, IIRC (I could be mistaken), he was colorblind so although the thought behind it was to distinguish our players from other teams in the division, it likely wasn't at his request, I think the idea was Stevenson's..
  3. Golf playoff. 18-1. LOL.
  4. If I'm referring to any carbonated soft drink, then I use "pop". If I'm referring to ice cream put in pop, then it's a soda. If it's a cola soft drink, then it CAN be referred to as a coke, much like slip-joint pliers can be referred to as Channelocks or hot tubs Jacuzzis.
  5. Just b4 the buzzer, 1959 :
  6. You know how all Chuck Lorre (I think that's his name) productions have like a really long "essay" at the end? No one can possibly read that in the ~5 seconds it's posted. There is however this thing called pause or rewind on your DVR. I agree w/ you though. I can't usually read'em either. Just doesn't bother me enough to bother to hit rewind.
  7. I didn't think there was a planet named Pluto anymore.
  8. Could it be possible that the 1 drop refers to only those where he lined up in the RB position? I, too, certainly would think that he dropped more than 1 pass, but I also recall that one/some were on quick slants where he was lined up as a WR.
  9. Given our recent track rcd against good teams the fact given we played them, that we've lost 7x in a row to the NFC SB team is actually quite likely (I'd guesstimate >75%). The fact that we ended up playing them due to scheduling, I gotta think is very unlikely. Over the last 7 yrs, I'd say the AFC East has been, on avg, relatively avg (ie no particular advantage in playing them). Were it to be a particularly weak division, "gifting" a team 4 wins, would give them an advantage in helping to procure homefield, which of course would help them ultimately make the SB.
  10. I can remember a newbie came onboard & complimented us on the intelligent discussions we were having. Called us a bunch of road scholars.
  11. The 1st thing that struck me is that no where in those promises does it say anything about winning. For that matter, the letter is sadly void of any mention of attempting to do so.
  12. Gailey is coaching to save his job. If he's gone, what motivation does he have to save these players for next yrs staff? And if we finish 5-11, I'll be mighty miffed (& I suspect most fans will be, too) if this staff is retained. For that matter, 6-10 & he should be gone, too. But at least at that mark, there might be a chance that he's retained. At the very least, a good showing in the last game will look better on the resume for his next job, as opposed to a (likely) very poor showing if one rests the "starters".
  13. Oops. Didn't see this. Just posted something similar. Gotta say, Take Five is one of the few songs that you can listen to 1000s of times w/o it getting tired.
  14. Oops. My bad. I was laying in bed & realized my error. I computed the chance of making the playoffs 13 yrs straight. DOH. You're correct sorry.
  15. Where/how'd you come up w/ that #? If you assume a random chance of any team making the playoffs & each year 6 of 16 make it, I reckon that comes out to 2.9e-6 or .00029%. Granted, making the playoffs is not entirely random, but I'm curious how you came up w/ your #s?
  16. I would assume that CBS is prohibited from showing any due to the blackout (if they didn't have the dbl header, there'd be no game). For whatever reason, Fox is opting for the late game rather than any of the earlier ones (It seems that all their other games are "regional, & that is "THEIR" game they're pushing).
  17. I don't remember my exact age, but I do recall fondly riding my pet dinosaur.
  18. I don't think you can really categorize Sheppard as a disappointment. Cuz of alignment/"groupings", he spends much of the time on the sideline. I put much of that blame on Wannestadt. Were he to play more than 15-20 plays/game, he might have more of an impact.
  19. I didn't see the call in question, but you have to remember that it is a judgement call as to whether or not the officials will call a penalty on the Pats* for that. Much like it's a judgement call as to whether or not it's a penalty for anyone to even touch Brady in any fashion.
  20. Look at it this way: W/ one of the worst defenses in the league, our offense is middle of the pack (w/ Fitz at QB). An improved Dee will help the offense, to the point where statistically they should probably make top 10. If your Offense & Dee are both top 10, assuming you don't have terrible ST (which we don't), you should easily be among the teams that make the playoffs (roughly equating to the top 12).
  21. FWIW, washers are one of the few appliances where energy savings actually justify buying new. I don't recall the numbers (I bought a new washer bout a yr ago) but I'll guess based on rated usage, you might save ~$70/yr. That makes the payback only a few yrs (rather than never depending on value of $, ie interest rate) Why can't you just replace the dryer & continue to use the washer portion?
  22. Thanks. It's certainly something I've been dreading for awhile. He's certainly been enjoyable for me. They say Dane's life expectancy is only 7-8 yrs (my parents had a couple when I was younger that lived to be 10ish), so he's lived a long & good life.
  23. Dog in my avatar is now a 10 1/2 yr old Great Dane - Pooch Wilson. About 150 lbs. Sadly, it's about time to euthanize him. (I tried to upload a more recent photo, but it's too large.)
  24. Chris Brown wrote of how well the Bills Dee contained Foster. So, when you're winning & trying to kill the clock & your opponent is trying to stop you to get the ball back, that's considered "garbage"? I actually think the Dee did "okay" yesterday. Better than I anticipated & far better than recent stds. Why make a lame excuse for them? Save that for the offense.
  25. FWIW, I'd also assume that he does NOT have a college degree. Last #s I saw, which was MANY yrs ago, <25% of NFL players have degrees.
