  1. You bring up a valid point & in the past have often thought that way. Basically, it comes down to maybe 1/2 the time, that TO is basically worthless & the other 1/2 the time, it's potentially VERY valuable. The earlier you take it, the less uncertain those percentages are. I don't recall the exact situation, but I was quite perturbed they took it at that time, primarily cuz at that time, the need to is largely attributed to incompetence.
  2. He didn't see it cuz he doesn't have eyes in the back of his head. I would think that is fine worthy; he wasn't near the play and again, IT WAS IN THE BACK.
  3. I don't have any particular expertise, but I have noted that most "bombs" only travel about 50 yards in the air. As this one traveled 65+, it certainly seems reasonable that Foster start looking for the ball WELL before it's arrival. Further, I'd like to add that a 65 yd pass that's only off by less than 6' is still pretty accurate. It's unfortunate that in this case w/ Foster being so open, a 5 yards underthrow, would've yielded a better result than a 2 yd overthrow. Then again, it's also possible that he was so open cuz the defender didn't expect/believe that a ball could/would be thrown that far.
  4. As it's already been brought up, my initial aversion to dumping KB was the comp pick formula. However, you only get picks if you're a net loss in players. Considering that we've got piles of cap space & likely won't be losing any expensive FAs (I don't think retirements count & I can virtually guarantee K Williams isn't signing elsewhere & Alexander I'd say is low probability, too), I don't think it's likely that we're aiming/likely to acquire comp picks.
  5. Way back when, Bobby Chandler (WR) was a holder. You want/need someone that has practice catching a fast snap. Used to be, as I recall, more often than not, it would be the backup QB. However, I suspect, w/ the increasing complexity of the game, requiring more study & practice, and now coupled w/ practice restrictions due to the CBA, in most cases, it just makes more sense to have the more practiced punter do it. One other thing - as punters have improved considerably over the last 10 yrs or so, I suspect so has their general athleticism. As such, less reason not to have them doing it. Additionally, punters don't usually get hurt, QBs do thereby allowing for more continuity.
  6. I think you just stated why we had to move on from Tyrod. You claim that he's superior against the fins, averaging almost 250 yds/game. 250 yds/game is about league wide average. That in his most prolific output, he merely achieved average, I think that's why if you ever aspire for a good (passing) offense, he needed to be upgraded.
  7. Turns out what w/ all the noise from helmets & shoulder pads clanking, he just misheard Incognito. Incognito was executing a "look out" block, & telling Tyrod, "Yannick is near!"
  8. My unscientific observation is that it's slightly better than 50-50 if they're able to play the following week, so it's perfectly normal to miss > 1 game. That he missed a 2nd game w/ a shortened week in the process probably isn't rare. This past week, the team has essentially been off so it's possible that he can't progress in the process &/or even if he did, we might not know about it. If he's out this coming week due to protocol then, yes, it's time to worry.
  9. I was under the impression the reason Ryan was let go was he was basically told to fire that inept buffoon he had as a de facto Defensive Coordinator & he refused so both of them were out on their butts.
  10. I think the only reason he hasn't been declared out is he's probably a better option to serve as the backup. The Bills presumably think Anderson is a better option than Barkley (they were both on the street when they selected Anderson) and Anderson has 8 practices or whatever relative to Barkley's 2.
  11. Hard to miss. The guy looks HUGE.
  12. Just saw on FB Clay is out. Why isn't he inactive rather than someone else?
  13. We went very conservative in the 2nd half & it resulted in 6 consecutive punts. While I agree that is the prudent strategy through the 3rd quarter (if we can score 27 in a 1/2, they can score 28), once you know the game is in hand, say the start of the 4th, why not treat it as a practice/preseason game? You've got a very inexperienced QB that certainly could use the learning opportunity.
  14. 1st pic, you've got 2 receivers on the right, both off the LOS. One needs to be on it. In the 2nd pic, 3 on the left are all off the LOS; one needs to be on it. In the 3rd, I'd say the problem is a bit different. Not too many in the backfield, but rather I assume just an illegal formation. Newhouse (who presumably is an eligible receiver on this play) & Benjamin are both on the LOS & one should be off for Newhouse to be eligible.
  15. Technically speaking, many times the penalty isn't on a specific person (although someone is definitely at fault), but rather on the team. It's "too many men in the back field", ie 5 or more (you need 7 on the line). Typically, if the problem is a linemen (non-eligible receiver) not up close enough to the LOS, the ref will identify the culprit.
  16. Friggin Lonnie. Caught a pass off a fake punt. He's past 10 players & only 1 player in front of him. Oblivious to the punt returner he got lit up (& IIRC, fumbled).
  17. I'll second ST:TOS & Freaks and Geeks, although I didn't watch them when they originally came out. I'll also add Arrested Development (which I also seldom watched when it came out.) Also, Camelot, which was on I think Starz for one season.
  18. I think you've got an oversight/mistake in your compilation. Wasn't Losman taken in the 1st round the same yr Rothleisberger(sp?) was? I'd categorize him as a miss.
  19. Actually, although it sucks, I think it is fair. He was already paid the $, and he performed for that $. The reason for the additional burden is that the cap hit was deferred, ie he was paid but the cap cost was pushed forward. It's just in this case, that cap hit is now paid all at once instead of spread out over the next few yrs.
  20. It indicates we're tied for 1st place w/ zero giveaways on ST. Didn't we fail to cover 2 onside kicks (I distinctly remember at least one)? I would think those count as giveaways.
  21. Actually, a scratch golfer would average 2 or 3 over par on an "average" course. (Handicap is only based on your better rounds, ideally 10 of the last 20, and doesn't significantly penalize you for bad holes.)
  22. Why is this a question? We're not likely his production for ~$4m (projected cap minus - dead $ if cut). As people have said, right now, he's about the only source of production we have on offense. Granted, we've gotten rid of a few other high priced, productive players so far, but I certainly hope that purge is finished.
  23. I think the one thing you have going against you is that the punts were not getting off THAT much slower. Snaps were about the same; punters only slightly slower w/ their approach. I'd say maybe 0.2, 0.3 seconds tops. The rushers ability to accelerate & rush I think would be dramatically slowed. Coupled that w/ the increased likelihood of losing your footing & running into the kicker, don't really think it was worth it. Also, punting isn't the weapon that it usually is. Both punters netted high 30s, which I think was VERY good given the conditions. Normally, not restricted my distance, a good punt you hope to net almost 50.
  24. How many rookie tackles are there? (that qualify for a rating) 6? Maybe 10, tops. He was drafted in the 2nd round. You'd hope he'd be toward the top.
