  1. There you have it. I got nuthin.
  2. It wont be Buffalo. Buffalo will destroy Baltimore....hurt ratings........ whereas the Dolphins would be a competitive football game. jb
  3. You are a strange fan. I mean that in a good way. Neat story. jb
  4. Well, what you did is the big reason I visit this board. I like reading up on players I'm not familiar with. I'd never heard of Zach Dysert, Matt Scott, and a host of others including Sorenson that posters like yourself have enlightened me on. Good stuff indeed. Maybe I'm in the minority? But..... I appreciate the hell out of posts like your original in this thread. I reckon most folks do as well. jb
  5. My pipe dream would be draft 2 QB's. In a perfect world EJ and Nassib/Barkley/Scott/Dysert. I get just a little nervous about taking Geno at #8. Maybe I'm over-reacting but it just bugged the hell out of me seeing him lose his composure in that last game against Syracuse. Pretty sure I'll be glued to the tube in late April, round 1. LOL !!
  6. +1. Jim Kelly once said he'd have never been the QB he was had it not been for Frank Reich. Jim said that Frank was always pointing out nuances with the D, and other things he'd learned by spending countless hours in the film room. jb
  7. ......and the Raiders got jobbed...BAD. I would argue the crowd noise rule comes in a close 2nd. That'd be the one where the QB asks the ref to ask the crowd to be quiet, and if they dont a penalty is enforced. Elway used to abuse that rule back in the day as some of you may recall. You don't see this rule come into play anymore since the QB's have electronic junk in their helmet....and typically use silent counts on 3rd and long. I do believe its still a rule though. jb
  8. Building the ream through free agency is a tough road to how in Buffalo. We are the only small market team in the AFC east. Sure, you can pay huge contracts and get players (ie..Mario) but you only ensure you will end up in cap jail at some point. I'm really beginning to think this is pretty big factor in our lack of success. Its more difficult to lure a FA player to a small market, especially one with cold weather, and a bad football team. Mike Wallace even said he was happy to be going to a warm weather climate in Miami as an example, another big market team. (ps...if Im a dolphins fan I'm not liking that signing / contract). End result is you can't get consistently good players to sign in FA. (Yes, our draft record really hasn't helped .) The situation snow balls since you have a team that is not a contender further limiting free agents willingness to sign in Buffalo. They really need to score, and score big in the draft the next few years. If you can build a contender through the draft, you've created an environment where more free agents would show an interest, which makes the window larger for a successful run. jb
  9. I like the kid. Don't think I'd take him in the second though. He doesn't seem to be talked about all that much, so maybe he'll still be around later. Maybe the sleeper QB of the draft ? Could well be. I'd be real happy if they took him. In a later round than 2....after drafting EJ, Matt, Matt, or one of the other prospects. Or, take a FA, and draft Zach. That'd work too I suppose. You can't overlook a kid like this in a year with "questionable" QB talent. Frankly I hope Zach has a horrible pro day. Maybe then we could grab him in the 5th ! LOL ! jb
  10. I think it was Marv Levy that once said: " If you listen to the fans, it won't be long and you'll be sitting with them". Or something like that !! LOL ! jb
  11. This was really I was saying when I put this thread up. Folks here blow things way out of proportion. If he's as bad as the lemmings think, no problem. He'll get cut. Maybe..just maybe he comes around. He has enough potential to bring in at a league vet minimum IMO, assuming he'd go for that. It'd be a pretty low risk pick-up in that scenario. No need for you guys to get all riled up. I didnt watch all of his games but the ones I did watch he didnt look bad at all. He won several. Hard for me to understand the hatred the league / fans have toward this kid. jb
  12. In his defense, he did play behind a pretty bad O-line. I agree though, paying a lot for him (or Flynn for that matter) would be a risk that could hurt us.....as we've learned and re-learned over the years !!! jb
  13. One thing that intrigues me (if they draft Nassib) is the learning curve "should" be faster than normal, given he has the same coach / OC. May add some continuity, stability...or whatever word describes it !! I "think" Tannehill from the Phins had a similar situation his rookie season. jb
  14. I'm thinkin you almost have to take him if he's there at #8. Hopefully some other team takes Smith.
  15. Spin it however you want. I Never mentioned anything about linebackers. Watch the tape. Besides, if we have no D and no linebackers, I guess we'll fail no matter whos QB'n right ? Listen. we're not gonna be a good team in 2013 .....in all liklihood. So lets say smith/barkley/nassib...whoever wins the competition starts. Then gets injured. How much fun would it be to watch this under-rated athlete take over in that situation? You know you'd be glued to your flat-screen. jb
  16. What part of "compete for the position" are you guys not understanding? Read what I've said before being a sheep. Never said he's the answer. I've said put him into the rotation in Pre-season and see what happens. You might be surprised.
  17. Cuz TBD experts said so. For the league minimum...how could you not give this guy a shot? Let him compete for the job. If he makes it...cool. If not, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Riddle me this? What is wrong with his throwing mechanics ? Thats what they all say. He looks like any other QB throwing the ball to me. Tebow is a diamond in the rough.
  18. Marrone knows this. He knows Geno Smith is a head case....and not worthy of a 1st round pick. He pasted em hard at Syracuse. Thankfully we dont have to worry about Smith being drafted by the Bills. Barkley is the guy. They'll draft Barkley if he's available. Otherwise they'll take a Nassib..Manual..Bray..Glennon ...Scott etc. in round 2-3-4.
  19. Whichever of the two (or other?) is best schooled on the offense they plan on adapting is the veteran back-up they should pursue IMO. Maybe Tarvaris is that guy? I really don't know a lot about him to be honest. If whomever we draft isn't ready week 1, it'd be nice to at least have someone halfway respectable. And...someone that can help the youngsters' transition based on veteran experience. I hate like hell to give up ANY picks in our situation though jb
  20. Thanks for that explanation, Dibs.
  21. Only thing I know is none of this drivel will mean squat in 6 months. We are gonna kick Miami's ass and thats all I've got to say about that. jb
