Mods...I didn't see one, merge or close if needed. From what I've read it appears Pettines D will have a lot of different looks and several different player packages depending on down and distance in large part. A lot of versatility with his scheme. I am really looking forward to what I believe will be a vastly improved unit compared to the vanilla schemes of the last few years. I'm just wondering what you guys think in terms of this defense vs. a no-huddle offense. I am guessing there is more personnel shifts in such a D, and that an efficiently run no huddle could take advantage of it. Much like Kelly did early on in the Bills run. I'm not losing any sleep here, just curious, thats all. I'm sure Pettine has thought of this, of course. I'm also wondering if any of our defensive experts here could offer some words of wisdom on the topic. Thanks. jb

EJ says this offense is easier than Florida State's ...
jaybee replied to Lothar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buddy addresses this at some level in this interview here. He claims that EJ did exactly what his coaches instructed him to do... http://podcast.wgr550.com/wgr2/3973220.mp3?rhidownloadlink=true -
Well, I for one like positive threads. And...we may well have a few guys in the running for ROY awards. That'd suit me just fine. BUT...like I said earlier I'd be ecstatic if Doug won coach of the year ! BECAUSE...That would probably mean we had a winning record and slid into the playoffs. How cool would that be ? !!!

Analytics department yet to exist @ OBD...quote from Brandon.
jaybee replied to Drewgetz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if JP Morgan will have a mock draft next year ? Analytics? Sounds like a buzz word to me. One that will probably be long forgotten when we take the field for our first playoff game in 13 years. I'm ready now ! Applying statistical analysis to a fairly uncontrolled process is probably not a very useful endeavor. IMHO. But then, I'm not really sure how the Bills define it either so I'll leave it alone for now. jb -
Marrone's potential chameleon offense
jaybee replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very much this. and...........After watching RG3 get nearly killed last year, the last thing I want to watch (by any team) is the RO offense. -

Rd 1, Pick #16: QB EJ Manuel - Florida St.

If he plays at all, which he may well not...I expect inconsistency. Thats OK. He's a smart kid. He'll figure it out. Honestly believe EJ will be a good one down the road. I am guessing....at this point Kolb will be the starter. Myself? I'm all good with Kolb being the starter. That is if EJ isn't all the way there yet. We need to make the playoffs this year fellas. Whoever gives us the best chance to win....right here....right now.... is who we play...in my way of thinking. This is the year the network gets pissed because they have to actually cover the Bills.. How cool is that? WAY COOL !! LOL !! We are gonna make noise this year, boys....hell yeah. Cant damn wait ! -
Vince Young gets his degree in education
jaybee replied to Fezmid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We read about players like Titus Young.....and a host of others in deep trouble with the law. Vince goes out and finishes his college degree....like a good man would do. And....you say something negative like this. You sir, are pathetic. Good on Vince for getting his degree. He done proud. Hard to know what ever happened to Vince's career. He showed a lot of promise early on. Appeared to have all the physical tools in the box. I wonder what the rest of the story is...... Getting cut by Philly and Buffalo and all. Whatever the case I wish him well. -
Mario Williams: no love for

Fellas we've got ourselves a potential distraction. This is not good for the highest payed player on our roster. I'm concerned about this situation. -
Worst Player Offseason Power Rankings
jaybee replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow thats pretty depressing ! Not sure I agree with Nassib being on the list. He seems in a reasonable situation, especially when compared to some of the thugs on that list ! LOL ! Thanks for that. jb -
Titus Young released 2x, arrested 4x
jaybee replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good grief. Thats a train wreck right there. I hope this story eventually has a happy ending...but man, I don't know. Thanx, jb -
Liked him too. A lot. Was looking forward to seeing him take a few snaps this year.

I Like Doug, but did he pay attention during English class?
jaybee replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, the post game interviews will still be better than listening to Bellichick....I reckon. -
Is Whaley cheap ?

Kolb looked to be spinning a nice ball as well. Love the smokin pace they are running these sessions at. Good stuff...thanks. -
This most definately is not the same old bills
jaybee replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great idea ! I think I'm going to make myself a tee shirt. "BILLS 2013 - ITS ON LIKE A MOFO" I'll put my Avatar shot of the Buffalo crushing Brady in a pink sweater on there. Yee Haw ! -
2013 R....O....Y.....
jaybee replied to Over 29 years of fanhood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your sig line(s) is hilarious ! You may be right on this. Could happen. Only thing I'd like even more is Marrone getting coach of the year. That would mean we had a good season !!! -
You bring up an interesting point. There's no film on this offense. It'll be hard for NE to prepare I would think, especially if EJ is the starter week #1. Same goes for the defense I suppose.
-
You're probably right. Ya know, looking at some of those throws above almost reminded me of Randall Cunningham. I was always amazed at how effortless it looked when Randall launched the ball 60 yards down field !! EJ does appear to have all the tools to be a very good QB. I wonder if he'll be ready to start week 1 this year ? It'll be an interesting year fer sher.....on both sides of the football !!
-
I don't recall either. To say Fitz had a slow release would be inaccurate though. Fitz got rid of the ball quick.

Mario Williams #72 on the NFL top 100
jaybee replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very much this. And....if they can pressure QB,s it really makes the DB's jobs a whole lot easier. I for one am really looking forward to our defense with Pettine at the helm. Wont be surprised one bit if we are in the top 3rd defenses in the NFL......this year and beyond. I hope he spends a lot of time watching film of the Giants defense against the Patriots. The Giants seem to pressure Brady well. He becomes an entirely different QB when the pressure is on, even gets rattled...and frustrated at times. -
George Sauer dies at 69. Didn't realize he was anti-football
jaybee replied to bbb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember George well. Had his card back in the day. That Super bowl game when they beat Baltimore 16-7 solidified my passion for the game of football. RIP George. -
You just couldn't ask for a better start to a story book season. Getting thrown right into the fire week 1 at home. Against the mighty Patriots. This is gonna be great. If...by some act of God we win this game,,,,oh my....where could it go from there. Huge game with potential playoff implications week one. I want to see New England play an outstanding game week one......in a losing cause.... and I dont want to see ANYONE from EITHER team get injured. I'd rather see us beat the best of the best when they are at full strength. Kul-aid is a great drug and I aint quitting any time soon !! jb
