At about the mid-point of the season, some thoughts
jaybee replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe I've missed it but one thing I havent seen a lot of mention on was Thad's toughness. Coming right back in after that hit to the ribs showed a lot of heart, toughness and a willingness to help his team. I honestly think using the screen pass would help this offense tremendously. I think (as much as I hated seeing EJ go down) we've at least uncovered a viable option at the back-up QB position. And....I'm confused as to where Matt Flynn and Dennis?? Dixon fit into the roster going forward. -

Ooops....I retract my previous post. Wow !! -

And they lost. Thats why they say stats are for loosers.......and of course fantasy geeks. -
Yea, but after we crush the Saints tomorrow, we'll get a solid 30 seconds...highlighting how poorly their beloved Saints played. I'm OK with that !!

What A Win Sunday Would Do For Our Team
jaybee replied to Bryce Paup's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My biggest concern defensively is containing Darin Sproles. If we could keep him below 100 yards from scrimmage I like our chances. He's a big threat and they know how to use him. I probably sound like a broken record but we need to throw in some new plays offensively. Moving the chains is huge...and consuming time. Keeping Brees on the sideline. I'm hoping beyond hope that they utilize Frank the Tank Summers on a few screens and / or short out patterns, let him get a head of steam and do some damage. Thad needs to have a little better "touch" on the short passes too. I hope he gets single coverage on Marquise early in the game. That would cause the Saints to respect the pass, open up the field a bit even if its unsuccessful. I see this as our biggest test of the year right here. Only Seattle on the road would be a bigger test right now as I see it. I am very much looking forward to this game. Win or lose, I want them to give NO a scare. Its going to take another defensive clinic, and more innovation offensively to get this job done. Basically its going to take a perfect game to beat these guys. We have the tools, we just need to execute...and be smart. GO BILLS !! -
Maybe its a good thing if Graham plays. If he's not 100% he may not be much of a factor.

Going to Nov 3 Chiefs game. R 1 year olds Free if on lap?

+1...that noise will be hard on his tender ear drums. Makes me a little nervous for you bringing the little man to the game. Hopefully it all works out and likely will. Just be careful, it gets pretty crazy there. Edit: Very good idea posted by no Saint below: it seems you are 100% set on bringing him - to get back to the original question about whether a ticket is needed ---- maybe getting the third seat would help with some of the issues being discussed? More space for you and the people around you, an area that could be a little buffered in case you end up next to someone sloppy drunk, or a big guy that leaves you feeling crowded. -
When were you most wrong on a player?
jaybee replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's not a Bill, but my most recent "gotcha" has to be Geno Smith. I wanted no part of this kid with our 1st pick. I liked his physical ability but did not like his demeanor when the going got tough. The kid looks cool as a cucumber for the Jets whether he's playing well or not. Nice even kiel. I did not expect him to start, much less play as well (although somewhat inconsistent) as he has. Nice work Geno Smith. I was wrong on you, Sir. -
Actually the OP isn't the only one that gets annoyed with the negativity. Quite a few do that I've spoken with. We won today fellas. Enjoy the moment. And....stop firing and trading everybody after a bad play !! Enjoy the moment. Things are changing.

Official pre-game thread Bills vs Dolphins, Oct. 20, 2013
jaybee replied to Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My peonic, couch-gating, arm-chair analysis to winning this game is: -Pressure and beat up on Tannehill. Early, often. Make him uncomfortable in the pocket. -Take advantage of their aggressive defense (and they are good) by looping it over their heads to Freddy / CJ. Please offense, use the screen pass. - Keep fresh legs in the game. Its gonna be in the 90's in Miami today. - No silly penalties negating 1st and 3rd down big gains. -
We should've traded A. Williams when his stock was high

Potential band-width violation. A warning has been issued !! -
If Kevin Kolb were healthy EJ never would have played and we'd be 5-1. EJ is more injury prone than Kolb on a percentage basis. Yes...the legend stuff on Kiko is probably really bad...and I havent and wont look at any of that. We've got Thad....and I am seriously upbeat on this kid. Thad will become the starter, and we'll have a serviceable back-up in EJ. 3rd string=Flynn. Cut Tuel. Good arsenal right there.

I reckon all teams are to be honest. I'm not sure how well we match up against these guys. Dont know enough about them this year..my bad. They've got an aggressive front 7 defensively. One we could exploit with bubble screens but that wont happen and I cannot for the life of me understand why. Offensively Tannehill has been pretty efficient when I've watched him but we should be able to pressure him. If we can hold their running game to less than a hundred yards I think we've got a reasonable shot to win. The betting line of Miami being favored by 8 seems inflated and I dont say that because I'm a homer. Well, maybe a little ! LOL ! We need to go .500 to finish 7-9. What better place to start than Miami.

Thad Lewis Is A Better Option Than EJ Manuel Right Now
jaybee replied to Bryce Paup's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we'll be just fine with Thaddeus. Your description fits EJ too. I really don't anticipate any drop-off from EJ to Thaddeus. In fact I wouldn't be surprised at all if Thaddeus gives us a better chance of winning. Not trolling here, fellas. But...EJ has not played well. I know the board loves him to death, I like him too and fully expect big things from him down the road. But today, he's a below average QB. Thad has some reps. Our defense is healthy. If I was a better I'd take Buffalo with the 7 1/2 points. We're gonna killem. Yeah thats right we're gonna send Cincy home talking to themselves. -

Didnt read the 5 pages, but I agree with OP. You've got to look hard to find a QB playing worse than EJ Manuel. For the Buffalo bills its all about Defense and running game. We will do just fine with Thad....or Jeff.....Or whomever they install at QB. EJ...so far is a bust. He may be good one day but I'm really looking forward to someone besides EJ running the show. Yer not gonna win with EJ....not just yet. -
Correct. It absolutely doesn't. Besides, I'm looking forward to Thad. He could light it up. Stranger things have happened in this league. He wont be much of a downgrade from EJ at all and in fact will probably be an upgrade. Plus we've got some players back. 5300 tickets left and an extension to try and unload them...one day extension I believe.

.....and I remember when the pedigree QB of Green Bay went down, the Magic Man, Don Majkowski. He was also replaced by a no name. His name was Brett Favre. I'm routin hard for this kid. As far as I'm concerned the job is his to lose. Highly doubt there is much drop-off from EJ to Thad. Not at this point in time anyway. Light it up, Thad. Yee Haw !

Off topic: Listening to Leo Roth here, he talked to Russ today. Russ told him they were in the mix and working hard to get Josh Freeman in here. Josh decided to go to Minnesota. He also said Russ really likes Tuel long term and didnt put him on the PS for fear another team would scoop him up. FWIW...

If we had a top 10 Q.B. this team would be undefeated
jaybee replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Surprised this hasnt been mentioned more than it has. I'm OK with our new head coach but we had this problem in training camp. When Kolb went down he had to sign a veteran QB at that point, and not go into the season with an un-drafted FA backup. Marrone for whatever reason did not address it and it has come back and bitten us right in the ass. I hoped and prayed EJ would stay healthy but as we all know, injuries happen...and happen a lot. Not signing a vet back up after Kolb went down was a huge mistake. I said it back then, I say it now. Maybe just maybe Thad will surprise us. I do understand and agree with that decision.....at this point. Go Thad, Go Bills. -
I can finally enjoy football this sunday.

Well said. -
It really shouldn't matter as much as it does who is at the QB position. There are enough play makers on our offense where little dink and dunks should move the ball. Screen passes are conspicuously absent and we've got the weapons for an effective screen game. Just cant imagine why they've abandoned that play ....almost completely. Run those plays, get the QB (whomever it is) into a rhythm. Gain confidence. Take advantage of the offensive weapons on the roster. Man it sure is aggravating at times !!!
-
Our secondary, contrary to what we all thought has not been much of an issue at all. Its got to be the coaching. No? Hell, it almost looks like they could install us that have posted in this thread to the secondary and we'd tear em up !!

According to a report I heard on the network about an hour ago, they claimed he is an unrestricted free agent. They said they (bucs) were waiting for the need to arise at QB position due to injury and try to work a trade but that strategy never played out. Said also the Bucs spoke with all 31 teams and no one showed interest. They said the Bucs owe him the remainder of his salary for 2013...which according to them was 6.2 mil. Who knows ? LOL ! I think a fresh start would do the kid good. Jax does seem to make a lot of sense as others here have pointed out.
