Kyle Orton rumor [update : now signed]
jaybee replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely. Put EJ on the 3rd string or practice squad. He will develop eventually but its going to take time. We dont need a backup, we need a starter. If we get one....fasten your seat belts. -
He'll land on his feet as an OL coach in about a year or so though. He is clearly in over his head as a HC and I think the timing of a new regime taking ownership is pretty good. We'll only lose another season or two this way instead of 3 or 4.

What is the point of playing Palmer?
jaybee replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really wish I could help but I got nuthin. -
Whoever is punting will get one helluva aerobic work-out for this team. Busiest roster spot for quite a while on this franchise. Punting aint for sissies with an offense like ours.
-
True. We do. But...all NFL teams dont show their game plan in pre-season and many of them still execute, albeit with a vanilla playbook. Solid execution. We need it. Maybe they will surprise us all week 1 in Chicago. Not making that bet but it'd sure be nice !
-
I like it.

Well, I hope you are right. All eyes on week one now. I could go for a nice Kings ration of Crow right about now !! If he lights it up, I'll be admitting my mistake loud and clear on this kid. Right here in these forums. I'm just not seeing what you are seeing and by Golly I want to be VERY wrong here.

Marrone open to bringing in another viable QB.
jaybee replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting point and I agree. I cant help but to wonder if it is our coaching staff that is ruining all of these QB's. They all seem to have regressed. Maybe the players are fine, but they are being ruined by bad coaching ? -
I disagree. Wins do count in the regular season.
-
No idea what his stats are, or who is to blame for EJ's sub-par career to date. What bothers me is watching him. He just doesn't seem to have the CPU speed necessary for reacting to what an opposing D has to throw at him. Forget about the wounded ducks he throws, he is not reading fast enough. Not even close. He looks like a project QB that would be well served with a few years on a practice squad. Eventually the game will slow down and he'll be fine but right now he is a detriment to the team hands down.

TC fights, ineffectual play, is Marrone losing the team?
jaybee replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh man! Every once in a while I spit coffee on the keyboard. By golly that right there was funny ! Thanks. -
I'm glad someone else said it first. Its painful to watch. Must have been a long afternoon for you fans at the game ey?
-
True. What really bothers me about EJ though are a couple of things. He has that deer in the headlights look, as though he is confused about what the opposing defense is throwing at him. And...much to my surprise several of the passes I've seen him throw just dont have a lot of zip on them. Yea, he's new, I get that. He may end up being a great QB someday and I hope he does. Right now though, I look at Gino, Nassib and Simms and frankly to me they look to have much more control running an O than does EJ. I'm very concerned about our QB situation overall.
-
Yes. They should do this if possible, and if a good fit is available. We may have the worse QB situation in the league as it stands now.
-
The poor kid looks totally lost on the field. I thought it was the OC. He has a QB coach now. He looks lost still. Marrone goofed on this move. He needs to fix it. He is gone. Whiffing on Manuel is the reason. Root. Route. Whatever. I said it way back when...Take JOHNNY FOOTBALL. Didnt happen. Wont happen. JF will be a successful QB, EJ will not. He'll be a good back up...as long as the starter stays healthy.
-
EJ will be the demise of coach Marrone's career. EJ was his first major decision. The one that will get him fired. EJ Manuel has no business in the NFL. I love the kid, frankly. I route, and will continue to route for him. The poor kid looks lost out there. I'm depressed.

Super. Thanks fellas.

Anybody know if this game will be televised in the black-out zone? I'm assuming it wont be on....but I hope it is. Thanks.

Stats prediction - EJ Manuel
jaybee replied to DisplacedBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If healthy I think thats reasonable. If he does this well or better I'd say maybe a .500 season, or maybe even a game above that. Hope I'm wrong........and they go undefeated !! -
Thats all I'm saying...or trying to say. I'm guessing (as said earlier) that Hoyers development in the new system is stunted by sharing reps with Manziel. In both practice and pre-season games. And...having a suspended player (Josh Gordon) in the receiver mix just doesn't make sense to me when you are trying to establish chemistry in a new system. We'll see how it goes. Cleve does look to have a defense that could make some noise this year as well. I like this team. Buffalo Bills West. Please dont kill me I'm too tired. Just sharing my thoughts, thats all. LOL !
-
I would add to this that Hoyer is in tune with the full playbook, where Johnny is still learning. This gives the offense more versatility to throw at an opposing defense. If Cleveland has a QB problem, to be honest it is a problem I'd like to have here in Bills country !
-
I thought both Manziel and Hoyer were off the mark on several throws in that game. I dont blame either of them. Frankly I would aim the cannon at the coaching staff. By splitting reps in practice I dont think either of them had sufficient time to develop the chemistry needed for crisp timing patterns. Additionally, I am confused as to why Josh Gordon has had as much PT as he has. While we dont know how long he'll be suspended, its pretty certain he wont be in the line-up week one. Put his replacement in there, let the QB's get used to whomever that is. JMHO of course.

Stevie Johnson Struggling to Secure #3 Spot with 49ers
jaybee replied to WickedGame's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meh...whats the difference? I believe we are a solid team but until we get solid play at the QB position we will not have a winning record. Stevie or no Stevie....it just doesnt matter at this point in time. We need solid play at the QB position. Other than that we are strong. Well, then there's the coaching staff. I'm starting to wonder about that too. -
I dunno man. I have low expectations this year. 6-7 wins maybe ? Sure hope I'm wrong on this but I think we are an average at best coached team with a great roster, one of the best rosters in the NFL but without a QB or an OC I'm just not feeling it.. Like I say.....I hope I'm wrong but man, I just dont know.

Johnny Football to donate $500 every time he flips the bird. Class act I'm thinkin.
