  1. being in last group is understandable, but EJ is only the starter if he beats Kolb, and Kolb himself should be ranked ahead of Geno/Sanchez, Gabbert, Locker, and Matt "2 start" Flynn. I don't know how Gabbert, is ahead of ANYONE. and Locker, pretty much the same. and yes, Romo in "Next group" absolutely. i know people want to hate on all things Cowboys, but those kind of stats do not lie... and I don't know if any QB could do better behind a lousy O-line and lousy D. i know Brady and Manning couldn't... not running for their life and still having to put up 30 a game, no way.
  2. rounds aside, he's going to a place where the coach and GM said they hope he never plays. not exactly a QB's dream... going to a team with a durable franchise guy still in his prime years. the actual location hurts worse than his spot in the draft.
  3. Urbik was a name guy.. not like Buddy had to look under every rock. A highly rated Wisconsin lineman is not under the radar; not to anyone who follows the draft a little. he was projected as a 3rd round pick, and then got drafted in the 3rd round. this wasn't so much of a "find" as it was our Oline was desperate so we signed one of the highest rated interior Olineman of that draft class available. bit of a no-brainer. not to say something can't be made of Scott... Brandon Moore was a nobody before Marrone go ahold of him. but i wouldn't say we've done it before recently.
  4. if you can find around 25 teams with a definitively better WR then fine, he isn't a #1. but it's just a position, not a statement of greatness or being elite. if he is the guy the Bills use as their #1, that is the #1 target on majority of plays and such, and capably does the job, he's a #1. and btw, if Bills don't have a #1 then how do the Dolphins? Wallace was #2 in 2010 behind Ward despite having more yards. in 2011 and 2012 maybe he was and got the same # of yards as Johnson.
  5. seems kinda dumb for everyone to be like "who cares? he was undrafted"... i mean, have you been in this forum? there are 20 pages on this guy's signing, which i believe is a few times more than some of our draft picks. pretty much everyone's wondering about this guy and how good he can be and talks about him.. my uncle.. step-grandparents family friend's nephew.. so i don't think the point is about the risk, it's about people are [overly] excited about this guy and maybe quite a few are going to be let down. and yes, there are reports that are unfavorable. "up and down", with only mentions of the negatives, is a kind way of saying he struggled. saying he couldn't get the drill in 4 tries, was sent to the back of the line, before getting it on his 5th, is probably not a good sign. it may very well be too early to "worry" (if you are one of those with the high hopes), which is the question, but not really a laughable one.. could be a legitimate concern. this guy did not go undrafted b/c of pot alone.
  6. and next to Da'Rick, the next best UDFA this year for Bills is probably ILB Keith Pough... seems to have some promise. two of the best ILBs of recent Ravens/Jets defenses were UD as well, so not like there isn't a track record (Ellerbe, Bart Scott).
  7. yeah, but as the drafter he's always going to try and defend his pick, right? guy like that won't want to admit a bust (who does?).
  8. haha, King Diamond?? funny thing is i remember her on American Idol back when i watched it.. and they MADE her do country! she kept trying to be more rock with her song choices, including a pretty good version of Heart's Alone. but they packaged her as country, so in that sense i suppose she is a little bit of a Nashville machine product. she can sing though. Faith was always a questionable choice, not bad, but to sing basically a Joan Jett song without that toughness and grit was a little lacking. I fear they will do the same with Carrie, but she may be able to rock it a bit w/o being phony.
  9. it won't be near 7 figures, bet he makes less than 500k... but still, who knows what his new college coach would be like? he certainly wasn't developing his skills much as it was and maybe the new guy would mess him up more, so impossible to say what he should have done. at least in NFL you know you'll get solid coaching. where staying might have helped though is simply maturing, and proving to teams you aren't a brat.
  10. they probably just know it irks us and will respond. like people said, it's to inspire discussion and controversy. we pretty much always win 6 or 7 games and pretty much ALWAYS end up 30th the next season when we don't lose anyone (or at least lose more than we gain) so it never really makes sense. also, never agreed that defending champ should be #1. by that logic, there is no point to creating rankings, you would simply list teams in reverse draft order and be done with it. that said, i'd be inclined to put the Ravens high because they brought in about as much talent as they lost.
  11. there is a buff news article (or blog) on this. anyone mind posting the content, or at least the gist... buff news articles no longer work from work.
  12. TT coach said he wasn't a problem and didn't complain about getting the ball or anything. so sure, maybe he's growing up (even if i'm skeptical of people who belittle/harrass their teachers and coaches). my only point was that it isn't just about weed.. he has other issues too which is probably why Honey Badger was drafted and Da'rick was not.
  13. there seems to be a misconception here that the marijuana suspensions were his only issues. it was more than that. in fact , i think the weed was probably the least of NFL teams worries.. it was more about bad attitude. i can't link everything i've read or saw, but here's a few things: - threatened/harrassed his high school teachers - poor attitude in games, quit on routes he wasn't the target - appeared on games changers (NFLN), made worst impression of the bunch... seemed goal was buying best clothes and shoes (others mentioned family, etc.) and compared himself to Dez Bryant - badgered coaches.. here is an example from a Tennessee radio show: On Rogers: Countless sources paint a picture of a guy who truly is allowed to operate in his own little world with little repercussion. Multiple sources say he’s constantly cussing and belittling Charlie Baggett his position coach with impunity. Say nothing of the way he talks to fellow wide receivers, other team members and support staff personnel. Jayson Swain and Wes Rucker were talking about him shouting at Baggett on the sidelines during the Kentucky game. I understand this goes on all the time. Not a one-time thing, but another day at the office. ‘This guy mouths off to anyone he can. If you got him on the show he would brag about it to ya. He doesn’t care.’ I'm not saying all these are true, or big factors, or that he can't change. maybe just immaturity and maybe he was humbled by going undrafted. but if he has a bad attitude, and there is no doubt concerns he does, it may be harder to change and likelier to be his downfall that weed.
  14. well, he is one of the better Guards in the league, and reportedly wants to both be paid like one AND do it for a contender. teams probably figure he's old and should take less. if we can get him though, i'd take him... i don't know squat about those guards bandit mentioned. drats... no CB. i didn't think so either, but was hoping i missed someone. well, there's always Bradley Roby in the next draft. i'm ok with Alonso and Bradham playing inside, esp. since many times we will only have 1 ILB. sure, Dansby would be better for us this year, but I don't really care. We aren't going to the SuperBowl. will he still be better than our young guys next year? if we can get him on a very reasonable contract, fine... but i wouldn't go crazy over him.
  15. Odds are against Robey.. i mean 5'7"? yikes, man... worth a shot, but i dunno about a roster spot. for Dickerson, gotta be either Gragg or B.Smith in your scenario. we often keep 5 WRs, and you have 6, so if Dickerson goes is, he's gotta be a WR or TE, and we aren't keeping more than 9 total.
  16. i'm more concerned with G and CB. i don't understand where the confidence comes from sometimes. let's at least hear a plan for G. are they moving Hairston or some other OT there? is there one of these guards who did very little in preseason last year like Snow or Williams that they see potential in? until i hear something, that is a big gaping hole to me. and CB.. ugh. depth is atrocious. Brooks seems to be one of these guys people put an inordinate amount of faith in based on very little. he didn't start in college and people say "well he was behind Claiborne and Honey Badger", all well and good, but that doesn't prove anything other than he's unproven. it's ookay to have some hope, but he's a 4th rounder who barely plays, and had a hard time getting his head turned around when he did, and he is one injury away from being in the starting 2. his status should probably be more of a 4th CB until proven otherwise. Rogers (a 7th rounders) was poor last year, and Crezdon Butler was cut about 4 times last year.
  17. I'm not sure of the quotes, so maybe. But neither Dickerson nor Gragg is much of a powerful blocker. I still would not be surprised to see one in the end. Also hoping we're right and that Hopkins takes over as PK fulltime. Would hate wasting a spot on kickoff specialist.. ugh.
  18. I think you may have to make room for a FB... i don't see one here, but they have talked about having one a few times and it sounds like they will. Also, Dorin Dickerson has a good shot.. maybe over Gragg or Smith. If they add a CB somehow, which would be a good idea, Meeks could be on chopping block (hey the history of Buddy's 5th-7th rounders is not favorable to making the team). Otherwise, yeah... pretty much.
  19. who says it's complaining? saying what he woulda done instead, on the record.. no harm. personally i'd have been tempted to go CB in first round 2 (Banks) then WR (Allen or Dobson if Woods was gone). After that, woulda mixed in OL and TE probably earlier than TJ 2.0 and the 2nd safety. not going to bother remembering exactly who was there.
  20. i agree completely. pay him top dollar for a safety because he is one. Spiller may be the only other elite player on this team, and he did it for one year. Byrd is probably the best player on the team over the last 4 years. hes worth more than Mario and you gave him 16 million.. sure you can find 1/2 of that the give to Byrd. if, for some reason, he won't sign a deal that makes him the highest paid safety (no idea why he wouldn't) then tag him again. still worth it. and tell him you will too, so he know he isn't going anywhere. still think they are probably low-balling him though, and by that i mean any less than the 8 miIlion Goldson got. He's just as good, hope they aren't shafting him.
  21. i'm sure Marrone knows him, but don't get your hopes up since the guy was not even given an UDFA grade in any listing I found. no grade at all. I agree it's CB though. Marrone may fin a G to deveop, but CB is a disaster. Brooks as #3? you kidding? and Crezdon Butler is #4? he as cut 4 times last year. Scary depth, probably worst in the league.
  22. We had 3 safeties that they should feel pretty good about.. yes we needed another, but they took him in 4th. Taking a 5th Safety doesn't seem smart because its very unlikely 5 make the team anyway. And are you cutting one of the other guys? Doubt it. They currently have Brooks as the #3 CB, one injury away from starting... he didn't even start in college. That is frighteningly thin depth, whereas they are overloaded with bodies at safety. I think they should have balanced it better, as even a lower rated CB would have a better chance of making the team and contributing.
  23. no way.. SF, Philly, and maybe Seatlle will like Scott as a backup for their read-option guys... enough to draft him in 4th or 5th.
  24. Kolb is that competition. it was a mid-tier signing and they have plans for him. i think its different from Washington cuz they were done with Rex Grossman by that draft.. we just signed Kolb, so i think the competition is between him and Manual and lesser extent T-Jax..
  25. TE would probably be biggest need on the team, except that you don't really need to use one. If you do want to though, we're in trouble. Even if Chandler is healthy enough, he's still only guy above waiver wire pickup level.... while other teams are getting a 2nd TE better that him. AND he's in last year of his contract besides. So if you want one, bug need,,. but get creative and maybe use fullback and H-back like Dickerson more. Can still grab at least a late rounder.
