I would like to run a tournament of sorts here on PPP. Here is how it will work:
1. A bracket tournament of 16 players. To participate, reply to this note saying you would like to play. First 16 acceptable candidates will be selected by the judge. Me.
2. Each match up will have a unique topic defined by the judge. Me. There will be two participants in a head to head match up for that topic. Each match will have its own thread. Once the match is decided, the thread will be taken down by the judge. Me. This will be done so as not to clutter the board. The results and follow on brackets will be posted on a master standing thread.....maybe this thread. There will be re-seeding each round so you will not necessarily know who your next opponent will be. Comments and critiques will be freely allowed in this thread but not by Beerboy. Please refrain from commenting in the individual match up threads.
3. Most, but not all of the topics will be political in nature. If the players agree on which side of the argument each will take that will be fine. If both players want to take the same side, the sides will be assigned by the judge. Me. Feel free to take the side of a political argument that would be the opposite of what everyone would expect.
4. I'm thinking one topic per day, excluding weekends, but may take a day off here and there or even run a few matches in parallel.
5. A match will be decided when either:
a. Significant pwnage has been administered as determined by the judge. Me. Or
b. The thread has gone on to a stalemate and the winner will be decided by the judge. Me. If I cannot decide I will do a GvG to find the winner.
6. Players should feel free to use logic, insults, emotional pleas, cheating, torture or any other device to pwn the other player.
7. Links to Youtube videos are allowed but only one per player per thread. Links to factual information are also allowed but often found to be boring to the judge. Me. Links to editorials are cheating, but then again cheating is allowed.
8. Thread titles of the match ups will have the tag Sweet 16 and start with the word Tournament.
9. If you have any questions feel free to ask them but be aware that they may annoy the judge. Me.
10. There really isn't anything else but it seemed weird to have 9 rules.

If there are parts of it that favor the players would you give the Bills a pass for never signing anyone and not fielding a team? What makes Byrd more important than every single other player in the NFL that is abiding by the rules?

Is it possible to start a thread and ban individuals from posting in that thread?
Based on reading this thread I would like to propose a thread entitled "Left vs. Right Whack-a-doo-athon" where only two posters are allowed in and everyone else is banned to observing only. I would like to see how it works out. I can't say who the two posters would be but I'm guessing the conversation somehow evolves to software based invasive carp.

It seems to me that law attempts to create an artificial scarcity of stock advice much like copyright laws attempt to do to protect original material. I'm surprised you support one but not another.

The protections being discussed are nothing more than a protection from a certain type of fraud, which ultimately serve to protect the consumer from bad actors.
Thanks for clarifying because it sounded like protection from theft which I know you are against so I was confused. Just to make sure I understand: buying something with a usage license and then violating that usage license is neither theft nor fraud but besmirching you is a crime against humanity? Is that about right?

Feel free to replicate what you feel is "my advice" and sell it as you see fit. Be sure, however, not to market it as my advice, lest I purchase some from you, and sue you for fraud for misrepresenting what your product actually is.
If you want to give it away for free, however, you are absolutely free to do so, in so far as you don't falsify "advice" and attribute it to me in a way that is damaging to my character. (again, liable and slander).
Aren't you creating an artificial scarcity of "character" there? I mean character is no more tangible than music or advice. Why should it be protected?

Anyway, this thread is for comments about the video. I think there is a thread for simultaneously erroneous, obtuse, and falsely superior comments somewhere else on the board. If not you can create one. But once you create it, you won't have created it anymore.

I'm all ears.
They used an ugly chick for two reasons:
1. Attractive artists usually make money and don't have to worry that much about what is being stolen from them. They should; but they don't because they are musicians and they are dumb.
2. They use the ugly chick to appeal to the granola crowd who generally think stealing is ok. Those are the "minds" they are trying to change. If they used a babe there, the granolas would wish that the little girl took the money and then bashed the musician over the head because they are jealous of attractive people.
