Padres rookie Merrill plays like he’s been in the league 10 years. Hit a game tying HR in the 9th tonight….. 2nd time this week.

But you still have extraordinarily poor reading comprehension. It’s staggering really. Peace

My bad. I saw the notification, clicked it and it sent me to one post down. I didn’t read it closely enough.

Watt brothers are right up there. -
Dude stop. I never said anything about Josh running. Where are you getting this crap from?
-
Really? When did I say McD purposely wanted to score less? You straight up pulled that out of thin air and I find that dishonest. I said I was done and I should have stuck to that. The point about the driving lesson should be clear. When driving, eyes are tools. If you can’t use all the tools at your disposal, you’re not going to drive as well. If you’re limited in plays you can call or when you can call them, you’re not going to be your best self as an OC. Does that mean NewEras dad wanted him to crash? No, it doesnt. But blaming only NewEra would be incorrect.

I stopped reading right there and erased the rest because you’re clearly setting up a ridiculous straw man. I’ve explained what I believe to be McD’s rationale and also said I don’t completely disagree with it but if you prefer to put words in my mouth then you do you. I’m done with you in this thread. Maybe in some other thread you’ll be more willing to read objectively but clearly you’re too emotionally involved in this particular thread for reasons I don’t understand.
-
Lots of words. A “bro” thrown in. Still incorrect. I’d ask why you think things were working so well in the beginning of the season, with the exception of the Jets game where Josh was clearly at fault, and abruptly stopped after the Miami game…..but nah. Why bother?. NewEra is learning to drive. His dad forces him to close his eyes. Car crashes. Clearly NewEra wasn’t driving properly. Same thing.
-
You said “what Dorsey was doing wasn’t working here” or similar. That statement puts it all on Dorsey implying he had free reign to run everything he wanted. But you don’t know whether that is true or not.
-
Lol so in your “mind” you’ve already “won” the argument? Congrats. You’re fully aware of all of the behind the scenes factors at OBD? Gotcha.
-
To be clear I don’t totally disagree with the notion of complementary football. It IS important to keep the defense rested. We DID have significant injuries on that side of the ball so the number of plays our defense had to be on the field WAS an important stat. But if your going to ask that the offense focus on sustaining drives above all, your going to take away parts of the playbook and if you expect scoring not to be impacted, you’re mistaken.
-
Lots of words but still not much listening. In a way it was the “same offense”. It was also a restricted fraction of the same offense. It was there to see. Look, you can worship Josh, pin all the problems of the world on Dorsey and be very emphatic about it all. It does not make these things true. But……if Clevend’s offense hums it’ll be Stefanski, if it flops it’ll be Dorsey. That’s a layup so congrats.
-
Not exactly what I said, but if is easier for you to argue against then sure go ahead. When you gripe about Brady not being able to get points despite having the greatest QB in the history of the world……and you will……my reply will read simply: ”Strike two”. Ask yourself this….if a great, good, average, below average, or poor OC gets their playbook nerfed in favor of being complementary, would they see increasing or diminishing returns? It’s almost as if Dorsey forgot all the plays he had deployed against Miami just one week earlier.
-
Maybe he was being sarcastic because your post was completely based on supposition and incorrect assumptions. Let me see if I interpret it correctly: The team had Diggs and Allen so if they don’t score a bazillion points it is the OC’s fault. If that’s true then are you saying Diggs and Allen just aren’t quite good enough to overcome Dorsey’s shortcomings? The HC talked ad nauseam about complementary football. You don’t think it’s remotely possible that he wasn’t just blathering to the press but he was also restricting what Dorsey could do? The play calling in the first Miami game seemed pretty good but maybe Dorsey got memory loss or something after that. Or…..maybe something else. You’re being a homer which is fine but open your eyes a bit. Joe Brady doesn’t come with any guarantees and it’s quite possible our real OC is McDermott.
-
I like McDermott and maybe his style will win, but the offense will not be what it once was. He’s made post game comments after WINS about better complementary football which implied the offense scored too quickly for his liking. It’s not without some truth; balance is important and our defense was decimated with injuries which could have been the result of overuse, but…… look at the play calling and results of the first Miami game last year. Then look at the play calling in the Jax debacle the following week. The same guy did both those things? Or was our HC setting too many parameters? Brady’s play calling wasn’t terrible but his full body of work has yet to reveal itself and our best weapon non-qb has been discarded. We’ll see.

Unfortunately this is probably true. Brady is being painted as a hero and Dorsey as the scapegoat but these are false narratives.
