Buffalo's new stadium - will Super Bowl be played in it?
LabattBlue replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
^^^ This. -
This Bon Jovi boycott cannot rank any lower on the stupidity meter. Don't play his songs on your bar juke box? DJ's don't play any of their music? Bands don't include any of their songs in your set lists? If you want to start a petition against his potential ownership of the team go ahead(not that it makes any difference in how this plays out), but all this other stuff is petty. What's next? A bonfire where you burn anything Bon Jovi related?

Golisano to bid on Bills & propose new WS staduim
LabattBlue replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know many here are not Sabres fans at all, but don't believe for a minute that Golisano/Quinn didn't play a major role in the July 1st, 2007 fiasco when Drury & Briere both left, and then in a panic move the Sabres matched the Vanek offer sheet. Here we are 7 years later, and the Sabres still haven't recovered from that day. While Regier is definitely partially responsible, don't forget about upper management. -
The New stadium must be a dome
LabattBlue replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My 2 cents... 1 - It is a myth that the Bills have a "cold weather" advantage. It's not true today, it was not true in the SB years, nor the years before that. 2 - Does it make for a more sterile environment? Maybe, but the bottom line from an ownership point of view is filling seats, not making sure the people that do show up are all prepared to scream from start to finish. I seem to remember the King Dome being renowned for being unbelievably loud. 3 - I'd prefer a retractable roof stadium, but it it is a fixed roof, that is a 1000x better than what we have today. IMO the biggest problem isn't the snow and the cold, it is the rainy days with temps between 30-50 that can occur from October on. 4 Multi-purpose stadium? I'd built it with the guarantee that there will be 10 Bills games a year. Nothing more, nothing less. Anything "substantial" beyond that is pie in the sky. Final Four, BCS Games, and other mega events don't just fall in your lap when a dome is built. It isn't going to be a convention center/stadium like Lucas Oil Stadium, so what other events are going to be held there? The days of huge stadium concerts seem to be over(when was the last time one was held at RWS), so what does that leave? The hotel room total will never be sufficient to attract the major events, and new hotels aren't going to be built that will have low occupancy for 95 percent of the year. I have never owned season tickets, but the day an indoor facility is announced, my season ticket deposit will go in the mail. -
Batavia possible stadium site?
LabattBlue replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another advantage of building on current site...field house and administrative buildings do not need to be replaced. For all those touting a NF site, sorry, but with all the corruption in NF, there is no way I can see a stadium being built there EVER. -
Batavia possible stadium site?
LabattBlue replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I was a betting man, after all these studies/meetings/site visits take place, the new stadium will end up adjacent to RWS(one of the surrounding parking lots), or in place of the current stadium. PS IMO...this would be the best choice. -
I'd love to be convinced that I am wrong, but what you stated above is laughable. With Williams track record in Tampa, it wouldn't suprise me if he doesn't even make it out of training camp, let alone being a more productive WR than Johnson, and that is coming from someone that was never that big of a fan of Stevie.
-
How can the Bills be a "win now" or "going for it" team when they let arguably their best player(Byrd) walk in FA and then traded their best WR(Johnson). I am okay with the retooling, but make no mistake about it, their moves are not indicative of a win now team.

I'm still around. I don't think I've posted since this past summer. Between the Sabres and the Bills, other than looking towards the draft, there is not much worth posting about. Happy News Years!

Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
LabattBlue replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could not have said it any better. Well done! -
The most common mistake made on this board is assuming that you are talking about intelligent college graduates. Reality is, in some cases you are dealing with people who because of gifted athletic talent, skated through high school and college with no intention of taking advantage of great educational opportunities.

7 weeks/63 days until the opener
LabattBlue replied to TheKickIsGood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. Summer is too short in WNY to begin with. -
I can't wait for someone to make a reference to an asterisk or cheatriots. <YAWN>.

I flipped on Rich Gaenzler yesterday on 1270(or whatever station he is on from 12-3), and he had on a guest who covers ND football talking about the Everett Gholston mess, and what to expect from ND in 2013. I am far from a ND fan, but how refreshing it was from this... Mon - Sully/Hamilton/Bills Tue - Hamilton/Sabres Wed - Sully/Bills Thu - Hamilton/Sabres Fri - Sabres/Bills/Sabres/Bills Following week - rinse/repeat If WGR hosts/producers put a little effort into booking guests, and being just a little knowledgeable about other sports, it would make a world of difference. One other thing...stop taking calls for the most part. The people who call in are mainly idiots who just want to hear themselves talk.

Cruise - Who has been on one and recommendations.
LabattBlue replied to BringBackFergy's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've never been on a cruise, but have been thinking about finally taking one. Not to sound anti-social, but do they still make you sit with a group for meals? Sorry but I have no interest in paying $$$ to dine with strangers. -
The Bills cuts this year will be coveted
LabattBlue replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills plan on cutting Stevie, Woods, Gilmore, Dareus, K. WIlliams, and Byrd, then yes, other teams will be very interested in our cuts. If these are not the players you are referring to then...  . -
I'll take the under on 6-1/2, and won't look back.

I wonder if they will hire a new Assistant GM?
-
...but but but, they weren't talking about the Bills when the OP was listening, therefore, they must NEVER talk about the Bills.

Poll: Are we total suckers again?
LabattBlue replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given the lack of a 3rd choice(as others have mentioned), I went with "We're suckers!"
