  1. By a play like the one we are discussing where you "play not to lose", YOU LOSE.
  2. ...and what is Plan B if they commit to Manuel, and through the 1st quarter of the season, he ***** the bed? Just waste another year of a great defense? Coax Orton out of retirement again? Put Tuel in?
  3. Then Peppers is an idiot and he deserves to miss out on maybe his last chance to go to a SB. Do you ever remember a play like that with 5 minutes to go in a 12 point game?
  4. Point 1...If you lose the coin flip and want to win the game, stop the team that does win the coin flip. Point 2...Well since I don't own a TV network, it would be a great idea. There are always opportunities to jam commercials into a 3-1/2 hour broadcast other than after a kickoff. How do you think they handle it in a game that is 3-0 instead of 42-35?
  5. I said this earlier in this thread, I think Burnett going down instead of advancing the ball(could have easily gained a minimum of 20 yards) was as big of a bonehead move as the 2 point conversion, the blown coverage on the fake FG, and the botched onsides kick recovery attempt. That was the kind of play you make when you intercept a ball with a minute to go in the game...NOT 5 minutes to go.
  6. Go back to the old rule in the playoffs. First team that scores, wins. Rule change desperately needed....get rid of kickoffs. It has become the most boring play in football. After a score, the other team gets the ball at the 20...go.
  7. Don't underestimate the political clowns at the city, county and state level to either !@#$ this up, or at the very least bring it to a crawl until they get their chance to be in front of the cameras
  8. Absolutely not. He will be overpaid. Spend the money to upgrade the two guards and it won't matter who is running the ball. See Denver when no matter who they plugged in at RB for several years, they were great. Terrell Davis, Olandis Gary and a couple others.
  9. First thing I thought of when reading the post you quoted.
  10. You know for a fact that this is how it will work, instead of how you think it will work? i.e. The high profile coach complains to the owner about the 53 man roster, and the owner will side with the GM instead of the aformentioned high profile coach? I don't know either, but that potential problem doesn't occur if the coach reports to the GM, and the owners aren't of the meddling variety.
  11. I'm not just talking about the hiring of a coach. It is the job of heading up the entire football operation side of the business going forward. So in a span of a month the Pegula's got to know everything needed to head up the football operation side of the business? okie dokie.
  12. I'd still like to know what happened to a "football" team president/czar/consultant that Whaley, Ryan, and any other football related staff would report to? The Pegula's clearly wanted one as they reached out to Polian. Then once he turned them down, the position was no longer needed? So now, all football related staff report to the Pegula's who have no football background? Spin the new reporting structure as a positive, but I'd feel much better if they had filled the position that they were after Polian for.
  13. I think the cobblestone site is best in that you will have a contiguous cluster/core of attractions(FNC, RWS, Canalside including Children's Museum and whatever else is planned for the old Aud site, HarborCenter, Courtyard by Marriott, Naval Park, Casino), which you can then build out from there as needed. I think this is a much better option than the Exchange or South Park options which puts RWS a greater distance from previous mentioned "core".
  14. GB made numerous mistakes in the 4th qtr, but why the heck after Burnett intercepted the ball with 5 minutes to go, did he go down on his own. If he takes off, he gains at least twenty yards, and GB has a 1ST down somewhere around the 30-35, maybe even deeper in Seahawk territory. Score was still 19-7 at that point.
  15. Thx!! I know the upgrade(s) and subsequent fixes take a lot of your time!
  16. Sorry if this was already mentioned...Am i imagining things or did the font used to display member name in their posts be in a bold or a larger font?
  17. No. In my scenario, the GM is in charge of the coach, and he either agrees or disagrees with the coach. He's the boss, his call. At least it would be an informed decision instead of Kim & Terry Pegula scratching their hands and flipping a coin. We'll agree to disagree.
  18. So the owner who knows next to nothing about building an NFL team is going to settle a dispute between coach and GM? Sounds like a solid plan to me.
  19. At least one other person agrees with me.
  20. What do the Bills have if EJ becomes a "poor man's" Cam Newton?
  21. I guess only time will tell, but wouldn't you rather have one football man, reporting to another football man? Please, someone explain to me how the new coach reporting to Pegula who has ZERO NFL experience is a better idea than reporting to the GM?
  22. Interesting, but a lot of what is reported across many of the teams is very gray area. If Whaley controls roster and personnel decisions, what else was Marrone responsible for that would made more sense having him report to Brandon instead of Whaley. Like I stated earlier, you are begging for a relationship problem between the coach and GM in a reporting structure like this, and low and behold, that is exactly what happened between Whaley and Marrone(even though the details of the problems between the two have not been reported). Sorry, I just don't get it.
  23. Please site some examples. Also, I wanted to know if you thought it was a good idea?
  24. ...and how did that end up(coach/gm relationship)? You really don't think the coach reporting to the owner is a good idea, do you?
