Is this the new "normal" for Dareus
LabattBlue replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watching Geno Atkins dominate the interior line for the Bengals, I can only imagine what Dareus would be like IF he was motivated to play hard every snap, AND if he played around 295-300 pounds, instead of his listed weight of 330...which means he is probably closer to 350. -
Here's your chance to check out now.

I know it is just a one game sample, but it seems like Poyer and Hyde are going to be a decent tandem. Hopefully they can keep up the good play. Not sure if Whaley gets the credit for signing them, but if so, it was a nice gift to the Bills as he was about to get the boot.

Barnidge may finally sign with a team
LabattBlue replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Barnidge finds a team in desparate need of a TE, gets to skip training camp, and still get a good contract? Seems like a win for him. -
So you are okay with the teams highest paid player, being on the field for less than half the snaps, and when he was on the field, didn't make any impact plays? I'll move on. I now see that it doesn't matter which players on a team make the big $$$. I need to ignore all salaries, and look at Dareus like he is making league minimum...and then he does look like a pretty good player.
-
Why do I care how much any one player is being paid? Well...just a hunch on my part, but there is this thing called the salary cap, and when you give a big chunk of those cap dollars to an under-performing/under-utilized player, that more or less is going to hurt the team in terms of being able to sign someone else who might be more productive.
-
You don't pay a DT a $100 million to be JAG who plugs up the middle of the line. He was paid that money to be an IMPACT player. If he cannot be that player, or they don't want to put him on the field enough to be that player, then his future as a Bill is probably done by the end of the 2018 season....when his dead cap hit drops significantly.

Sending good vibes to John Dorenbos
LabattBlue replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't remember the story of his mom and dad being reported during his time with the Bills. Awful tragedy... http://web.kitsapsun.com/archive/2004/11-28/19608_a_dozen_years_later__woodinville.html -
Dareus sent home for violating a team rule
LabattBlue replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is a certain amount of knucklehead-itis that every HC has to deal with, and obviously "star" players are given more leeway, but Dareus has crossed the line on multiple occasions, and just doesn't care. I guess 10's of millions of dollars will do that do some players. Other players deal with the riches without ANY off the field issues. -
Dareus sent home for violating a team rule
LabattBlue replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's had a such a hard time in his life...as if no other young NFL player has had to deal with adversity. [/sarcasm off] I said it when he signed the massive new contract and I still say it...they will regret it. -
New Digital Media Outlets for Buffalo Sports
LabattBlue replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In this era when newspapers all over the country are struggling or going under, you really believe this crew is going to start a competing newspaper in Buffalo? -
Anyone catch Stephanie Abrams on TWC fake crying moments after the totality in Oregon? It was LOL funny. She is such a phony.

Next time consider ducking.

Beane kept news of Sammy Watkins deal from Sean McDermott.
LabattBlue replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If true, I am glad that for the most part Beane is making the calls on building the 53 man roster. McD needs to prove himself as a HC, and not be the main man when it comes to trades, waivers, keeping up on ~1500 NFL players, etc... I don't remember who reported it(might have been Sal), but I chuckled when he said, "before the trade was made, Beane, McD, Kim, Terry & Russ all got together to discuss the move". -
No matter how good Zay Jones become I wont get attached

How did you hear about the master plan at OBD? Just another leak yet to be plugged! -
McDermott and Beane - aligned?
LabattBlue replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not saying McD and Beane aren't on the same page, but this notion at the time they were hired, that they are perfect fits as GM & HC because of their relationship in Carolina was never a correct assumption...starting with the fact that the Asst GM and a DC don't exactly have a line between them on the org chart. Here's hoping it works out, as this is getting tiring. -
Bills' 2017 Training Camp Discussion - Final Day
LabattBlue replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frazier yelling at Hughes "It's all about you" within earshot of reporters is pretty surprising. That the target of his anger is Hughes...not so surprising. I don't know if it is 17 years of missing the playoffs, the fact that I have been following this team since ~1967, or idiots like Hughes, but my attachment to the team continues to drop as the years go by. -
McD and Beane/ Do you trust them?
LabattBlue replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like how in one day the dynamic duo of McD & Beane have gone from a breath of fresh air...to...guys don't know what they are doing, trying to look smarter than they really are, clueless, trying to build a team of character players doesn't work, etc... The status quo of 7-9, 8-8, & 9-7 is done. Go get your QB in the next draft, and then build around him. -

Dareus tweaked hamstring, could miss camp time
LabattBlue replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Big year for him? Sinking ship of a career? He has a $100 million dollar contract, with a lot of it guaranteed. He just may end up being one of many players who get complacent after signing for $$$. -

Jim Carrey. I never have seen his standup mainly because I can't stand him in the movies. Face you want to punch...over and over and over again.
