  1. This is absolutely true. He has exhibited genuine leadership skills, firing up the troops on the sidelines, and he has clearly shown that he is fearless on the field and will risk bodily injury to make a play. On top of that, he did make several big, exciting plays against the Vikings...with his legs. Because of all that, most folks here decided he is a budding superstar. In fact, I think we have a thread with that more or less as the title. It's all a smokescreen for his actual play as a quarterback throwing the football, which has been pretty bad. Today in Green Bay it wasn't pretty bad, it was dreadful.
  2. I guess that would have been better than doing it at halftime. And a grammatical error.
  3. Unfortunately I think you are right. If he did have trade value, I would strongly support trading him.
  4. It's still too early to really get worked up about this, because the season is still early and we could end up winning a bunch of games. But if we genuinely finish this season in the bottom 3 or maybe even dead last, this is going to be a huge issue. Only way not to take a top QB prospect in that situation is if you already have a proven franchise guy, and we certainly do not.
  5. Yes it was and it's what he's been doing the entire time, save for a few big plays made with his legs. Not sure why this is surprising. He is going to get every break imaginable, plus a few more, from this fan base until their patience runs out and people start to realize he isn't the answer. We are a long way from that point now, however.
  6. Our coach not only played for a TIE last year, he did it in a game when a TIE would have eliminated us from playoff contention. So I'll take Reich, thanks.
  7. You are in the minority of fans willing to state the obvious--that Josh Allen is in over his head. It is ridiculous, as some have done, to suggest his performance can't be evaluated because the team is bad around him. The team is bad around him, but pass protection is not bad on every play, not all receivers are covered on every play, etc. There's plenty to evaluate. What is concerning is that the things he is struggling with now are things he has always struggled with and define his game. His horrid pocket presence is one of those. His inability to read a defense pre-snap is another. His accuracy problem is a third.
  8. I've been consistent in my criticism of Allen throughout. PS: DC Tom says you're an idiot.
  9. Wait a minute! I've been reading today about how Josh Allen needs some talented WRs so he has a chance to succeed. Does the QB make the WR or vice versa? If if the QB makes the WR, why do we need a bunch of new WRs?
  10. News flash: all teams in the league have money. You need more than that if you are trying to lure talented free agents to your team.
  11. Well in theory they are trying to get it all put together so that we are a winning team that players will want to play for. This year is a lot of calculated frustration.
  12. Rodgers straight up missed several passes and should have had a few more picks than he did, as well. Not his best game, but he's dinged up.
  13. Ken Stabler, Bart Starr, and Joe Namath are all Alabama quarterbacks. Granted, none of those guys has played in close to fifty years, but....
  14. This is not a really solid GB team, they are banged up, and they did not play particularly well today. If they were firing on all cylinders today, the score would have been pretty ugly.
  15. That was a good hit! Glad they picked up the flag.
  16. Cleveland just went through OT what, 2 weeks ago? Now they're back at it again. Should be fun to watch.
  17. It was incidental contact, and the correct non-call. Watch Clinton-Dix on the replay. He was looking back at the QB and the ball when he caught it; Benjamin was off to his side and I'm sure the "hit" surprised C.D. as much as it surprised Benjamin. Basically both players moved into the same space at the same time in an effort to catch the football, while neither player was concerned about what the other was doing or where they were. That was the correct non-call and I think most officials would see it that way. As an aside, I think officiating in the NFL is the worst in all of N.American major league sports, and this game today in particular was very poorly called. But I don't have an issue with the play you draw attention to.
  18. And it's actually only going to get worse once he clocks more and more game time. Opposing DCs will have more and more film to use as fuel for shutting him down. In many ways Allen reminds me of Colin Kaepernick. A big, really talented guy who can run well, but with limited ability to play QB. It got to the point where the league got the blueprint on how to shut down Kaepernick and that's what they did. Kaep didn't have the talent to overcome that. Allen is at risk of going a similar path IMO...though I concede that has yet to happen and maybe it will not. This is true, but you know what is really scary? McDermott and company didn't recognize that fact themselves. Instead, they chose to start Peterman, on the premise that he gave the team the best chance to succeed. That's some hard core error in judgment right there.
  19. Define "now" in the context of this thread. Does that mean the next 5 minutes? This week? This month? This year? I think "now" should mean "this season". What actions can be taken maybe immediately but maybe later this season. That's still pretty near term in the grand scheme of things.
