  1. I would suggest winning a close football game tells us exactly nothing about the head coach's temperament, or any other amorphous concept that only sports fans discuss but does not exist in reality. McDermott is incredibly conservative and a horrible in-game manager or tactician. He routinely makes the wrong call in terms of when to punt or not, when to go for 2 or not, when to challenge or not. His challenges are straight up horrible and should not be handled by the HC in any event. Is he a good motivator? I don't know, I'm not on the inside, but he does seem to do well at that. Does he earn the respect of his coaching staff? Seems like it. There are many things that go into being a HC in the NFL. It's about 8 jobs in one. My complaints with McD are his in-game field generalship, which is terrible, and his overall conservative disposition. He's a traditionally thinking "football guy" and not the future of the sport. I hate that.
  2. If your'e talking about our last win, look no further than the +3 turnover ratio we had most of the game. It dwindled to +2, but that's still great. There is no greater indicator of wins than turnover ratio. You win that, you win a lot of games.
  3. This is all a bunch of garbage. We could have had him without giving up extra picks. Instead the brain trust at OBD gave away the farm for Sammy Watkins. How I wish we had taken O.B.J.
  4. Bingo! This franchise has been among the worst in N. American major league sports since the merger. With really the only magical time being the Super Bowl teams and the time during their rise to power. I would end the era with our 4th Superbowl, though the success did linger a bit longer than that. The rest has been very missable, including our AFC East title in 1980 (remember it well; had a t-shirt commemorating that at the time) and so on. I feel sorry for young Bills fans who have suffered through the crap, but never got to taste the champagne. Well, almost got to taste the champagne.
  5. You seem to be a realist with Josh Allen. Good for you. I'd love for the most exciting highlight play involving Josh Allen to be something he does throwing the ball. Don't think we have one of those yet for the season, though we have many involving his legs, as you note.
  6. 31 page long thread. Has anyone been fired regarding the Mahomes mishap yet?
  7. Why in the world would you be livid about the Bills getting compensation for Shady? He won't be back here next year anyway. Why not get what he can for him now, in what is a totally lost year?
  8. Against Tom Brady and the Patriots, no less! He took down Brady and Belichick in the biggest game, TWICE! From a Buffalo Bills fan perspective, Eli Manning is Jesus Christ walking on water.
  9. Where are the "We need better support players and WRs for Allen!" on this one? On just about every passing play I have seen broken down to this level (with a good overhead view of the whole field) there are 1 or 2 receivers open, but Allen doesn't see them or throw to them. We can have the best WRs in the league but they aren't going to be any better at catching passes never thrown to them. This stuff is what has dogged Allen throughout his collegiate career and why people use terms like "Raw" to describe him. That's just one way of saying "he doesn't get it." Will he? And within the amount of time the team will give him? He probably has what? 20 games to show he can do it? The clock is ticking.
  10. Sabres played like crap against Colorado tonight. Eichel said, post game, "It felt like we probably weren't ready to play" or words to that effect. It is game 4 after all; I can see where their attention span would be strained. If Housley can't get them ready to play every game, can his soft ass and find someone who can.
  11. Don't forget enjoying a +3 turnover ratio for most of the game as well. I know that lowered to +2 before it was over, but that's why we won the game.
  12. Record it, wait an hour, watch stoppage free, BS free, comment free, commercial free, and intermission free! It's the only way to watch non-Bills NFL football! The games are way too slow and disjointed to watch in real time.
  13. She's hot, but a tad on the "thick" side and little too "heavy duty" in her frame. She has to be built that way to be a downhill skier...those athletes have tremendous lower body strength and power. I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating cookies, however.
  14. Me doa tua. She is totally my type--Mediterranean basin looking. She could be Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Lebanese.... Or Albanian, apparently.
  15. I have watched all big fights on HBO for years; I'll be tuning in. Boxing offers, by far, the most interesting drama of any sport on the planet. Yet it suffers a poor image for the reasons we all know. Anyway, I'll be hoping for a great fight as always. I'm still recovering from the excellent Canelo/Triple G rematch!
  16. This has been brewing for a long time and it will be interesting to see how it plays out, if and when Khan pushes the issue to the breaking point. The big factor that immediately hits me is jet lag for the teams traveling to England for a game, probably losing a day or 2 of preparation for the game, etc. However, the owners will be focused on their pocket books and not the health of players, be sure of that. If it is cost effective or hugely profitable to make the NFL a multi-continental sporting league, that will be the future of the NFL. What will stop it is a lack of interest in the sport from Europeans and lack of profit. And only that.
  17. That's coming. You don't have to believe me now. Just wait a while.
  18. I finally had a chance to see the finale. Great episode. Love the redemption theme that has been explored throughout the season and really focused on in this last episode. Once we acquire a label in life, are we ever able to truly be judged fairly again, or will that label always define who we are? Jimmy explains it in detail to the scholarship applicant who shoplifted. She is seeking redemption but he tells her she'll never get it from the legal establishment. Jimmy was seeking redemption from the Bar Association but he did get it. Werner asked for redemption from Mike and/or Gus, and he certainly didn't get it. We have now seen 3 separate scenes where Kim is disturbed by Jimmy's reaction to his brother's death. First it was when Jimmy went into the kitchen and was asking about food at the end of the episode with Howard crying and Kim wondering why Jimmy wasn't more upset about his brother's death. Then the letter reading scene, also in the kitchen. Jimmy reads the letter quickly and without emotion, and Kim doesn't like it. Now in the last episode we see that Saul's statement before the committee was BS and staged. Kim is shocked that he wasn't sincere in his statements. He makes fun of one guy "who was actually crying" and of course, we saw that Kim was in fact crying herself. Kim is a high quality individual and I think she sees that it is not going to work out with Jimmy. She is going to dump him. I've been saying it all season and I think it's coming. Jimmy/Saul is easily my least favorite character in the entire show. He is not likable and leads a rather empty existence, ultimately. I agree that the scene with him crying in the car in the parking garage was him briefly coming to grips with reality and grieving his brother's death. Jimmy spends most of his time in denial; the crying in the car scene was a rare respite from that. Jimmy wants to change his name as a "F. YOU" statement to his brother, the family name, and the legal establishment. It's like his advice to the girl who shoplifted. He told her they will never forgive her but it's OK b/c she can play the game by her own rules and finish ahead of them. Jimmy changing his name is him playing by his own rules. He'll never be a named partner at a large corporate law firm like his brother. He'll never be a part of the legal establishment in that way. But he can go it his own way, and he does not want to be associated with his brother in any way. Regarding the timing of the show and how many seasons are left: I think that is a function of the show creators and how long they want to keep going with it. They can squeeze new life out of it almost forever. Don't forget, they can buy a lot of time by changing the time resolution of the show. 1 episode can represent the passage of 8 months, or 3 episodes can represent only 3 consecutive days. It's often not clear how much time has elapsed between episodes in a series in any event. I hope they keep going forever!
  19. Yeah, but that's a world not worth ruling. Not a fan of that "Southern Fried Rock" genre. Any 38 Special fans here?
  20. He gets away with b/c he's a great runner, and doesn't cough up the ball very much. If he fumbled a lot with that technique, he would either have changed how he does things years or ago or been driven out of the league. But he somehow avoids fumbling while doing it, so he continues to do it. It's still crazy and drives me nuts!
  21. I think the John Clayton conversation was merged somewhere in this mess of a thread. John Clayton was on today with Schopp and Bulldog doing his weekly spot. He called for playing Anderson not immediately, but once he has had time to absorb the play book. Maybe in a couple of weeks or something like that. It was brought up that Allen is near the bottom of the league in all passer ratings. Clayton thinks he develops better from a watching position, not a playing position right now. Clayton is suggesting that we will "break" Allen if he continues to start as he is just not ready right now.
