  1. Not a lot left reading this thread. I'm listening on the radio and watching S.Carolina vs. Vanderbilt.
  2. 24-0. Mark Kelso: "If you're wondering, it's still the 3rd quarter. It seems like this 3rd quarter has drawn on quite a bit."
  3. Interesting comment from Mark Kelso just now regarding some Bills history. He said Gale Gilbert had, at that time, unquestionably the strongest arm in the NFL. He could go down on one knee at the 50 yard line and throw a BB to the end zone. Kelso said he's never seen anyone who can do that.
  4. I agree with most of your picks, not necessarily the scores. I have us 1-2 wins less than you.
  5. When the bottom of your stomach forms a horizontal overhang so immense it devours your belt buckle like a black hole, and presents a legitimate challenge for some of the world's best rock climbers, isn't it time to look into a diet?
  6. The 25 yard line rule was strike 1 against Gay. But then when it became apparent in the preseason games that Gay was seemingly incapable of going straight during FG attempts, his fate was sealed.
  7. Beat me to it. If he is not a blue chipper, it's time to cash in the chips and go home. Also, our punter and kicker (when healthy and playing normally) are among the best in the game. Maybe not what you'd call "impact players" but solid contributors nonetheless to team victories. ESPN jumped the shark a long time ago. I wouldn't even think to put the channel on, and don't, unless they have a live sporting event on that I want to see. All the rest of it is not even on my radar.
  8. He wasn't comparing the football injury to a death. His point was that when life dishes out some bad luck or heartache, life goes on and things will get better. He's trying to say the Viking's season isn't in the dumpster just b/c of this incident and they will fight on. What would you prefer him to say? "Cancel the home games, refund the tickets, we're folding our tent!" Apparently the injury was rather gruesome with the knee "flopping around" or some such and some players vomiting. Who knows, Teddy may never walk right again or play in the NFL. Feel free to joke about the incident!
  9. Zimmer: "You know what? My wife died 7 years ago. That was a tough day. The sun came up the next day and people went back to work. That's what we're going to do."
  10. PC is over. Didn't say too much conclusively. We'll need to hear back from the hospital probably tomorrow or whenever.
  11. Any hope he plays this season? "I don't know; doesn't look good right now." They sedated him; he's getting an MRI right this second
  12. Significant knee injury; testing at hospital going on; don't know extent of it yet Mike Zimmer doesn't know how long he'll be out; could be season ending
  13. The PC will be streamed live at 5:00pm Eastern on KFAN. http://www.iheart.com/live/kfan-sports-radio-fm-1003-1209/
  14. I'm thinking there was a fear of a neuro/vascular type of injury resulting from a catastrophic break or dislocation. That's likely the only reason an ambulance would have showed up and rushed him away like that. It was probably a Joe Theismann type break. Zoiks!
  15. I think Baltimore will be better than last year, but they are still in a lull right now. I think we can and will win that game. Won't be easy though!
  16. Week 2 will be primetime night game at home and Bruce Smith's number will be retired. If "positive mojo" and the sheer willpower of fans can force a win, it will be impossible to lose on that night. Of course, it doesn't work that way. I still think we will be looking good after those first 4 games.
  17. That's not necessarily true, but nothing I type here is going to change your mind.
  18. The whole national anthem/flag/military honor guard/military jet flyover thing that is now associated with sports in this country is flat out bizarre and really has nothing to do with watching sports. Some of it is flat out paid for by the military as a marketing ploy. Get rid of all of it.
  19. We'll see. He's terrible and was regarded as a horrible reach by the Bills throughout the league. But it's 1:25am on a Friday night and for God's sake I don't want to discuss EJ Manuel anymore! HOW DID I GET HERE? You know, technically speaking, the EJ Manual refers to, I believe, the Emergency Jettison Manual giving guidelines and parameters for handling an emergency fuel jettison while flying an aircraft. The EJ Manuel is an entirely different thing altogether.
  20. Doesn't everyone remember him from the ESPN Sunday night days when Monday Night Football on ABC was still the big game of the week? He was terrible then too. His dad was Austrian. His name should be pronounced to rhyme with Heisman. The "H" should be silent. Should be "TIES-MANN" sort of.
  21. EJ is terrible! Has he shown signs of marginal improvement here and there? Yes. Does he occasionally do something really nice? Yes. He always did. Consistency is the mark of the professional, and EJ has none. He will likely wash out of the league when we are done with him. Nice guy; I wish him the best.
