  1. Interesting point about Taylor. Just last night, Chad Kelly threw a really nice TD pass in complete anticipation of the WR getting open in the end zone. When the ball left Chad's hand, the WR was engaged with the defender around the goal line. Chad let her rip and threw a strike based on faith, basically, that his man would get open. The moment he did, the ball hit him. Taylor definitely needs to work on that aspect of his game.
  2. Kelly looked like his uncle in vintage K gun form there. Moving right down the field for the score.
  3. On aggregate, overall team talent is less than last year, at least on paper. How can the Bills overcome that and actually be better? If Tyrod improves substantially, everything else doesn't matter. Another way: greatly reduce penalties with disciplined play on a consistent basis. Another way: execution on a play-by-play basis. Quality execution and disciplined low penalty play alone are probably good for 1 to 2 wins over the course of an entire season.
  4. "Can" being the operative word. There is a difference between possible, and probable.
  5. I can't wait for this one to start! Season is starting at least a week on the calendar too late if you ask me.
  6. The 1992 Bills team that went to its 3rd straight Superbowl, won the "comeback game" against Houston, and was filled with HOF talent, was 11-5.
  7. I'm right with you, but I'd reduce the +/- to 1. 7-9 to 9-7 seems the likely range this year, with 8-8 being most likely. I agree that a big leap forward in performance from Tyrod could be the magic wildcard for us this year, but small incremental gains are probably more likely.
  8. Continuity only works when you have quality people in the first place. Then you keep them together as long as possible and build a strong team. But if you are starting out with the wrong people, keeping them together forever is not going to help all on its own. The question is whether or not Rex and his staff are worth keeping. They will have this season to prove they deserve to hang around or not, for sure. Maybe one more too, depending on how things go.
  9. Looks like an HBO Hard Knocks sort of show, Bills style. Would love to see this. Hopefully it will be available online after it initially airs.
  10. This is kind of my take too. Hard to predict, but if we are going to have a happy season, it will be because we win games like this one.
  11. Roster is arguably worse than last year on paper. Imminently needed and drafted-for starting defensive help won't come this year. Depth at most positions still questionable, and injuries will happen. No QB depth to speak of. On the plus side: Tyrod should be better, I think the D will be more in synch, and yes, everyone has had more time to get used to how Rex wants to do things. I think our realistic record range is 7-9 to 9-7, with 8-8 most likely. So Sully is a bit low. But he's on the cusp of reasonable likelihood. No need to crucify him regarding this particular topic.
  12. What is crazier are the players who beat those almost impossible odds and then throw it all away through stupidity. Karlos Williams is a recent example of that player.
  13. Disagree. It can be estimated much better than it currently is. But look at the people who run the NFL. Not really a brain trust, is it?
  14. I'm still amazed some football guru can't figure out what skill set is required to be a good NFL QB and then devise a test or metric for college QBs. Tom Brady obviously had the x factor in spades to be a great NFL QB, but no one saw it at the collegiate level. Why not? Is anyone working on this? They should be. Most NFL scouts are still obsessed with physical attributes, height, hand size... No great QB in this league has ever been great b/c of those things. It's mostly esoteric and mental.
  15. There are always a few good ones who get left out of the mix for various reasons not necessarily involving the player being bad. Sometimes it's a numbers game. I think Whaley and his staff might have a knack for finding one of those guys. Not sure who that would be though.
  16. Thanks for the responses. It looks like CBS will be single game channel, and I live in Miami TV viewing area... So I'll get their game at 4:00pm and no Bills at 1:00pm.
  17. LOL! It's not just garbage, it's not even hot garbage. It's fly-riddled hot garbage. That's pretty bad.
  18. Assuming CBS gets a 1:00pm game on opening Sunday, September 11th.... Will the Bills be the featured game most of the nation sees? The contenders: Cleveland at Philly Bengals at Jets Chargers at Chiefs Bills at Ravens I fear the game would be S.D. at K.C., but I'm holding out hope I can see the season opener. Curious what others think.
