  1. AMEN TO THIS! Honestly, I won't give the Bills too much grief about the trade up. We had to come home with a QB and it's possible Allen/Rosen would not be available at 12. They had to make sure we got one of them and the move up did that. Staying at 12 and not having any of the big name guys available is a contingency that would not have been acceptable, so as I say, I understand why the urgency to move up a bit and do the trade with Tampa.
  2. LOL. I kind of know what you mean. He has a baby face. Not much eyebrows. Soft cheek/jaw bone lines.
  3. That's idiotic. Some may feel that way. I hate the pick and firmly believe Allen will never be good. Doesn't mean I have "given up on him." Hell, he hasn't even shown up in Buffalo yet. I also have no great faith in AJ! If Allen looks better in camp, let him start for Christ's sake and then let's all pray that he is better than I think he will be.
  4. It's hard to really say now, it's so early. One thing is for sure though: if AJ really struggles and does not look good for the first 4 or 6 games, folks will DEFINITELY be shouting for Allen to start. That's guaranteed. If AJ is competent or even better, it's a much more complicated scenario. It would also be more complicated if the coaching staff came out and declared Allen "no way close to being ready" or something like that. Or will they hold out the potential option for Allen to play? What if Allen outshines AJ in training camp!? There's a lot that can happen between now and week 6 of the season and it's almost impossible to really know how things will look.
  5. Allen is the classic old school pick based on physical traits and potential. These football idiots just can't help themselves when they run into a guy this tall, big, strong, and with such a strong arm. A more intelligent statistical analysis would steer you clear of Allen. I agree with your comments on the weather/cold and how irrelevant all that is. The NFL is like 30 years behind the curve on....everything.
  6. Do these people forget that Jim Kelly pissed on Buffalo before he ended up on the team? I don't care who's a DB or not. I care about having a good QB!
  7. A QB who can read a defense at the line and accurately throw a 7 yard completion in tight coverage is actually a far more useful player in the NFL. Even if the odd 60 yard bomb is a lot of fun to see, when you see it.... like 3 times in a season.
  8. To the OP; how in hell do you know Beane got what he wanted? How do we know this wasn't Plan B, or even C? There were a number of unexpected picks in the first 10.
  9. I wish others would read this as I've read about 10,000 posts declaring the "pros" at the Bills know what they are doing and mere fans on this board are clueless. Also, what you say is why you don't trade up. It's a crap shoot; quantity of picks always trumps your perceived quality, b/c you have no idea what you're getting. I totally supported moving up this year however, but for one of Mayfield/Rosen/Darnold. And only those 3.
  10. Just noticed Troy Aikman has been sporting a lovely Rolex Daytona all night tonight.
  11. No, that was Andy Dalton. Actually, any FO in the NFL knows very little more than the conventional wisdom regarding the draft pecking order. I will agree Beane knows a LOT more about what GMs were asking for in terms of trades and draft movement and we don't know anything on that, other than what may be reported, if you can believe it.
  12. Don't know what was going through his mind, but it probably had something to do with Jesus.
  13. Get over it. He's a really bad draft pick and most pundits in this country have said that for a long time. It's gonna remain like this around here until if and when he can start to prove his detractors wrong.
  14. I'm surprised to see Shazier walk under his own power, insofar as he can. That's a lot better than life in a wheelchair.
  15. Right. Everyone here who said EJ was waste of time didn't know what they were talking about. Then the same with Tyrod. Now we'll be hearing it until Allen is chased out of town too. Dude doesn't have transferable skills to the NFL game.
  16. I would LOVE for us (now) to take Jackson or one of the other QBs now that I know we have Allen. He ain't gonna pan out, might as well start working on another one now!
  17. These idiots seem to overlook the fact that the only success this franchise has ever really had since the merger was defined by playoff wins in Buffalo in January with an innovative, attacking, passing offense.
  18. This is about right. I'm not a fan of trading up in general. Picking Allen over Rosen will go down as a really bad idea. Like Edmunds but not as a trade up.
  19. Sitting around and announcing our support won't do anything either. Either this kid will develop into a good QB or he won't. I say he won't. Time will tell. In the meantime, let's hope AJ isn't a total disaster.
  20. Have a look at history. The people who do this for a living are not much better at selecting draft talent than anyone else.
  21. I hate it. But also hope it works out for us.
