  1. Life must've been really hard for him.
  2. But the 2008 first round was fantastic: 1. Jake Long 2. Chris Long 3. Matt Ryan 4. Darren McFadden 10. Jarod Mayo 11. Leodis McKelvin 12. Ryan Clady 13. Jonathan Stewart 15. Branden Albert 18. Joe Flacco 20. Aqib Talib 21. Sam Baker 24. Chris Johnson (Tennessee RB) 26. Duane Brown (possibly the best OL in today's game) Guys taken that year that have had VERY good years but not so much now: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Jeff Otah, Felix Jones, Rashard Mendenhall).
  3. 1. It's the way it goes. 2. The Pats decided to outright cut him and take all the financial burden that comes with releasing a player who has chunky guarantees remaining on his deal. They were praised HIGHLY for this by many. But now they're refusing that financial burden. Therefore, all that praise was for nothing. They did this move as a PR stunt and never intended to take on the financial burden. To me, the NFL should require them to pay the guarantees left in Hernandez' deal to a charity or even to the family of Odin Lloyd. Teams can't be constantly let off the hook for failing to do something about these guys playing on their teams. Which is why the Yanks shouldn't get out of A-Rod's deal. They KNEW about his history with PEDs and now they're going to have to PAY for it.
  4. Actually, no. It generally comes down to opportunity. Which roster might have injuries and/or opportunities for a practice squad guy? That's the biggest part unless there is a HUGE difference in pay (which generally isn't the case).
  5. He won't get cut.
  6. The mistake everybody is making while judging Da'Rick is calling him a "project" with only potential on his side. That's not true. He's got an NFL body already and was considered to be one of the more NFL-ready coming in. The issue with him is attitude. It looks bad out there on the field if he's dogging it a lot. That's the real issue with him. I'm mad that he got cut because I think that kind of value is dumb to pass up, but it's not the end of the world I guess.
  7. Let's consider this for a moment. Available free agent corners: Sean Smith (would've been a great pickup, but he got $6 mill per while Leodis got just ovver $4 mill); Aqib Talib (trouble maker who had to run back to his old team on a one-year deal); Brent Grimes (an Achilles tear for a player who is only good because he can jump REALLY high?); Derek Cox (would've been a good pickup). That's "deep?" Meh.
  8. I have said all along that this team will be much better than last year, but maybe not win more games. I think they'll with 5-7 with an upside of 7 to 9 wins if a few things go very well.
  9. Cribbs has serious lingering injuries and hasn't returned a kick in four years. Kind of useless at this point.
  10. We can't even figure out which wide receivers to get rid of and have three at the position right now that appear to be very good at returning kicks. But yea, let's bring in ANOTHER.
  11. Updated with a list of rookie records.
  12. Yea, that was actually kind of my first sad moment with him. I was like "he needs XXX points... nevermind." For the record, Lindell only needed 32 points to pass Steve Christie and become the team's all-time leading scorer. That's the equivalent of, say, eight field goals and eight extra points.
  13. There might be. And that's why there are 100 other threads going on at once.
  14. I think it's more that there haven't been many great players that have stayed for extended periods.
  15. I'll update ones that are complete throughout the season if this stays on the front page.
  16. Should I add to this or does nobody care?
  17. Just decided to take a look at the Bills record books and see who might be creeping up on some milestones: BUFFALO BILLS MILESTONES Fred Jackson - Needs just 215 yards to pass Joe Cribbs for 3rd on the Bills all-time rushing list. Five rushing touchdowns would put him in the top 10 in that category all-time for the Bills. CJ Spiller - 755 rushing yards needed to crack the top ten (passing Jim Braxton). Eight rushing TDs puts him in the top 15 all-time. Stevie Johnson - Needs 341 receiving yards to pass Josh Reed for 10th all-time. He's 1,404 away from the top five. Nine receiving touchdowns puts him in the top five in that category. 30 receptions puts him in the top ten, 63 jumps him into the top five (also passing Josh Reed). Leodis McKelvin - Currently tied for the most punts returned for a TD so one makes him alone on top. Three pass deflections to move into a tie for fourth with... Aaron Schobel in that category (surprisingly Terrence McGee is first with 99... 12 ahead of the second place finisher Nate Clements... new stat obviously). Kyle Williams - Needs 3.5 sacks to jump into the top ten. Jairus Byrd - Needs five interceptions to move into the top ten. Three fumbles forced to move into the top five. EJ Manuel - Would need 286 completions, 3594 yards and 23 TDs to eclipse Jim Kelly's Buffalo rookie records. PERSONAL CAREER MILESTONES Mario Williams - Needs 6.5 sacks to become the 75th player with 70 career sacks (there are multiple players ahead of him that will likely eclipse the milestone before him, making him somewhere between the 75th and 80th). Fred Jackson - One rushing TD to make it 20 in his career. 769 rushing yards to make it 5000 for a career (only OJ and Thurman have ever done it in Buffalo). 68 carries to make it 1000 carries in Buffalo (only OJ, Thurman and Joe Cribbs have done this). CJ Spiller - 27 yards from scrimmage for 3,000 total on his career. Stevie Johnson - His first reception will be his 250th. BUFFALO BILLS ROOKIE RECORDS PASSING Jim Kelly (1986) - 3,593 yards Jim Kelly (1986) - 22 TDs Jim Kelly (1986) - 285 completions Joe Ferguson (1973) - 9 wins Trent Edwards (2007)/Dennis Shaw (1970) - 2 game winning drives (rough stat as some aren't recorded) RECEIVING Lee Evans (2004) - 843 yards Glenn Bass (1961) - 50 receptions Lee Evans (2004) - 9 TDs KICKING Pete Gogolak (1964)/Booth Lusteg (1966) - 19 field goals made Scott Norwood (1985) - 76.5% (Highest percentage by a rookie kicker with at least 15 attempted) Pete Gogolak (1964) - 45 extra points made ONLY TWO rookie kickers have ever made 50 yard field goals their rookie season: Grant Guthrie made one in 1970 and Mack Yoho made two in 1960 (the only kicks he made that year)
  18. It WAS originally used as a disparaging term. That person in the link is one person compared to the MANY others researchers who have concluded otherwise. While it takes one to start a movement, I'd need a lot more than just one researcher to change history. And, just to entertain your/this researchers theory, the word is STILL based on terrible times. It still stands as a reminder of the times that American Indian's would have needed a term to separate themselves from the "whiteskins" who came, murdered them in cold blood and stole their land. So the theory that you stand behind still doesn't make the word usable.
  19. What is the revisionist historical bull ****? The term originated from the white man referring to American Indians. Please, do some research first.
  20. Pollock* He's told me and many others about the offers from places like Cincinnati and Cleveland. But I also heard from other people close to him that places as far as Denver were offering him opportunities. Just never felt like he needed anything bigger.
  21. This is 100% false. The league can and will stand by it's already in place restriction of marijuana. It doesn't have to be illegal for them to ban their players form using it. Sure, they will be less likely to know that people in those states are doing it since they won't be getting caught by police. BUT if they do find out that they were doing it they will follow the same guidelines already in place.
  22. Damnit. There's no team named the n word so NOBODY remembers slavery. (for the record, I don't say "n word" while discussing topics such as this in real life. I use the actual word. In online forums you don't get a feel for how everybody around the "room" is so I just avoid it).
  23. Hmmm. Doubt he beats out Tynes for that job. Could be close, though.
  24. Also, I'm assuming your doctors weren't the world-class doctors these professional players get. (No offense intended)
