Washington @ Philadelphia - NFC Championship Game thread

Eagles come out and murder the clock here on this next drive out of the half and go up 3 scores. Ball game. -
Dalton Kincaid- why so underwhelming this season?

I agree with you and disagree with you. Those minor trade ups are because they’ve identified “their guy” and rather get the who correct than worry about the where. That said, you are also wise stating that it is never a bad thing to wait and let the board fall to you. But you can’t really have both unless you luck out. He did it the right way in R1 this year but it isn’t always possible. One quality about Beane I like is that he swings. I rather take these minor risks than sit pat and be stuck picking a player you don’t love. Now we have our QB, I agree with the no trade ups in RD1 but don’t mind moving minor pieces to see them acquire guys it’s clear they’ve identified as being right for them -
Where are you watching the game today?

Clarence Center, NY 1st half in the basement wrangling the kids blitzing bedtime at half time (worked perfect last week) 2nd half living room, I’d say on the couch but I’ll be standing the whole time. After the game, I’ll be up until midnight reading TBD reactions -
Random talking head says something about the Bills

I’ve prepared myself for the following: Ball at the Bills 46 yard line. 3rd and 8 pass falls incomplete. Flag extended drive on a RTP call that inevitably reults in 6. You know it’s coming. Try not to break your TVs. -
The shelves have been raided. All the coaching staff had to be replaced. I didn’t mean him emotionally

I am glad this is the case, as the success we’ve seen is encouraging and consistency will hopefully only make this success continue. That said, if he had left, I wouldn’t have broken up about it. I think the best thing he’s done here is found a competent and reliable ground game. The passing offense still seems a bit predicable and basic. Yes, he is limited by talent at the boundary but has plenty to work with otherwise. At the end of the day, we’ll have Josh Allen under center. That means we’ll be just fine.

When you get to the top, it’s hard to start there in the NFL. I gotta imagine Dan Campbell is probably feeling a bit emptied by this. Disappointing divisional loss and it’s back to the drawing board for a lot of the schematics and play callers. I am picking them to have a tough year in 25

This. Paired with scheme and limited playing time, it was always and continues to be a head scratcher. It is what makes me weary of drafting another WR early in 2025, as we already know Coleman, Shakir, Samuel, Knox and Kincaid are all under contract. Any more cooks in that kitchen are likely to see Amari cooper level snaps at 25-35% of share. (plus I am guessing we will bring Hollins back in 2025). If Kincaid were a 3rd or 4th round investment, this wouldn’t even be a debate. However the fact that we already had a highly paid player and invested a high asset into another one was capping the impact of those players from the start. -

James Cook ran the ball 9 times for 20 yards. 3.3 YPC is not a good metric by any standard IMO. Allen scrambles inflated this as well (26 yard TD scamper). The team we’ve seen the last two weeks is not the same as it was earlier the last time we played. This is predictive and speculative, so I could be off base. I feel they’ve found their stride trying to stay ahead of the sticks and limit exposure to the pass rush and reduce need to push the ball down the field. The Brown point is fair. However, RBs were 19 for 49 yards at a whopping 2.6 YPC. All did most of the work here. We just dominated two of the best run defenses in football. That’s what makes me think they’re going to attack this game differently -

I’ve seen many people predict the Bills finally unleash their aerial assault through guys who’ve underperformed expectations this season. I am expecting the opposite. I fully think they believe they can impose their will and outmuscle the Chiefs on offense. We’ve got maulers up front, and multiple dangerous options in the backfield (Allen included). It makes the most sense to me that they’ll double down on their commitment to the run and when asked to throw, it’ll be the usual suspects. I do not anticipate a dominant pass catching performance from the likes of Cooper, Coleman or Kincaid. Last time the Bills played the Chiefs, they could not and would not run the ball. I expect that to be very different this time around. -

Prepare to be disappointed I am encouraged by the latest use of pressures from McDermott vs Baltimore. The look you mention puts a ton of pressure on the back end of the defense if your rushers can not get home. I’d hope that they can get creative on how they bring those 3 rushers (if that’s what they choose to do) to try and get guys better looks to get to the QB. -
Didn’t he play 3 snaps vs Baltimore? Not exactly a fair sample size

As many clutch plays as Milan has made, there were a handful of times in this game that Milano missed opportunities to bring a ball carrier down 1v1. He was often used to try and limit Lamar Jackson as a spy/controlled rusher and he was unable to bring him down. Williams is a sure tackler, so I wonder if they got to a point at the end of the game where they wanted to give Dorian a go.

You can put Cooper in the same boat as Von in this regard: Players who are past their prime, and have limited opportunities to contribute. We don’t need either guy to play even 50% of snaps or regularly being asked upon to do the dirty work. However, when they’re called upon in a crucial moment, can step up and get it done. You don’t need volume reps to break the game open. They aren’t who they used to be, but we only need a flash of it at the right moment and it’ll have all been worth it. We’ll see if it’ll come to be. I credit Beane with making the move given the state of the roster, low asset investment and potential return. Time will tell.
