Signed through the 2028 season, I am guessing you’re more likely to see a restructure instead of an extension. This next season has the highest cap hit at 63 mil, and I could see Beane wanting to convert this into signing bonus and spread it out down the road. I don’t think there is a hurry to extend him right now.

Not using James Cook on final drive a head scratcher
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m saying the result would be the same if they ran the same plays, regardless of who the RB was. They got away from the run that final drive likely because their first and 10 run was blown up and it became clear that Kc was in pressure looks. This is again an example of over scrutinizing decisions. Ty Johnson has been excellent in that role. No one was upset about it in the weeks before when he was scoring TDs. -
Not using James Cook on final drive a head scratcher

I am not in disagreement about play selection but the fact of the matter is that if cook were on the field for those six snaps on the last drive, the results would have been the same. It’s less to me about which RB was on the field and more about what strategy you use to attack them. My guess is that they wanted to try and grind the clock to zero. They ran the ball the first play and got blown up, and then after Allen bailed us out with a fresh set of downs, they knew KC was coming. We had no counter to that. -

Having cook on the field those last four plays likely wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the game. -
Very well said. People want to find the quick answer as if there is a keystone piece that lead to their failure. The reality here is that it was a complete team loss. Its easy to say the coaches have to call better plays in hindsight. It’s easy to say Allen should have thrown the swing pass to Shakir. All of this may be correct, but not the only reason they lost. There are many, MANY game defining moments that no one seems to remember. My example here is the 1st&10 on the final drive of the game. Connor McGovern is beat across his face and Ty Johnson is blown up in the back field resulting in a second and long. Do we all rally and say, McGovern blew us the game?!?! I think calmer heads will prevail and people will realize that this team is still very very good. A handful of things go differently in that game (a call, a block, a catch, a pass) and we are having very different conversations right now.

Lost in the sauce: Outstanding Performances vs KC
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let’s hope. He needs to play to his weight. Hunt certainly returned the favor on his TD and big boyed him with a stiff arm into the ground on what should have been a clean tackle. As a 2nd rounder at a position that isn’t high priority, I think he’ll grow in a serviceable player. I think this is true cognitively. -
Your implication that replacing Vons 6 sacks was expensive is what I was referencing. I don’t really this it would be. A DE at 30 could absolutely be enough, depending on if you hit or not. I would not in the slightest be surprised if that’s what they did. Now if you wanted to trade #30 for an established guy who costs a bit of money, now I think you’re onto something. I don’t see them doing both. For example, they won’t sign Josh sweat at 16 mil a year and take one at 30

Brandon Beane is on the clock….
EmotionallyUnstable replied to BillMafia716ix's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was just answering the question. Moving up in round one is not the way to go, unless it’s for our QB. Look at Beans history of 1st round trade ups. It is not pretty. I think the 2nd and 3rd round movement is absolutely called for, and why Beane loves to try and flip camp depth for late date 3 picks. -
Groot AJ Solomon Rookie Wily Vet This is the recipe. Every year Beane brings in these lunch pail guys (Toohill, Smoot, etc). So 3/5 of the guys are already on the roster. I don’t think 6 sacks is all that much production to replace. Smoot was making 2.5 mil and was a key contributor to this team. I don’t think his sack numbers were very good, but cost controlled. A 1st round pass rusher is certainly going to save you money and often much better returns down the line than hanging onto Von for another year. They aren’t completely bare here.

Lost in the sauce: Outstanding Performances vs KC
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
This man has a single skill and he does it well: fire off the ball and penetrate a gap with such uncontrolled force he either wastes himself and implodes like a supernova taking out those around him or makes a heck of a play at or behind the LOS. In my opinion, he plays well in Buffalo because this is exactly what he is asked to do here. If you ever see him try to take on a block, it’s likely he is going to be 8 yards down field. Kudos to the big man. It is amazing that the most consequential play from our DL in this game came from a street level retread who wasn’t even on the team in September. -

Bill's Free Agents 2025
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Donuts and Doritos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I tend to agree with you on Groot. I was projecting what they will do, not necessarily what I’d want them to do. I picked those two players because of their positional value to Beane. It is no doubt two areas they value. We’ve seen turnover at the other positions, but I believe they’ll pony up for these guys (right or wrong). -

These are non-essential pieces. The bigger moves will be the guys who are in line for extensions. Who does Beane see as a priority? Groot Benford Bernard Shakir Cook These moves will mold the future. Which of these guys do we see locked up long term? Which will hit their contract year playing out their final deal? My guess if they extend Groot and Benford, Shakir would be the next one on my list. I think they’ll play out Cook and Bernard. -
I don’t have a lot of happy memories of my childhood. My father was an abusive drunk. When he wasn’t out gambling away all the rent money, he was at home yelling angry tirades. It was only a matter of time until one of us knew we were able to be had. Still, all the physical pain was nothing in comparison to the emotional trauma my sibilings and I dealt with on a daily basis. It’s the scars like this that effect me to this very day and, for that, I can never forgive him. Yet, even as I sit here right now, I can without a doubt say the worst thing he ever did to me was make me a fan of the Buffalo Bills. disclaimer: this is not a real story. No innocent children were injured in the creation of this humor.

Xavier Worthy: So far, not much more than a gadget guy
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this was a bit by design. Shakir, Samuel, Kincaid…these guys are all movers in their own respect. The problem was when the middle of the field is closed off, we have no bodies who can win on the boundary. Remember the days of 17 to 14 when those 8-14 yard hitches and comebacks just seemed like pitch and catch? We haven’t seen a single route like that all year. Losing Diggs might not have hurt statistically, but I think it was felt on the field much more than people wanted to let on. Coleman is not that guy IMO. I’ve seen nothing this season that makes me (or any defense for that matter) feel like they’d need to either respect his downfield game, and he hasn’t the nuance or athleticism to win off the LOS. I think Beane was hoping for a Tee Higgins like pick here, and so far he is not even in the same realm. -

Joe Brady and Aaron Kromer had a rough night
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Edwards in particular in pass pro seemed to be getting walked back far too often into Allen’s lap. It made it extra challenging for out tackles. Not a good outing for the big fellas up front in pass pro imo -
As good as our OL was all season, I felt this might have been their worst game in pass pro. Edwards was constantly walked back into Allen and it made it look like the OTs lost their reps. No where to step up and now those DEs running the wheel are right on Allen. Rough outing for the guys up front in terms of protection.
