The team with the highest amount of cap to spend have made a single move (Funchess at 11mill). Meanwhile guys are being snatched up left and right to good contracts. Is Ballard asleep at the wheel, or does he have something brewing that I'm not seeing?

Dooms Day scenarios aside, I'm curious what fans believe to be the worst possible outcome of free agency and the draft. Exclude any injuries or off fied issues for current players and try to focus on moves, acquisitions (or lack there of) that you think would be terrible for the team. Let's see how bad things can get!

If they don't sign Skinner, this team is in real trouble. Even if they are able to bring him back, they are already looking.for additional scoring help through free agency or a trade. I just don't see this roster changing all that much between now and next year. Unless they love Risto, I fear this team is in for another let down year waiting for kids to grow into their shoes. And this is IF they are able to bring him back.

I respect your post and opinion but must ask, what do you do with our cap money over the next two years? It's not like we are saving for a new boat. Beane weaseled himself into the position where we can afford to over spend on a rotational player with a potential high upside instead of constantly settling for practice squad fodder

Anyone concerned over the money is crazy when you put into perspective the amount of cap room this year has this year and next. I like the deal but again, wish they built some insurance into this deal by offering more term. I'd hate to see him play to an excellent level and then leave in FA to big money.

I agree with this. General thought, not necessarily directed at you: From the Bills current situation, can they afford to miss in the first round at WR or OL? To me, I don't think the risk is worth the reward at WR, especially with a player like Metcalf. Allen needs consistent, reliable play makers. They can't afford to wait around for your first round pick to develop into the WR you hoped he would become. I'd rather see them get someone with a high floor at WR, whether they draft one or get someone from free agency. Take 9 and improve the trenches with a plug and play that can immediately help your team abd offers little risk of impedeing Allen's development

How does he help Allen any more than someone who could be taken in the second round? What skills does he have, or has shown, that would offer Allen consistency improvement?

That's an interesting point. I figured that the front office would offer themselves some protection against losing him the following year in the case that he does produce well. This deal is essentially a one-year rental. Maybe I'm biased because I think he has the potential to develop into a better than average DT...but they have the money to spend, so I was expecting an incentive based contract with possibly 2-3 years. This would allow them to bail if they aren't sold on him for a long term contract while guaranteeing his rights if he does in fact come on strong. Either way, it's surprising giving the comments from both Phillips and Beane regarding the situation.

Yes it does but not generally when a player re-signs with the same team, no? Normally it's a prove-it type deal through free agency while switching teams or rebounding from an injury.

Why the 1 year? Wouldn't you think they'd hope to look past one year? Are they unsure of his long term ability but want to see a full season/off-season? Possibly they weren't offering the long term.cash he was looking for so opted to take the prove it deal? Just curious how they didn't end up with more term on this deal.

Because we aren't drafting pentathletes. I want a proven football player. I get the injuries, lack of targets etc. I just want a player who has extensive film that can come in an immediately, will little doubt, improve this football team. Maybe he'll be a great WR and maybe he'll flop out. But is that a risk, at #9 overall, the Bills are in a position to take? I highly doubt it.
