I wouldn’t read into any report or observation from a drill, scenario, rep, etc. either good or bad. These are isolated reps that don’t reflect the comprehensive nature of a real game or player competition. Fun to read about and interesting to see the matchups, but what a beat writer tweets about a particular rep is meaningless.

In our neighborhood, Sunday morning our flag goes up and while I’m outside working or messing around, I’ll see people in jerseys, others shout “go bills” and then I have my 70+ year old neighbor who always stops by to see what we think. It really is a community of fans

I’m in the middle here. We have three solid starters. Stanford filled in well at times last year. Thompson has shown growth and could be Lorax replacement. VoJo/Lacey duking it out for the 6th LB. i don’t think we have tons of depth. We’ve got a good group though, albeit unproven behind our starters Listed right behind John Brown

Jaquan Johnson listed as S5, 6th if you include Siran in that count. Uphill battle for him for sure

A couple notable areas: Ford still listed as a Tackle This has Ray Ray over McKenzie for WR6 Cam Lewis sneaking in at CB5 over Pitts...the Captain is lurking though... Mike love is DE4 over Johnson and Yarbrough Maurice Alexander over VoJo for LB6 Did Micha Hyde and Kurt Coleman get cut, or is this missing a whole position on defense?

You clearly don't know my friends I get why ppl are upset but this is capitalism at its finest. A company cab charge whatever they need/want for a non-essential gluttonous item and we have the choice, as the consumer, to purchase or not. Now if you're talking internet service providers or airline tickets than we can have this argument! I love me a stadium beer, but usually limit myself to one. Back when I had season tickets, I chose not to drink in most games because it adds up. But now that I make one game a year, I live it up.

A potential 4th string RB must offer something on Special Teams in order to secure a roster spot, especially in this case. They cab essentially keep 5 RBs to start the year, 4 on the active roster with Wade protected to the practice squad. They could always activate him in the active roster if they wanted and release the fourth guy, but that's not happening this year. You say it's easy to come in an run but playing RB is so much more than just running with the ball. Pass pro, blitz pickup, situational awareness, etc. He may be an amazing athlete, but with the international program essentially gifting the Bills a 54th roster spot, there is zero reason for him to be on the 53

With week one of the preseason out of the way, I started to look deeper into last year's and current Buffalo Bills roster. It was pretty interesting, most notably the weakness in depth of last year's team. That being said, there are a few really interesting, tight positional battles to look out for as the Bills are forced to make some tough decisions. I used the 2018 roster as a projection for the number of players (roughly) that the Bills will keep at each position. I thought this was a fun way for me to zero in on specific players to watch moving forward. To aid along the way, I separated the positions into LOCKS and Battles. Let's get started: *LOCK #1: Quarterbacks (2) Josh Allen Matt Barkley Tyree Jackson Last year Beane and Co. carried two into the season. I cannot see them wanting to carry Tyree, especially based on the depth at other positions and how valuable other could be in special teams or in specific roles. He adds no value to your active roster and will likely try to get him on the PS. *LOCK #2: Full Backs (1) Patrick DiMarco My desperate plea again falls upon deaf ears. Based upon his special teams value, and the way the coaching staff has spoken about him, DiMarco's role on this team is carved in stone. The more likely scenario IMO, is that they will carry 4 active into the season, releasing one of the them in a corresponding move to activate Kroft. This years crop is much more versatile, and it allows for movement across the line. For example, I have Ford listed as a Guard, but he could also play Tackle if need be. I gave Long the nod over Bodine, because he likely could slide in at Guard if need be. If you wanted to keep another pure tackle, I'd say Feliciano is the next to go with McDermott the next in. 4th or 5th DE Darryl Johnson Eddie Yarbrough Mike Love 2018 saw 4 DE's to begin the year. Hughes, Murphy and Lawson are all good to go, leaving the 4th rotational spot up from grabs. The edge here goes to Johnson. I think they like his length and motor. He and Yarbrough both had good showing the other night. They may consider keeping 5, but the 5th would likely need to contribute to Special Teams to make it worth it. Mike Love isn't written off yet, because of this. Either way, the Bills will have to release a good player. 6th LB Vosean Joseph Deon Lacey Maurice Alexander Tyrel Dodson Edmunds, LoRax and Milano are your starters. With three spots left, Stanford and Thompson offer great depth and also contribute on teams. What it comes down to here is Lacey vs. Joseph. I can appreciate what Deon has brought to the team in the past, but this is the future. VoJo (you like that?) will likely get the green light, especially if he can keep those booming hitting coming on kickoffs! 5th CB Lafayette Pitts Ryan Lewis E.J. Gaines Denzel Rice Cam Lewis I see 4 safe players in White, Levi Wallace, and both Johnsons... That leaves 1 CB spot remaining between the rest of these guys. I'm going with Pitts. Gaines injury could buy him some time if he hits PUP, but I don't see him lasting too long. Pair this with Pitts cool first name and I'll give him the advantage. However, it is possible that they'll only carry 4 CBs if they can all play the boundary (which they can)...see below... 4th and possibly 5th Safety Kurt Coleman Dean Marlowe JaQuan Johnson Abraham Wallace This is your best match-up, IMO. Hyde, Poyer and Siran Neal round out your top 3, leaving 1 or potentially 2 spots for these three fellas if they only keep 4 traditional CB's. This is assuming Siran can play big nickel or in the slot, given an injury to either Johnson. I see Coleman's history helping him find a way onto the 53, and Dean Marlowe has impressed since his time on the PS in the past year. Johnson has an uphill battle, but will be a great practice squad candidate if he doesn't make it, likely seeing time it the big boys at points throughout the year. What battles are your watching?

I wish I had a million dollars, because if I did, I'd bet you all that next year's top two RBs are not Singletary and Wade. I'll give you that Singletary could COMPETE for top RB duties next year. He will in no way be given an uncontested path to the job. You're likely looking at them bringing in (given no more shady or Gore) one or two quality backs, either through free agency or the draft. It has been one preseason game of the guys first season as a pro. I'm not ready to hand him the future of the backfield. Wade is a great story, but like I mentioned above, he is in for a long, uphill battle. He's going to been to make a splash via the PS this year. Regardless of what he does, he isn't going to enter camp next year as a top option. Given Shady's injury history, and for all the reasons you mentioned, I think they'd be insane to not carry both of them through the season. Playing time is a different story. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gore or Shady a non-injury inactive at some point throughout the year. No reason to force feed these guys the ball, but all the reason to keep as many good players around as possible.
