Look at us… all just a bunch of suckers complaining about the level of entertainment. Yet we all know where we’ll be next week for Commanders Bears !

The holding specialist strikes again

Someone was talking about this the other day. It’s confusing, progress, out of bounds, it’s all so situational

I’ve ran into current Bills players on two occasions, like almost literally, ran into them: 1) We were trying to exit the galleria mall while EJ Manuel was trying to come in the same door. He was with a few other guys, none of who I immediately recognized mostly because I was so surprised to look up and see him right there. This was his 2nd or 3rd year in the league. He must have realized we were staring because he gave us the ole head nod, and kept it moving. Guy looked like an average Joe in street clothes. 2) At SoHo Burger bar downtown buffalo late one August night, we were heading upstairs to the rooftop bar and as we turned to continue upward, we stop to let a guy go up right before us. My wife says, “isn’t that Ronald Darby?”. I told her absolutely not, there is no way. That dude is tiny. As soon as we get upstairs, we immediately run into an entire entourage highlighted by Sammy Watkins, who was being mobbed by the local woo girls (he looked like he had zero interest). I didn’t interact with any of them at the time, but Sammy’s demeanor was off-putting from a far. BONUS: My only non-bill I’ve run into was John Randle. He was at a bar in Buffalo, presumably after the Kelly golf tournament circa 2014. He flicked me off using the old crank-up the middle finger trick. Good times. Also, I’ve also met Thurman Thomas’ daughter. My friend tried to hit on her. No dice. It was a great party though!

I can’t believe I’m going to stay up for this whole game
-
Remember last year when Matt Ryan slid short of the EZ, thought he had a TD, taunted Poyer for a 15 yard penalty and ended up with zero points lol
-
I like it.

Snap reaction: when their kicker missed a 30 yard FG and the city of Chicago lost their minds. I honestly don’t remember when or what the circumstances were because it was so inconsequential. Edit: I looked it up. Cody Parkey 43 yard FG missed to lose the NFC Wild Card game in 2018.

Refs moving the ball more effectively than either QB
-
Bills vs Chiefs last year in the playoffs compared to this game just looks like an entirely different sport
-
Naheim Hines has a back injury it appears
-
How did Matt Ryan fall over on that sack? Was he even hit? We are so spoiled

No. Players can’t be claimed off practice squads. Teams can offer them to sign to their active roster though, and the player would have to accept the contract.

Week 5: Steelers at Bills 10/9 1pm

So tonight I had a chance to rewatch the 2nd half of Baltimore (offensive snaps) and again had a particular focus on the run game: -FWIW, they were almost exclusively in 11 personnel this whole half. -the first drive after half began with two successful runs: toss for 15+ and a zone with a nice Singletary cut back for 9. - the very next play 2nd&9 never stood a chance, as Singletary was met behind the LOS as Dawkins was unable to meet the slanting DL. Would have liked to see Saffold lend a hand here before moving onto the 2nd level. -a few inconsequential runs of 3 and 4 scattered throughout to Singletary with decent movement upfront. I don’t mind these. -After the first Poyer INT - Moss goes for 1, with Bates blown up by the DL essentially ruining the play (the next play Bates/Moss get tripped up on a TE stunt in pass pro on 3rd&9 leading to an Allen sack - FYI) The final drive, after the roughing call, 1&10 from the 26 going in and Singletary loses a yard on a zone read. It looked to me as though they had 6 to block 7, with Allen expected to hold the 7th defender. It did not work. (Although the play action off of this to Knox is going to be wide open!) A few other thoughts: Despite the obvious negatives (fumble and dropped pass) I thought Singletary played a great ball game. He had some nifty runs after the catch in a few quick hitting pass plays, and was the most effective back helping out in protection. Two awesome Allen throws - Diggs on the 25+ out and McKenzie dime on the 3rd and 7 (which he was concussed on). Those were elite passes. Knox had two excellent blocks on screens: pancaking a player on the Shakir catch and run, and opening up a huge lane for Singletary on a quick hitting throw on the final drive. It is almost unbelievable how much trouble Allen bails this team out of. Go back and watch. It’s play after play of him eluding pressure, delivering a strike, running for positive yards when there is a fumbled snap, converting 4th downs. It almost seemed like every time he drops back, he is doing something above and beyond to make it all come together. Truly Amazing. I don’t think this teams rushing woes are truly as bad as we make them out to be. However, I do think that they need to get it done in short yardage. P.S. Ken Dorsey, if you’re reading this, can you PLEASE call me because I have lots of questions that reporters don’t/won’t ask -
Now is the time we need Cook to start playing well

You need the coach cut of the EZ view to see what was really happening here. I’m not abdicating him or responsibility but this view can be misleading -
Week 5: Steelers at Bills 10/9 1pm

Just rewatched the first half of the Baltimore game. I watched only the offensive snaps. Man, that was brutal. A few things really stuck out to me, especially in the run game: -most of their struggles came from out of 21 personnel, in 8 man boxes. I don’t know why Dorsey likes to pack them in and try to go Mano y Mano, but I don’t think we have the horses to just flat out move the LOS. -they actually ripped off a few good runs in the first half. Singletary’s fumble was well blocked and he probably goes for 8 or 9 on that play if he hangs on. Moss had a five yard run on a nice hole. - We ran the ball twice on 3&1. On the first attempt out of 21 personnel, the box was stacked and the formation had everyone bunched tight to the LOS. Morse and Bates were blown up. The play never stood a chance. On the second attempt, we were out of 11 personnel, in a 2x2 spread set. The box was light and a handoff to l Singletary went for almost 5. Other items of note: Drops from Diggs, Singletary, Cook (I’d throw crowder in here but that was a fast ball). Multiple tipped passes They ran on multiple occasions what looked at first to be a wheel combination, both times with Davis/McKenzie, but instead of wheeling up the sideline, McKenzie banged it off for a 5 yard slant. Diggs is often open. Edit: Anyone know how religiously Dorsey sticks to his script? How many plays? -

If they do it right, they could essentially get two weeks off: An inconsequential Week 18 and a bye….I’ll take that, check please! -

He is no Lamar Jackson. 4.73 at the combine. Around what Allen ran. Yet, he is not a running threat they could lean on. I would group him in with someone like David Carr or Aaron Rogers regarding his capability and willingness. I don’t expect him to rip off 35 yard runs, but he is capable to extend plays and will keep his eyes down field looking to deliver the ball while on the move. -
Rams haven’t thrown the ball downfield at all. DB jumps the short pass. Surprise surprise
