I get what you mean, but these guys are in peak physical form. As a lesser personal example fro my own collegjant career when I played ball, I was actually faster my junior year weighing an additional 10 lbs than my senior year. I tried to shave some weight and it only brought my mass now, but did not add to my acceleration or top end speed. It’s a lot about body composition. To think he’ll shave 10 lbs and be meaningfully faster is not practical.

It is easier for a young guy like 77 to clear waivers at cut down day during the year. If they’re going to release him it will be now while all the other teams are also trying to bring back their own guys to the PS and know injuries and such.
