  1. This is exactly the opposite of how they used AJE last year and idky we’d expect that to change. They’d save 4M cutting him, so if you can bring in a rookie who can complete right away then I think it makes him expendable especially knowing he’s on his last leg. edit; hang on do you mean “rushing the passer” or “rush the football” because my post was in regards to him being primary an early down player
  2. Rumor has it the icing on the cake to get the deal done was the return of Reggie Gilliam
  3. I don’t see this as removing DE from the discussion at 30. In fact, I think it shouldn’t. Bosa is on a one year deal and AJ is free agent next year too. That leaves Groot, Solomon and Hecht as the only under contract past this season with Groot being the only real hand-in-the-dirt 4-3 edge. If the BPA left is a DE, I’m still all over that
  4. This makes AJ expendable, especially if they draft a DE at 30
  5. I didn’t say I didn’t like it, just that I am not expecting much. In fact I am glad Beane is swinging
  6. I have a feeling this will not go well. Can’t fault Beane for trying.
  7. I believe it’s absolutely realistic to expect to bring in at least 3 rotational guys who will play significant snaps, #30: CB (100% of snaps) #56: DE (40% of snaps) #62: DT (30-40% of snaps) Past this you can grab a safety who can play rotationally. I don’t expect and game wreckers unless we get lucky on taking a guy who high upside. Most likely outcome is 3 guys who can be significant factors in year one.
  8. This is fine. Mostly a ST deal
  9. Buy land east of the city
  10. Land a decent CB (Asante Samuel Jr still available?) and I’ll feel fine going into the draft: can you get 3-4 starter-level rotation defenders in the draft? I think so. Beane heavily banking on young player development
  11. We are fixing to select a CB DE and DT in our first three picks in some arrangement. Free agency has only reinforced that.
  12. So far we’ve added at WR and DE Expexting mid to low average additions at DT and CB. Money aside, I feel like they’ve addressed 2 of 4 obvious needs and need to plug up the other two before the draft…then take BPA for our first 3 picks and hope we have enough to run it back 🤷‍♂️ Still sorely lacking game breaking talent on D
  13. He was a bit of a tweener. Not sure how much he fits with them. He was a standing edge at times in a 5 down look or played off the ball a bunch too. Hopefully 4-3 end is a better fit
  14. My guess is neither right now. I am assuming that with the extensions (Bernard, Groot, Shakir), Von release and Josh Allen new deal, they are where they want to be for free agency. Once they make it into the summer and the roster is assembled, THEN I think you can get a Benford move. I thoroughly think they’ll let Cook play it out
  15. Im bracing myself for some slightly above average numbers for slightly above average players. I think many here have captured my thoughts on Beane and his ability it find and assemble a good to very good roster. The elite players are what we’re missing. The top end talent has proven not good enough to get it done over the past 3-4 years and I am not sure where they plan to address that now. I have mixed feelings on it. On one hand, from an entertainment standpoint, it would have been tremendously exciting to land a fish line Higgins, Garrett or DK. On the flip side of it, they were a few bad bounces away from winning the AFCC game.
  16. Wow. I am surprised this is the destination. No QB, cold weather, must be all about the Benjamins
  17. So Wednesday? If you’re signing major cats it’ll need to be before then, which is why I am suggesting time is limited Agreed and they haven’t yet, aside from the Groot extension and the miller cut they haven’t really maxed out those options He could restructure them. He could extend them. For the purposes of this discussion, the goal is to create more immediate cap relief. I am aware they are different, just didn’t specify. I think the time is ticking to get these things done.
  18. Beane is a little behind the 8 ball on restructures, if they’re looking to free up money for free agency by Wednesday. The extension they’ve signed have only created so much room, and need to move on bigger ticket guys like Allen, Ed, Dawkins and Knox. Otherwise I am anticipating very little action, reminiscent of last year. Regardless of what you think of the Shakir, Bernard and Groot extensions, the fact of the matter is that they aren’t in a position to be key players in the open market RN, even after letting Von go; I am not holding my breath.
  19. At this point the most likely scenario is the bills opt for the “run it back” year….minimal FA additions of note and drafting reinforcements. Hope to hear of some restructures (Allen) before tmrw or we’re likely looking at a re-do.
  20. Be careful. I got roasted for this take but I agree. Although an extension likely reduces his cap here this year, it ties up a bunch of $$ down the road when you would be paying Garrett a ton. It’s amazing how fast ppl went from “send Groot and 1st for Garret” to “great deal!”
  21. My preferred outcome. Save $$ and rid yourselves of the burden of feeling pressures into playing Von at crucial moments. Time to get younger and more explosive
  22. You’d think that about kicking it down the road but that wasn’t really the case with the Shakir deal. I don’t know why I’d expect this to be any different. Personally with the Garrett trade likely happening after 6/1, they’ll still need to invest significantly into FA and the draft to build the DL up. I think it limits the likelyhood they’ll be able to swing it in June. The timing makes things difficult and less than ideal on both sides
