LAMP: I Just Need to Vent
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Texas. Alcohol laws state if alcohol is being served at a function, there needs to be one for every certain number of people, I believe 50 but don't quote me. Texas is always known as this lawless old west wasteland, but we have some of the weirdest and strictest alcohol laws in the nation. -
Today I Learned....PartII
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It doesn't go old. It'll still be good 200 years from now. But it won't be anymore "aged" than when you bought it. My aunt has a bottle of champagne from when we won the AFCE back in 1988. She's been saving it till we win the Super Bowl. It'll be vinegar by then, but I'll be so happy I won't care. -
Ah. Didn't hear that whole story. That's pretty cool then. I've read a few stories about GM's mother's names being crossed off the Stanley Cup.

That's cool of them, but I'd actually feel guilty wearing it.

LAMP: I Just Need to Vent
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The wedding is next week. But the drama is. My cousin is taking her place as a bridesmaid, and she's no longer coming to the wedding. My aunt, who never says a bad word about anybody texted me to make sure "That f-ing b**** isn't coming to the wedding." -
I'm not a scotch drinker. More of a bourbon guy. I usually drink Evan Williams Bonded, which is surprisingly good for the price. My brother in law came to town, so I splurged and bought a bottle of Jameson. I know it's not top top shelf, but it's what I like. We're about to go to the porch to smoke cigars, and I see him grab a Dr. Pepper. I say "Hey man, you know I bought Jameson, right?" He replies, "Yeah, that's what the Dr Pepper is for." It hurt me. I asked him to please turn his back to me so I don't see it happen. Also, you can go with Michael Scott's drink of choice. Scotch and Splenda. "Sweet like Splenda, get's you drunk like scotch."

Would you pursue Patrick Kane
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to RPbillsfan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I should have specified. Agreed 100% about the Kane case. The cabbie thing isn't justifiable. But it happened ten years ago. I more or less meant the part about Eichel being a douche. -

Proof? -
I used to love it for the music. Didn't realize till about a year ago the song was a metaphor for heroin.

The taxi driver thing ten years ago. That said, if it hypothetically could be done for draft picks and fit him under the cap, in a minute. -
I've actually liked "Why Don't We Do It in the Road" for what it is. A stuipid, simple song of Paul just screwing around on the piano. And Happiness Is A Warm Gun is probably my favorite song on the album.

Bills Release Peterman

Because Peterman was literally the only option left. -
Chat Bots--Love em or Hate em?
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to plenzmd1's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've found some of them very helpful, but not the pop up ones. When they're put in the "contact us" section, but not on the home page. On the home page, it's just annoying. Personally, I don't need the automated ones. If I'm in need of talking/chatting with a person, I've already scourged their website for the answer I need. So when I try them because it's a 50/50 shot that it's a real person, they direct me to a page I've already looked at. But someone who isn't so keen on doing things like that, might use it. -
Most Famous Bills Fan you ever met

I'm sure he's never had a fan say that to him before. He was probably honored and surprised that someone remembered that. -

Haven't met either of them, but I've read rumors that Meatloaf and Eddie Van Halen are Bills fans. -
I Wonder What it is Like to be Released in the NFL
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do gotta say, I feel bad when I read about a guy who found out he was cut or traded from a public source before being talked to by the team. Shady found out from ESPN I think, and never got a chance to be told by Chip Kelly. -
I was reading an article that said this is why rock and roll came to such prominence when it did. Mom and dad would have the hifi speakers and good turn table. Suitable for playing more orchestral stuff, big band, rat pack, etc. At the same time, teenagers were buying cheap record players. So simple music like early rock and roll, without too many highs or lows, sounded great on those things.

If you've still got the age, and you're decent, there's a job for you somewhere, just whether or not you're willing to take a job with that pay. Whether that's a backup, or arena, or CFL. Practice squad. Even some sort of coaching or other oppertunity at your college. So probably not. I think about this with baseball players who are borderline between MLB and AAA, or whatever level. Constantly being called up and sent down. -
Did Maximum Overdrive (the movie) save AC/DC?
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to dpberr's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Met a guy that plays John Lennon in a nationally touring tribute act. He said he'd love to have the real John Lennon's money. But the fame aspect is the best of both worlds. He goes on stage, fans go nuts for him. Gets off, maybe takes a few pictures. Then goes back to his dressing room, takes off his wig and throws on a pair of jeans a t-shirt, and goes out to a bar, or dinner, or his hotel with nobody bothering him. -

I know a guy who's in an AC/DC tribute band, and they brought him in for an audition after Brian had to leave. Said he played a whole set, Angus came out while he was having a smoke break and told him he was great, and wanted to do a few more songs with him in the studio with them. Of course they'll already played "Back in Black," "Highway to Hell" etc, all the hits. I can't remember what song it was, but one of the more obscure ones. Angus replied "How the f--- do you think I remember that one?" Met a Britsh guy at a bar one. Happened to have an AC/DC shirt on so we chatted for a while. Said he used to go to this weekly open mic at some suburban pub back in England. About once a month Clapton would come in and just participate like anybody else. Apparetnly it was the only place in town, and Clapton had a home there, so everybody was used to him being there and didn't gawk over it. -

I do wonder about this. Especially being cut mid season, as opposed to Hard Knocks where you're cut while fighting to get signed, knowing full well that until the final cut is made, you better not make yourself comfortable. . If you've already established home in your current playing city? How long do you stay there? You're most likely still going home with more money in your account than most people ever dream of earning in their lifetime. But it still probably feels like any of us getting fired. The "job search" aspect is usually done by your agent I'd assume.
