Does your office have grab bag gifts?
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My office is doing something I've never heard of before today, but should be kinda fun. White Elephant, so you don't know who gets it. But, you can't buy anything. It has to be something used from your own house. I bought you a Flutie jersey. Should be there by Christmas. -
What are the coolest autographs you've collected over the years? All of mine came from me meeting the person directly, not buying the autograph. I've never directly paid for autograph in my life. One's I've had (even if I probably lost some since then), in order of how cool I think they were Chuck Berry. Waited outside his dressing room before a show. REO Speedwagon. Literally standing in the same spot I got Chuck's a few months later. They almost hit me with their bus. Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford. Drummer and Bassist for Creedence. Same spot as the first two. George Thorogood. After a show where I sat front row all show holding up my album. Doobie Brothers current lineup. My aunt's friend from high school is married to their current sax player, so we got backstage passes. Derek St. Holmes. Original lead singer for Ted Nugent. Wrote all of his songs that were actually good before Ted kicked him out in the early 80s. Mick Brown (Drummer from Dokken.)

They're probably still worth something, granted less.

So I remember, clear as day. I was about 4-5 years old. My parents took me to the carnival at the Southgate Plaza in West Seneca. There was a clown show, that relied on a lot of audience participation. I was picked out of the crowd to be the "strong man." They put me in a caveman type jacket, and I lifted an inflatable dumbbell over my head. Then they picked my dad out of the crowd, and put him in a Bill Clinton mask (who was president at the time), and had him lead a small parade of all of the kids around the stage. Neither of my parents have any recollection of any of this happening. But I know it wasn't a dream.

Pyramid scheme or MLM?

I know where you got this. Lol. I made it. I've literally seen people post about how they wore the make up to their loved one's funeral, and how it didn't smear once while crying. -
Pyramid scheme or MLM?

I mean, eventually they go broke. But a lot of them reinvest in other scams, over and over in an endless cycle. It's sad. They literally lose any sense of personality they ever had. -
So I saw that a few months ago, the NFL just allowed people who own other pro sports teams to own NFL teams. While that's great, how the hell have the Pegulas (who also own the Sabres (of the NHL)), pulled a fast one on Greedy Roger and friends? I don't know the details of the new rule, but hopefully it's backdated, otherwise we're in real trouble.

Who Should Be Fired
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I listed it as an option simply because I've seen people complaining about it. -
Only time I ever watch a commercial is during a sporting event. Even then it's rare. I usually start the hockey games about 45-60 minutes after they start, and catch up around the last ten minutes of the game. And I watch Bills games at a Bills Backers Bar with a DJ that plays music during the commercials.

Honestly, why can't Buster Bison be the mascot for all Buffalo teams? -
Honestly, I never understood how someone using your song to sell that product, assuming you're not opposed to the product itself, devalues the artistic value of your song. As long as you're not writing them intentionally to be used in ads.

Nice to see that shitstorm is still postable. -
I have season tickets for University of Houston. They day the Bills sign/draft someone from there, I'm buying a red Bills jersey with their name. Even if they don't pan out as a Bill, it's still Cougars colors, and I can wear it to those games. Hey. Don't insult the greatest jerseys in the history of baseball. (unbiased)

Pyramid scheme or MLM?

I had a friend at my old church. He was a cool guy. He was probably about 10-15 years older than me. He was a Packers fan, and a Red Wings fan. We got a long well because you don't meet too many hockey fans here in Texas, regardless of the team. We worked on a lot of projects together in the church, and became quite close. Unfortunately, he ended up being laid off from his job, and was desperate for work. He got signed on with an MLM called "Team National." Essentially a rebate club. He invited my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I to a meeting. Immediately, I could tell this was a scam. From the diagrams of how the money works, to the overall cult like atmosphere. My wife was much more naive at the time, and was not employed a the time. She was buying everything they told us about how we'll have financial freedom, and never have to find a job, not to mention the savings alone. They could tell I wasn't interested, so they immediately started pitting us against each other. When I asked to talk to her privately, we walked outside, and not two minutes later this "friend" of mine came out telling us about how we're "getting in on the ground level." I told him that I needed some time to think it over, pray about it. He said no, act now. Acting now meant spending either $800 or $2,000 right then and there. Some Christian right there. After we ultimately decided against it, he wasn't the same person. Every time I'd try to talk about sports with him, he'd tell me he has no interest in that stuff anymore. He was only interested in things that contributed to his personal success or some BS. He told me that we can work together on church projects, and that he "considers me a Brother in Christ, but I can't be friends with you anymore because you're a negative influence in my life." This whole time, he was basically living off of his lifetime savings account to provide for his wife and two kids. I asked him out of genuine concern about two months after this all went down how the business was going. "I've only made about $50 so far, but I have some promising leads." I asked him how much longer he could survive, and he said he had about six months left worth of savings. When I told him that I hope this works out, but wanted to know what his backup plan is, he responded, "I don't have a backup plan. I'll never go back to working a regular job again. I know if I keep working at this, I'm gonna be a millionaire in two years." It was really sad to see. He was at one point a wise, fun guy to hang around. But when he lost his job, the guy above him in the chain, who I don't trust one single bit, preyed on him and turned him into a mindless robot. I honestly miss my friend, and hope he sees his error and is humble enough to admit his mistakes and start providing for his family. -

I love Phil Spector, and I love The Beatles. I just think they're two different artists, and it didn't turn out well. Also, I read online that there was a cocaine fueled jam session in the mid 70s between Lennon, McCartney, Harry Nillson, and Stevie Wonder. While that sounds awesome, I looked it up, and it was absolutely terrible.

Honestly, I'd take that risk. I'd be more disapointed if they were Boneless Applebee's wings than if it was a rapist. Trust me, I don't wanna be there. Brother in Law is in the Air Force and we're visiting him.
