The Beatles last album
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Most of Fogerty's solo work was him on all the instruments. He refused to play Creedence for like 15 years after the breakup. I'd be pissed if I was a casual fan, and paid money for the ticket to not hear Proud Mary or Down on the Corner. The worst thing he did was refuse to play a 15 minute set with them at the HOF ceremony, and instead it was Fogerty and Springsteen, and I believe the rest of the E Street Band. However, they recently put their differences aside to make some business decisions. Fogerty didn't like the way they sounded at Woodstock (nobody did besides Hendrix because he played Monday morning after the rain cleared up), so he refused to let it be released. They finally all agreed to allow it to be released, so maybe there's hope for a reunion? -

I read a book about the history of the band. It was mostly a compelation of quotes and interviews from the band themselves, and the author just added details, but was otherwise unbiased. There was a story John Fogerty told about Down on the Corner. He'd written it the night before, but came into the studio and pretended to write it, and let them help out so that they could feel like they contributed to it. I read John's side of the story, and assumed that when I read the other bandmates side, they'd talk about how they actually did help write the song. Nope. They basically said that story is completely untrue. Paraphrasing here, "John wrote the song by himself. We never thought we helped. He's a great songwriter, and I don't know why he thinks he has to drag us through the mud to point that out." Yeah, the other band members even admit that Mardi Gras was a weak album except for John's contributions. It seems all four (now three) of them agree that John Fogerty is the most talented member of the band, but John for some reason thinks they don't agree, and are jealous. -
It's late and she's waiting And I know I should go home But every time I start to leave They play another song Then someone buys another round And wherever drinks are free What's made Milwaukee famous Has made a fool out of me

Stayed in bed all mornin' just to pass the time There's somethin' wrong here, there can be no denyin' One of us is changin', or maybe we've just stopped tryin' And it's too late, baby now, it's too late Though we really did try to make it Somethin' inside has died, and I can't hide And I just can't fake it, oh, no, no

Ted's hot dogs: the best?
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Off the Wall Archives
As far as the brand itself of hot dog that's best, I thought it was Salhen's. But my dad, brother and I took a road trip to see the Bisons play in Rochester. Naturally, we ordered hot dogs. And we all agreed it was the best hot dog we'd ever had. We asked around and found out it was Zweigle's, which we'd never heard of, and we never went back. Salhen's is a close second though. -
Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new Worry, why do I let myself worry? Wondering what in the world did I do? Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying And I'm crazy for loving you

There's no Creedence to that story though. (sorry. see what I did there?) That story was denied by everybody, including John himself. -

Don't know how Physical it got, but Creedence is/was a band that still holds huge grudges almost 50 years later. It boils down to the fact that John Fogerty is the creative genius, and while the rest of the remaining members even concede that point, John perceives jealousy that doesn't even really seem to be there. I've seen Creedence Clearwater Revisited (Doug Clifford, drummer, and Stu Cook, bassist, along with a John Fogerty sound alike) three times live. They always take time out of their show to acknowledge and thank John Fogerty for writing all the songs they played that night. Never a bad word about John. Even met them once, albeit briefly. Really nice guys. They won't publicly disparage John, and only bring him up when asked, and do their best to give their opinion without insulting him. -

I was 11, and my grandma had two TVs, and no computer at the time. My brother was watching some little kid show, so I only had the choice to watch TV with my dad and grandma. This documentary was on TV. Was fascinated by it. About a month later my mom bought "The Beatles 1" CD (All of their #1 hits). I was hooked. Funny thing was, we didn't have a true CD player in the house. Just a PS1. And we only had a mono TV, and RCA cables. So half the songs, I only heard the left channel. Wasn't until I bought the cassette tape a few months later that I realized Yellow Submarine had lyrics outside of the chorus, and Eleanor Rigby wasn't just an instrumental piece. Around 8th grade, my mom bought me the Beatles Anthology 8 DVD set. As much as I give you crap about Stones over Beatles, I love both bands almost equally, albeit for completely different reasons. -

America's Best Buffalo Wings
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to TSNBDSC's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yep. I'm diabetic, and I'm usually pretty good about not playing the "I'll eat/drink this sugary thing and just take more insulin" game. That day was an exception. My wife hasn't been to Buffalo, but always heard me talk about Loganberry. So I had one with my meal, and took another can to take home for her to try. As far as the Anchor Bar goes, they make a fine wing, and I tip my cap to them being the OG. If you're not from the area, and you go there, it'll probably be the best wing you've had in your life. That said, so many people took their original invention, and did so much more with it. -

Whenever I come home, the first and last place I stop is a little hole in the wall diner in Lackawanna, right by the South Buffalo border called "Abbott Texas Hots." The dogs themselves are Salhen's I believe, so good, but nothing special. But their sauce is the best Texas sauce I've ever had. I always get 2-3 hot dogs, drizzled in sauce, and fries with a side of the sauce. I'd buy a jar, but the owner is very secretive about the recipe and won't let anybody have more than they'll need for a meal. -
I met her in a club down in old Soho Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like Coca Cola C-O-L-A Cola She walked up to me and she asked me to dance I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said, "Lola" L-O-L-A Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine Oh my Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand Why she walked like a woman but talked like a man Oh my Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola

There's too many great songs to fit on two sides for the White Album. There was definitely some filler on there to get it to be four sides. "Piggies" Do it in the Road, come to mind. But mostly fantastic songs that I'd rather have with the filler than have them try to reduce it to two sides. -

Pluckers has the best wings I've had away from home. Nine-Eleven is my personal favorite. Duff's has a Dallas location I went to last week. Didn't get wings though. Got a Beef on Weck and a Loganberry. -

Agreed. I enjoy it along with Abbey Road for complete opposite reasons. I mean they went from the orchestral, psychedelic pop/rock of Sgt Pepper and MMT, to the stripped down no BS, hard rock, bluesy, and accoustic type songs on the Whtie Album. -

They started coming into their own as song writers around Rubber Soul for sure. I guess technically, Help! is where it started. Help was exclusively written by John, and Yesterday didn't even include any other Beatles on the recording. It was all but officially Paul's first solo effort. But they both still worked and collaborated together on most songs, even if just bouncing ideas off of each other. Tensions were so high by the White Album though that they all worked almost exclusively alone. Other than Birthday, I can't think of anything on there that's stood out as a true Lennon/McCartney song. -

I'd to agree and expound. I love Brandon Beane, and do think he was an upgrade. We took a clear step backwards last year for the long term. I think if we kept Tyrod and the status qo, we have another 8-9 win season, and possibly back our way into the playoffs again. That said, I think Doug Whaley was under the pressure to "win now," and wasn't allowed to take that necessary step back year to help build us for the long term. I think he was on a short leash, and wasn't given the freedom that Beane has. Hence the reach for players like Sammy and EJ. -

The draft is full of question marks and gambles, and there's no reason to be upset that we passed on Mahomes. -
