Bad Dining Experiences
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I can't speak for type-1, but I'm type 2. That's something you can do on special occasions, but not on a regular basis. I used to drink almost nothing but regular Coke. That's probably the main culprit for causing my diabetes. I switched to Coke Zero, or Diet whatever is available. Once in a great while, if that's all there is, I'll have a regular pop. After having one 12 ounce can, I feel kind of drunk, and now it tastes like pure syrup to me. Also, that's not the point. It's one thing to not serve a sugar free option (although in today's day and age, that's absurd). It's a completely different thing when people completely ignore your medical issues they know nothing about. I don't believe in "The customer is always right," however in the service industry, it's your job to do what you can, within reason, to appease the customer. Making assumptions about what someone can and can't assume is straight up rude. Even as a fellow diabetic, who usually can have a regular pop once in a while, I'd never assume that their body will react the same as mine. That's between them and their doctor, and their close family. -
Bad Dining Experiences

I went to a little diner in a small town once. Not that great of a place, but it was a small town, and the only non fast food place open 24 hours a day. I ordered the chicken nuggets, and my friend got the Buffalo Boneless Wings. They got to the table, and my friend, who paid the same amount as me, had the same thing, it just had some Buffalo sauce. When I asked if I could have some sauce on the side, waitress said no problem. Then when I got my bill, charged me for it. It was only 69¢ (lol), but it was the principle that she didn't tell me there'd be a charge. She was so rude about it, that it was one of the only times I've ever not left a tip. -

This is why he's not HC material. While he knows the X's and O's the HC job requires more than that. While the rumors seem to be true that it was Ralph's decision, someone more fitting for a HC position would have had the guts to make the decision he felt was best for the team. -
Emailed receipts - love ‘em or hate ‘em?

I subscribe to House of Blues email newsletter. It comes in handy because they actually send out bi-weekly emails with free tickets. What I do find annoying, is when I'm just buying one thing, and they want my name, address, email, phone number, SSN, mother's maiden name, and the name of my 3rd grade bully. I'm just trying to buy a Coke Zero, not a car. -

I'm a very picky eater, and I don't eat cheese. There was a restaurant in the same plaza that I worked in, that had a really good hamburger. $5 for a huge burger, and ***** ton of fries. So I order my hamburger with no cheese. It comes out with cheese. I'm not mad, it happens. I politely tell her that I wanted it without cheese. She brings it back, and about five minutes later brings a burger out to me. Of course the first thing I do is take off the bun to check. No cheese. So I start eating, and it tastes funny. Look under the bun, they just scraped some of the cheese off and brought it back to me with the patty faced down. Now, I'm mad. Not only do they not apologize, the cook comes out from the back, and brags about how he did a good job getting most of the cheese off. Walked out refusing to pay. Now, if I came to someones house and they did that, I probably wouldn't be upset. But if I'm paying money for a burger, I expect it cooked exactly as I ordered. I'm not allergic, but if I was, they could have had a huge lawsuit on their hands. -
What horror stories do you have with a bad dining experience? Also, would be interested to hear stories from former waitstaff, bartenders, etc.

Super Bowl Halftime Show
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to vorpma's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I'm not a fan of what the Super Bowl halftime show has been in recent years, I totally get it. I love The Who, GNR, Pearl Jam, etc. Personally, I think AC/DC was made for halftime shows. Fun, energetic band with short songs. That said, the classic rock demographic is most likely already watching the game anyway. So they're playing pop music to get a larger demographic to watch. The only thing that would make the halftime show worth it, is if they played "Moves Like Jagger" and you know who pops out of nowhere. -

I did the "mission" where you take the boy fishing. For some reason, it kept telling me "The fishing rod cannot be equipped here." I moved all around, moved over by my horse, nothing. I closed out of the game, and reloaded it. Did the mission again, and it worked just fine. -
Going to see the Fab Four this weekend. They're probably the best Beatles tribute band I've ever heard. @Gugny saw them. I saw them last year, but wife and I are taking her dad this time.

Ed Oliver dropping to us would be nice, but I don't see it happening. That's mostly my UH fan talking though. -
Trying to think, in any sport, how many head coaches that have elite status, also have that status as a player. The only one I can think of off of the top of my head would be Joe Torre, although his elite status as a player might be questioned. And Yogi Berra, who's elite status as a coach might be questioned.

I've only seen the show a handful of times. But aside from her weight issues, she just seems like a genuinely annoying and awful person to be around, and I don't think getting into shape will fix that. -

With this one, it was a problem of driving into the ditch on the other side of the road. We should definitely not be pr!cks to people who have weight issues, which can certainly be a problem. That said, there's a difference between not shaming someone for weight problems, and just pretending like they're not there. It's not about looks. I read a debate about whether it's appropriate to tell your spouse they should lose weight. Too many people were saying that it's always inappropriate. But it depends the angle you come at them with. If you come at them with, "You're a fat slob, lose weight." Yeah, you'd be an #######. If you come to your wife and say "I love you, and I think you're absolutely beautiful no matter what, but I'm concerned about your health." That's a different story. -

I've been doing that. Also, sometimes random people come up and punch me. Or I legit knock into them by mistake, and they fight me, and it won't let me diffuse. I don't have time for BS, so I usually just pull out my gun and shoot them. Also, I saw a cop chasing a suspect in Saint Denis the other day. I shot the suspect, thinking it would get me in good with the cops, but then the cops came after me. How am I supposed to deal with this situation? -

I should also point out that I understand that realistically, it will never get to the unregulated point I want. At least not any time soon, so I'd settle for a legalize/tax/regulate. Although I think Larry Sharpe said it best. "Hemp and marijuana should be regulated like onions. No difference. If you can grow onion in your backyard, you can grow hemp or weed in your backyard. If you can grow onions in your farm, your family farm, you can grow help or marijuana in your family farm." -
Red Dead Redemption 2

What are good ways to bring up your honor quickly? Mine is really low because when I first started, I enjoyed shooting people just for fun, not knowing there were long term effects. I greet everybody I pass which sometimes seems to help. And started the random side missions with people who are broken down on the road and stuff. -
I think DC is a good fit for Rex. He had a good defensive mind, granted he needs the right roster for his scheme. He just doesn't have what it takes to be a HC, which is something that goes beyond the X's and O's. If he can be in charge of strictly football, and not have to deal with the personnel side of things, he'll be fine. I always thought his problem in New Jersey and in Buffalo was his inability to command respect from his players as their coach/boss, and instead tried to be their friend.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Finally found this yesterday. First thing you gotta do is go up to the basement window. When you're there, you'll hear "Hey mister." Go talk to him. Then go into the gunshop. Hold the gunsmith at gunpoint, but don't shoot him, and he'll unlock the basement for you. Then some messed up stuff goes on, then you can kill him.
