"Parks and Rec" vs "The Office"
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
He was supposed to be a Jim Halpart type character. The normal guy in the room full of crazies. But what makes Jim a good character, is his reaction to what was going on around him. Whether it was his commentary, the way he would just pick his battles with Michael, and go along with the non dangerous stuff, even the way he looked at the camera in a "wtf" moment. Mark didn't have any of that. He was just a very boring character. -

Yeah. Mark Brendanawicz may possibly be the most boring character in the history of sitcoms. He never said anything funny, or really even had much of a personality. -

Has anybody else run into multiple Klan rallies randomly while riding down the trail? By the way, killing a klansman gains you honor. -
What’s your most Controversial opinion?

Well, we don't need a wall. Most of what taxes pay for can be privatized. That's great that you want to help the less fortunate. You doing helping someone, is charitable. Making other people pay for it by force, isn't charity, it's theft. Would I benefit from it, probably. But ethically speaking, it's nobody else's responsibility to take care of my health but me. -

To your Seinfeld point, because we're all sh*tty people deep down inside, so we're laughing at ourselves essentially. To your medicare point, it's simply a question of ethics. Why is anybody entitled to the fruits of anybody else's labor? Be it the doctors who are performing the surgery, or the taxpayers having money forcefully taken out of their paycheck? -
Every year I give it a chance because nothing else is on TV on a Saturday afternoon. Every year it seems like it's a game of hot potato, as neither team has any defense and almost every drive ends in a TD.

That's why Parks and Rec got the slight edge from me. It never really jumped the shark. Can't tell if this is a complaint or compliment. -
Which is your personal favorite?

Songwriting, Lennon/McCartney are #1. The only other duo that would come close, are Elton John and Bernie Taupin, but I still feel they come just shy. John's Rhythm guitar playing is actually quite underrated for what it is. Paul's bass playing was nothing to write home about, but definitely evolved and got better as time went on. George is no Hendrix, but as @Gugny pointed out, he's no CC Deville either. (That made me laugh right out loud.) I'd probably put him somewhere in the top 20-25 though. Ringo held his own. From what I understand about drums, which honestly isn't much, Ringo was a smarter drummer than he gets credit for. He had trouble with executing what was in his head. Vocals, the whole group is good. Ringo is the weakest link, and he's could definitly hold his own on those country tunes. Their voices sounded great together, especially on their early records.

I was nine years old when this happened. I watched in on one of those portable black and white TVs because my babysitter and brother took up the other two. I literally haven't watched it since. That said, his foot was over the line, it was a forward lateral, dead ball, Bud Adams can kiss my ass. -
I don't see the Pacific League even starting, or if so, lasting more than one season. First, they're playing in the LA area only. They're the second biggest city in the nation, and can't support either of their top level pro football teams. Second, what kind of talent are they gonna draw? Even with the promise of a salary, they're not gonna get looked at by scouts even as much as they would at a D-II school. The only way it MIGHT work, is if they allowed them to opt out of collecting a salary, therefore they'd still have amateur eligibility to hopefully be picked up by a NCAA team.

At this point, their audience has matured from just being pubescent girls. Not to mention technology changed so they could do more of their intricate stuff from Sgt Pepper/MMT, etc. that would have never have been able to be done live when the albums first came out.

Do You Still Wear Zubaz?
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I sarcastically told my aunt I wanted a pair for Christmas about five years ago. She didn't pick up on the sarcasm, and I haven't watched a Bills game on TV, at a game, or at a bar without them. They're honestly the most comfortable pair of pants I've ever owned. -
If there's one non self destructive thing our fanbase is known for, it's our affinity for Zubaz in the 20th century. How many here still wear Zubaz on game day? I myself, own three pairs. Get new Zubaz every 2-3 years.

Any chance this league eventually gets a partnership with the NFL that allows younger players with NFL contracts play to develop skills, while still being on their NFL roster?

Some hypotheticals I've thought about. First one. John lives. Do John, Paul, George and Ringo, all get back together at the same time? If so, do they record new material? Do they do a one off world tour and rake in the cash, then go their separate ways? Another hypothetical. Brian Epstein lives. Do the Beatles stay together longer because they can focus on music, having Brian take care of the business end of things? When, if ever, do they start doing live concerts and tours again? I think I asked this before, but John leaves the band. Paul, George, and Ringo decide to keep going on. Do they replace John with Clapton, or someone who's well known? Hold auditions? Do they look for someone that sounds just like John, or go a completely different direction?
-
Nope. First time. I'm super pumped. I literally cried when I opened the gift. Mick and Keith also sang on "All You Need Is Love." and Mick sang backup on "Baby, You're A Rich Man." There's a book I read called "Beatles Vs Stones." Basically the whole book is how they really weren't rivals in each other's eyes, so much as the media portrayed them that way.
-
So I've made it clear here that I'm a bigger Stones fan than The Beatles. Still absolutely love The Beatles, but I'm a bigger Stones fan. So for Christmas, my whole family pooled together and bought me field seats for the Stones concert in April. My wife told me there was some sort of VIP package involved. Not a meet and greet, but commemorative poster and book or something like that, she didn't really remember. So I went online to see what it was. The official website for NRG Stadium (Texans) had a disclaimer on there stating "Paul McCartney will not be performing at this show." Now, as we know, Paul McCartney, in his 60 or so years in the music industry, has never been a member of the Rolling Stones, so I had no reason to suspect that he was playing. But now I'm suspicious. Was this originally planned as a double headline tour/show? Is Paul a surprise special guest (fingers crossed)?

Bad Dining Experiences

I just remembered this one. I was about 14ish. At Old Country Buffet. I'm about to get mashed potatoes. A girl about my age, hoop earrings, and a red South Pole jacket cuts in front of me, looks me dead in the eye, and said "F*** you!" She then proceded to start serving herself mashed potatoes, and walked away. It was the most bizarre thing, and I still think of her to this day. -

Honestly, deleting the history will just make it worse. I don't even click on most of the links you post from my work computer just in case it pops up somewhere. -

That's not neccecarily the best option though. Speaking for myself, when I was job searching, my wife (girlfriend at the time) drove me to about half the interviews. I had a car and transportation, but she liked the excuse to go look around a mall or something on that side of town. -

Brandon Beane letter to Season Ticket Holders

Not gonna lie. Spent the past two seasons just hearing him collectively refered to as McBeane along with Sean, and when I saw Brandon and Letter in the same post, I was so hoping for some sort of apology, or even better, justification from Russ. I have season tickets for University of Houston baseball. This type of thing is sent out a few times a year by email, which costs literally nothing.
