What Superstitions Do You Believe In?
The Real Buffalo Joe replied to Gugny's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My wife latched onto the Bills pretty quickly when we met. Love her new found enthusiasm, but she doesn't have the history of fanhood that we do. I think it was 2017, maybe 2016. Help me out if anybody remembers. We were winning by less than a TD with a second left to go on defense. The other team starts pulling a Music City move on us. She thought it was hilarious. She'd never seen anything like it before. It's not like they'll score. Meanwhile, the rest of the bar is thinking "Oh no! Not this sh!t again!" I had to explain it to her after the game. I let her look it up online, but I haven't watched that play since that day. I literally change the channel or look away every time we play Tennessee. -

I've noticted some players do the opposite, and make a point of stepping on the line coming out. And if you're gonna sing the Shout song, ONLY after a TD. Not a first down, not a sack, not an interception. Cheer, get excited, but save the Shout song for a TD. -

Flutie would still be our QB, and he would have led us to 19 straight Super Bowl championships, had he started that game. -

My favorite episode is when they got authentic Buffalo boneless wings from Applebees®, Cookin' Good in the Neighborhood™. -

I've never seen it, but I have a friend that won't STFU about it. -
TV Shows That Stayed On Too Long

This one might work because It's a completely different concept from trying to stop terrorists. That concept only works when Jack Bauer is present. -
We have the too long thread, great the whole time thread, so I guess it's time to round it out. What shows were cut down in their prime, or before they got a chance to fully develop?

For a while, it was an issue of getting the music rights. That's why there's so many movies about their formation and early days, because they can fill it with them singing 50s rock and roll covers. I had an idea the other day that would be cool if it worked. Make four bio pics, to come out within a year or so apart. Each focusing on the individual Beatle's lives, but the other three guys of course play their respective role in the film.

TV Shows That Stayed On Too Long

It got repetitive. Every single time there was a character that was Muslim and/or Arab, you knew they were there as a red herring. I'm not about to go on a "PC culture" rant, but the fact is, it just wasn't a surprise anymore. I first discovered it when I went on a roadtrip with my parents for a funeral during my senior year of high school. I had a portable DVD player, and we stopped at Target. Season one was on sale, so I bought it just because I'd heard good things. My parents didn't hear a peep out of me the rest of the trip. After that, the show helped me stay in shape during the summer. I had a Blockbuster account, where I paid $12 a month for unlimited rentals, of one disk at a time. So I'd rent one DVD, watch it for three hours. Then I'd get on my bike and ride two miles each way. Did this about two or three times a day. I was reading the original concept for the show was a comedy-drama about the 24 hours leading up to a wedding. One change led to another, and basically the only thing to stay was the real time format. They're talking about doing a different series now. A 24 hour real time format thing again, but this time, it's about a lawyer with 24 hours to prove her client's innocence in the 24 hours leading up to his execution. -

I remember Dwight and Angela got married at the end. The weird thing with Pam and the camera guy. The Baby that was most likely Dwight's. Robert California. Oscar and the congressman. That's about it. -

If they insisted going on after Michael, one more season would have surfaced to wrap up any loose end storylines. -

Can't honestly say I've watched more than ten minutes of Two and a Half Men after Charlie Sheen left. -

The tension between Archie and Mike is what made the show work. After Mike left, it got boring. Although Archie Bunker's Place, while not as classic as AITF, was actually pretty good. -

Should have happened 40 years ago. After the original cast left, the only thing left was Eddie Murphy. Kinda glad they didn't because I liked their resurgence in the 90's. But yeah, it's been mostly suck for 15 years, and I'm being generous with that number. -

The Office should have ended with Michael's departure. It just got weird and slapsticky after that. -

The Andy Griffith Show, with Barney, still makes me laugh hard to this day. After he left, they stopped being about the slapstick humor, and relied on the wholesomeness of a small southern town than it did on actually being laugh out loud funny. It had a few small moments, but if I'm flipping through the channels, and see that Andy Griffith is on in color, I change the channel. Apparently, Don Knotts left over a contract dispute. He even tried coming back, but they wouldn't have him as a regular anymore. Don Knotts was a comic genius. -
What shows were great, but should have stopped while they were ahead. And at what moment did they jump the shark?

They'll take all of his money. He'll be so broke, he'll be working with the catering team, tossing salads at Gillette. I understand that he'll get away with a slap on the wrist. But he SHOULD be put away for life, again, assuming these are sex slaves. Demand creates supply, so morally speaking, he's just as guilty as the people at the top.

As much as I hate the Patriots* (they cheat if you didn't know), other than forcing him to step down, there shouldn't be any direct football ramifications. As terrible as this is, and if the stories that I've read that these women were sex slaves, It's bad. Kraft belongs in jail for life if that's the case. That being said, it's not a football thing. As much as I hate that team, the coaches, players, etc, (most likely) weren't involved. I felt the same way when the NCAA put so many sanctions on Penn State after the Sandusky thing.
