  1. My dad is a Dodgers fan. I've heard this story a million times in my life. I think this is the greatest day of his life, when my brother and I were born are a close 2 and 3.
  2. Going to see your A's tonight for the Astros opener. This is the shirt my wife made me. But I've seen more and more teams go down to more reasonable concession prices. It makes sense. They're finally starting to realize that because of the price, most people= do their eating and alcohol consumption pregame. Either tailgating, or bars/restaurants near the stadium. I think @Gugny once said, if you're walking into the Ralph hungry and/or sober, you're doing it wrong.
  3. This is a good distinction.
  4. These are always so cringy. When it's organic, they can be fun. But when it's done with the intention of going viral, it's bad.
  5. Don't worry. Somebody somewhere in the national media will have something to say, so keep your finger near the trigger.
  6. I was quite upset, but didn't cry. They're still saying it's gonna be rescheduled probably starting in summer. Since it's at an indoor stadium, I'm fine with that.
  7. Nah. But Butcher entered the demolition derby at the ECF one year and used my dad's car. And my dad helped run the South Buffalo Baseball leauge and used his DJ service a few times.
  8. I did. Sad. His time as a bat boy was before my time. But him and my dad were pretty good friends. They worked together for the City sanitation dept, so I'd met him a handful of times when I went to work with my dad.
  9. UH I have general admission season tickets, which technically means I have to sit in the "upper deck" which still isn't that far because the lower deck is six rows of seating, and a small concourse. No balcony or anything. But the generally accepted rule is, sit where you want, just make sure you move if someone has tickets where you're actually sitting. Large souvineer size pop is $7.00. But it comes with a free refill sticker, that they almost never take. I buy one a year, then after the first few games, I take the stickers from the ones that were left behind, so even if they take it, I have backups. So I spend $7 a year on Coke Zero at the park.
  10. I basically lived at Pilot Field growing up watching the Bisons. Saw a bunch of guys who went on to make big names for themselves and sat five feet away, and even talked to some of them. Justin Turner from the Dodgers spent a year and a half there and I talked to him all the time before games.
  11. University of Houston. I get into more than the Astros. Probably because the tickets are cheap. I pay $100 a year for season tickets. And there's only 31 games per year, granted stretched over only four months. But it's not an every night commitment.
  12. My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who knows Poyer's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate, and he says it's real.
  13. Got the company tickets for Astros home opener on Friday. Four rows from right field. Working an extra hour every day this week so I can leave work early for the pregrame festivities. Although being a college baseball fan as well, the season started about a month and a half ago for me. Lol.
  14. Yep. Not much of a basketball fan, but true for Houston football. Tom Herman came in, made us a top 10 school. Then the next year, lost three easy games, all while coincidentally the media was rumoring that he was talking to different schools, which of course he vehemently denied. Football is even worse. You can argue that these schools don't get fair seeding. But in basketball, the difference between a 4 seed and a 5 seed shouldn't be much if you're a legit contender. A 4 seed vs 5 seed in football is the playoff cutoffs. Another problem is scheduling. Alabama would love to take on some barely DI school like Rice, or even Buffalo (no offense to Bulls fans). They know they're gonna kill them, and it's the closest thing to a preseason game they're gonna get. A team like Houston, will probably lose to Alabama. And beating Houston wouldn't do much for their ranking. However, it's not out of the complete realm of possibilities, that Houston pulls the upset, which would kill a team's rating.
  15. I subscribe to the email list of every concert venue in town, which usually have free/discount ticket codes in them. When I can't get a ticket through there, I search every ticket website and make a spreadsheet of which source is the best to buy from. I've been told if you don't think it's gonna be a sellout, a good gamble is to wait until right around game/showtime to get tickets. What do you usually do when buying tickets for concerts, games, etc to find the best deals?
  16. While this is helpful, they technically get commission for a sale when they do that, so it wasn't just out of the kindness of her heart.
  17. If you're okay with the idea of aborting a pregnancy because the fetus tested positive for Down's Syndrome, you have no reason to be upset that the government wants to pull public funding from the Special Olympics.
  18. Are any of these celebrity cruises honestly worth it? Other than the quick photo shoot you get, and the nightly concerts, do they ever really "mingle" with the common folk during the cruise. Or do they stay in their dressing room/VIP area most of the day?
  19. I used to have a boss that made fun of me for being on this site all the time. "It's March! What pressing things can be happening with your Bills this time of year." I'd always joke back "Our owner is in his 90s. Something can happen at any time." Then he saw me just staring blankly at my screen. And I was just like "It happened. I don't know what to do. I took a few hours off of work that day because I felt so sad for losing someone I'd never even met.
  20. I don't mind them having both of them. Shady still has a season or two left in the tank assuming he stays healthy. Gore may be there in the same type of role that Anderson is in as an unofficial player/coach.
  21. Only other question I have is whether or not you took the purple acid.
  22. Just double checked a box of Arm and Hammer in the fridge. Caffeine is not an ingredient.
  23. Just saw another story where the father of a Sandy Hook victim did the same thing.
  24. On a regular day, it's Coke Zero throughout the workday, and not really any once I get home. If I'm starting to get a headache due to lack of caffine, or I'm feeling extra tired, I'll grab a sugar free energy drink. If I'm planning on not getting a full night's sleep, I'll buy some five hour energy shots the night before.
