  1. Let me run with you tonight I'll take you on a moonlight ride There's someone I used to see But she don't give a damn for me But let me get to the point, let's roll another joint And turn the radio loud, I'm too alone to be proud You don't know how it feels You don't know how it feels to be me
  2. Yeah. One of my best friends died about a year ago. We met at work and he was recently divorced, and we both needed roommates at the time, so we moved in together. Reason he was divorced, that despite having three kids and a 15 year marriage with the woman he'd been with since high school, left him for what he considered at the time to be his best friend. He was about 12 years older than me, so I was 20 he was 32ish, with three sons. My friend had genetic heart issues, and after a few months of living together, it got so bad that he had to leave his job. He lost his car not soon after, so the only time he could see his kids on the other side of town, was when I was able to let him borrow my car, because his ex wife refused to drive the kids to our apartment. He eventually sucked up his pride and moved in with his brother who he didn't get along with, simply because he lived closer to his ex wife and kids. When his brother moved out of town, he moved in with his ex and her new husband. All so he could be with his kids. The whole time they were together, he was extremely abusive. Not physically. But was always just saying nasty things about his wife, always getting belligerently drunk or high around the kids. Would randomly just abandon them completely for days or weeks. I never cared much for the guy, and he died of a heart attack about a month or two ago. I hate admitting it, but my first thought was relief for my buddy's kids who didn't have to put up with his bullsh!t anymore. She's been writing these weird letters to him on Facebook every day. Which I guess it's healthy to have a journal of things like that if it helps you cope, but it really should be private, but whatever. Except the other day had me fuming mad. She posted "Hi Honey. I miss you today. I miss you every day. I've always loved you. Ever since high school, but the situation didn't allow us to be together at the time." Yeah, that situation was that you were married to my best friend, and the father of your three sons, who have. Sorry he was such an inconvenience. I still keep in contact with my friends oldest son who's about 20-21ish. He kinda feels the same way I do. Not that we wished death on him, but there is this sense of relief. At the same time, he does feel sympathy for his mom, and his half brother. I'm actually glad you started this thread because I've been holding it in for a while and it feels nice to finally let it out.
  3. Agreed. AC/DC is one of my favorite bands. As far as being a good singer, Brian Johnson has the slight edge. But songwriting, Bon Scott is actually quite underrated. His hits might just be all about sex, drugs, and rock and roll, but look at some of his lesser known hits. Dude was quite a lyricist. Anything on the Powerage album was pure poetry. I found a random guy on Spotify (can't remember his name) that did acoustic covers of Bon Scott AC/DC songs, and if you didn't know better, you'd think they were written to be ballads.
  4. My, my Hey, hey Rock and Roll Is here to stay It's better to burn out Than to fade away
  5. Lady when you're with me I'm smiling Give me all your love Your hands build me up when I'm sinking Touch me and my troubles all fade
  6. t's another lonely evening And another lonely town But I ain't too young to worry And I ain't too old to cry When a woman gets me down Got another empty bottle And another empty bed Ain't too young to admit it And I'm not too old to lie I'm just another empty head That's why I'm lonely I'm so lonely But I know what I'm gonna do I'm gonna ride on Ride on Ride on, standing on the edge of the road Ride on, thumb in the air Ride on, one of these days I'm gonna Ride on, change my evil ways Till then I'll just keep dragging on
  7. I'm not the devil you think that I am It ain't no excuse but I'm just a man . I slipped and I fell it got out of hand but I'm not the devil you think that I am. With no gun held to my head, I got caught up believing in lies that were said. And in a moment of weakness I stumbled and I made my bed.
  8. What goes up must come down Spinnin' wheel got to go 'round Talkin' 'bout your troubles it's a cryin' sin Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel spin
  9. Traffic in the city turns my head around No, no, no, no, no. Backed up on the freeway, backed up in the church, Everywhere you look there's a frown, frown Com, commotion, Git, git, git, gone Com, commotion, Git, git, git, gone
  10. How many of them have "legend" status today simply because they died young. May have been great talents still, but their greatness and importance are over inflated due to their untimely death. Off the top of my head, names I've heard thrown around (not that I neccecarily agree with all of them) are: Kurt Cobain Jimi Hendrix Jim Morrison Hendrix I disagree with 100%. I've heard it argued that he couldn't hold a candle to a lot of the guitarists today. While that may be true, we'll never know what else Jimi had up his sleeve, or what he would have done. Also, anything that people do now a days, was influenced and built off of what Jimi started. Jim Morrison, was overrated. I love the doors, but he really wasn't much of a singer. If the Doors wanted to, I think they could have carried on with a new singer a la AC/DC with Brian Johnson.
  11. Come on, come on, come on, come on Now touch me, baby Can't you see that I am not afraid? What was that promise that you made? Why won't you tell me what she said? What was that promise that you made? Now, I'm gonna love you Till the heavens stop the rain I'm gonna love you Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I
  12. Pour some sugar on me Ooh, in the name of love Pour some sugar on me C'mon, fire me up Pour your sugar on me I can't get enough I'm hot, sticky sweet From my head to my feet, yeah
  13. When the sun comes up on a sleepy little town Down around San Antone And the folks are risin for another day Round about their homes The people of the town are strange And they're proud of where they came Well, you're talkin bout china grove Oh, china grove Another pause. There's so many songs in here that I grew up listening to, and never paid much attention to the lyrics. This thread is making me appreciate how great some of them actually are.
  14. Everybody knows where you go when the sun goes down I think you only live to see the lights of town I wasted my time when I would try, try, try When the lights have lost their glow you're gonna cry, cry, cry
  15. Did you ever see a robin weep, When leaves begin to die? That mean he's lost the will to live, I'm so lonesome I could cry.
  16. So it's ki yi yippie yi yi You long hairs are sure gonna die Our American home was clean till you came And kids still respected the president's name And the eagle still flew in the sky Hearts filled with national pride Then you came along with your drug crazy songs God damit you're all gonna die
  17. Yeah, I'm gonna tell my tale come on, Come on, Give a listen, Cause I was born lonely down by the riverside Learned to spin fortune wheels, and throw dice And I was just thirteen when I had to leave home Knew I couldn't stick around, had to roam Ain't good lookin', but you know I ain't shy Ain't afraid to look a girl, in the eye So if you need some lovin, and you need it right away Take a little time out, and maybe I'll stay Then I got to ramble (ramblin' man) Lord I got to gamble (gamblin' man) Oh I got to ramble (ramblin' man) And I was born a ramblin' gamblin' man.
  18. I was a highwayman Along the coach roads I did ride With sword and pistol by my side Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five But I am still alive
  19. I just bought two tickets to the advanced screening of Rocketman. I really liked the original. Interested to see the reboot. They're making some slight changes to the script for the reboot though. Instead of being about a clumsy astronaut named Fred Z. Randall, it's about a piano player named Elton something. For real though, I just saw Elton live in December, so I'm really excited for this movie.
  20. So no one told you life was gonna be this way ????? Your job's a joke, you're broke Your love life's D.O.A It's like you're always stuck in second gear When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month Or even your year, but I'll be there for you (When the rain starts to pour) I'll be there for you (Like I've been there before) I'll be there for you ('Cause you're there for me too)
  21. My groomsmen and I walked down the aisle to this song. I didn't even know that was a thing. So they asked me the day before and I didn't have anything in mind. So I was just like "F*** it, play Waylon."
