  1. The world adopted China’s solution to the problem China caused — enforced shutdown. Whether this virus is a bio-weapon is irrelevant. Natural or man-made, it does to people what it does. One difference in results is that the Western World doesn’t enforce mandatory shutdowns with military patrols and guns. Nor should they. And their citizens don’t usually gobble up the remedy without questioning it, but they did. And now the decisionmakers are afraid of their own shadow. This policy painted everyone into a corner.
  2. I disagree on that one. For me, I’d say Inspector Luger on Barney Miller.
  3. Yes, deppity Fife, this thread is where all the dog whistles are kept.
  4. Yep. It happens a lot to perennial winners who are starting the decline. If they're mediocre, it will be fun to watch.
  5. We'll be blowing out the Chiefs. It will be okay to switch over during commercials.
  6. I like to take either a cooked patty or a link or two - split lengthwise, and put it in a small amount of leftover tomato sauce with sautéed peppers and onions, maybe some mushrooms (not necessary at all) in a sauce pan on the stove. Leave it on low for a little while to thicken up the sauce. I add a pretty fair amount of crushed red pepper and a bit of extra black pepper to get the sauce and peppers/onions to a good hot flavor. Toast a roll or some thick slices of Italian bread and make a sandwich out of it. Add mozzarella or sprinkle on some parmesan or romano cheese.
  7. wow! that looks like a lot of damage for hitting a person. I guess that metal is pretty thin and light.
  8. This is actually your third time NOT answering... I told you what his announced plan was -- though Trump didn't actually announce it, as BuffaloHokie pointed out yesterday. The details came from DHS. You responded that it was up to Trump to come up with specifics. There was a plan, it was specific. You can't even say that you don't like the plan. You just say that you don't like Trump. You can't get past your hatred of Trump to actually talk about anything in detail. You stop at hating Trump. That's no way to go about life. As for any alternative to a plan that existed, you beat around the bush. Why don't you just say that people should have been forced into mandatory locations to be quarantined upon their return from Europe? You strongly imply that as an alternative. Where would this occur? How would people get fed? What about loved ones who depend upon the quarantined? What about providing hygiene and pharmaceutical medicines? Who pays for all that? Who coordinates all that? Only a Trump-hater would want mandatory quarantines, so there's something else to hate Trump for. You don't want to discuss that. You just say, it is up to Trump. Well is WAS up to Trump, and he made his decision. You don't seem to care about it because you won't even discuss the details of that. You just want to point out that Trump is awful and that you hate him and he's killed people because ha's more interested in himself than assisting people. What a positive outlook you've cultivated for yourself! Just to cut you off at the pass, so to speak -- I criticize Trump when he deserves it, so please refrain from calling me "stupid" or "evil", as is your wont.
  9. @Kemp you still didn’t answer. Your answer, so far, was: (a) Trump mentioned a plan (no details given) (b) (after hearing details) people weren’t going to follow his plan My question, if as you say people aren’t going to self-quarantine, still stands. It is the same question I asked when you first brought this up much earlier today: What quarantine plan should have existed?
  10. I know five people who were in Europe at the time Trump made his announcement regarding The travel ban. The plan was to have people self-quarantine for 14 days. Everyone who came in. I don’t recall anyone ever objecting to this plan to test and quarantine. They went through homeland security screening before customs on Sunday March 15th. This was at JFK airport. Why test anything if people went straight to self-quarantine for 14 days? What would have been the purpose of that. The test given to asymptomatic people was, at that time, to measure their temperatures. People with obvious symptoms were swabbed. But even if it was a swab test for everyone, everyone who came in was supposed to self-quarantine. The plan also was to have someone from the government call to check up on people to ensure compliance. I’m not aware whether that actually took place. Nobody followed up on anyone of the five I know. If you’re saying that there was a plan to force people to quarantine anywhere other than their home, I’ve never heard that. If that was the plan, I’m pretty sure a LOT of people would have been talking about it. In any event, you complain about a plan that you don’t provide details about. What, exactly is your complaint? You’re just complaining for the sake of it?
  11. You’re talking about hydroxychloroquine too. The first time I heard about it was from a report out of France. That was before Trump ever mentioned it. Boston hospitals were widely using it, and I think Arizona, too. India wouldn’t initially sell it to the US because they wanted as much as they could get for their Covid treatments. Are all these docrors, hospitals, countries also similarly motivated? These questions ^^^^^^.
  12. Funny, I gravitated straight to “unnamed witness” . It is an FBI agent, but now I’m distracted with dinner.
  13. Methinks there’s going to be a LOT of this.
  14. You didn’t answer my question from earlier today... And in relation to the post you made which I’m quoting here, I’d like to let you know that hydroxychloroquine is used worldwide for a few purposes, and has been used for a long time. Seems like you’re treating it as though it is a new drug. If doctors don’t know how to properly prescribe it and which patients are able to receive it without complication, then who’s to blame? Whether is is effective at treating Covid-19 is up in the air, but worrying about side effects should be a small, low hurdle.
  15. You’re right. If he had overruled the schitty and corrupt advice of his former counsel, he could have been exonerated a year ago.
  16. We have seen Trump’s style on display for 3.5 years now. We have all been able to cringe when the time is right. And we have all seen that his words and message delivery and style don’t always match up with the actions of his administration. If you think Trump makes uninformed decisions then I’d have to disagree with you. Maybe that’s another major failure of Trump’s leadership style that Clark left out: the impression that Trump is acting solely based on his own thoughts without input from anyone else. That’s just untrue, but people believe it all the time.
  17. I wonder whether Judge Sullivan will just grant the Govt’s motion without any elaboration, or whether he will issue a decision with any sort of detail. I was looking forward to a decision on Flynn’s motion.
  18. I read it. I was expecting him to have made suggestions regarding testing, tracking, treatments, developing vaccines. I was also expecting him to propose some reasonable plans toward restarting the economy. Aren’t those things important issues toward taking control of this crisis? The article was absolutely none of that. It was simply a critique of Trump’s leadership style. Some of what he said is right, but do we need more critiques of leadership style? Or do we need solid plans to deal with the virus while at the same time opening up society? And I noticed that Clark had two “fourth” points. He should proofread himself better if he is going to publish an opinion.
  19. I’ve heard, actually, that the MTA reduced the train schedule, meaning that more people would have had to crowd into the trains. I’m not 100% certain if that’s true. I will try to find something to back it up. As it is now, thousands of homeless people have moved below ground and are making the system even more difficult to use. The police are busy enforcing distancing regs and aren’t able to cope with subway patrolling. https://thechiefleader.com/news/news_of_the_week/mta-covid-19-death-toll-mounts-as-even-reduced-service-suffers/article_662dd09a-75e5-11ea-a79a-9fc674726750.html There’s an article regarding the unintended consequence (overcrowding) of reducing subway service in response to reduced demand.
