I just wonder how having at least 5 teams that want to trade back will affect the value of what the Bills (or any of the teams trading back) can get in return.

The Bucs just did the Jets a huge favor by taking Revis off their hands. High paid and coming off an injury. Also, the way to counter Revis' presence is to use tight ends and a good slot receiver. That's one of the reasons why Pettine's defense relied heavily on safeties. As for screwing up our draft day, I can't think of one team with more holes in their roster than the Jets - they're easily worse off than the Bills. What position are they "set" at?

Very little worked well last year with this team. Now the coaching staff is new and they're bringing change; new schemes, different players and existing players in different roles. Whether any of that turns out to be good or bad remains to be seen, but in any event there's no reason to dwell on the misery of last season. If nothing had changed then I would agree that there would be no reason for optimism. If someone wants to wait until the season starts before making a judgment, that's fine - but to crap on our chances in April is lame. Practice is important in a team sport and if the players are pumped, so much the better.

Wouldn't you want to look at periennally successful teams before you analyze the Bills' roster? What if you found out that they have a lot of free agents and recent draft picks?

Well, it seems as though that could be said for a number of positions on this team right now (WR, TE, LB, QB, OL, not in any particular order). It will be very interesting to see what the new staff thinks by the way they draft. I think Brooks will be good at Safety - giving them 3 right now. He came out as a safety. It seems as though he has good ability to make an interception, and he also appears to like to hit by what I saw on special teams.

FWIW, the Bills website has Ron Brooks listed as SS. I'm not sure how they had him listed last season, but that's where he is now. That being said, I can still see them drafting a Safety in a later round, or draft a CB and move Williams to Safety.

Seems to me that the Jets' QB situation is a lot like ours: a starter who nobody wants or trusts, a backup who nobody thinks is much better than the starter, hoping that a kid comes along in the first round that is better than the other two guys that suck, and a new system coming into place that nobody knows will work with any of the QBs.
