  1. It is like a funeral because the team plays without spirit and without heart -- like a corpse. The boos are because normally anyone can attend any funeral for free. The people who show up to this particular funeral actually paid to get in and they didn't expect to be attending a funeral.
  2. That's a rough "loss". To come from two goals back and take the lead with 8 minutes left in the third stings. This is the part of the schedule where points can be had. They had an opportunity to take 2 and leave their opponent 0, but the three point game shows up and the Sabres only come away with 1. Not going to make any headway in the standings with results like that.
  3. The better questions is: who are the fresh apples that are going to replace the rotten apples? Seems like this organization has a tough time picking out the produce.
  4. Dear Diary, They're obviously going to offer me the HC job. I'm not going to take it, though. My agent is telling me that Woody Johnson is waiting for the end of the season to bring me in. I'm gonna go to NYC and kick Mehta's ass!
  5. Yep. Football "gossip man" is one of the best jobs in America. Total job security and no accountability.
  6. Getting there is part of the fun -- as long as you get a feeling that progress is being made and see the results. I don't always agree with the moves the front office or the coach make, but that's also part of being an interested and active fan. The noise will come back to that building with results. The first quarter of this season was a washout with the big injury and bad results. For the past few years there's been nothing at all to cheer for. As a fan, you knew that nearly none of the players on the team were part of the future. Now there is a core that this team is being built around and that's a start.
  7. It's time I should finally start attending Monday morning football meetings: Billsfan Anonymous.
  8. I was '82-'83 and I went back to look at what came out then. What a musical desert. I now know why I can't answer this question. I would ride my bike to Record Exchange and buy albums that were already 4-10 years old. Ramones, Clash, The Jam. The newest thing I owned in "82 was Tattoo You.
  9. You're right. He makes a ton of difference. It is just frustrating that he makes the difference between bottom-of-the-conference to having a shot at #8 seed. Imagine if he came back and provided a spark to an otherwise competent team. The depth is lacking and even when nearly whole, they need an upgrade at 4 forward positions and 2 defense. Last night they showed that their forward lines can keep pressure on a pretty soft Rangers, no touch, defense. If they can all stay on the ice together for an extended stretch of games then they can do good things. It looks like the top two lines are going to need some time to adjust to each other. The most effective line continues to be Larsson's line because Bylsma's keeps them together every game. Getting Bogosian and Kulikov back might keep me from holding my breath every time the opposing team crosses the blue line.
  10. The Rams might beat them before Miami gets to them. Brady's on a bad knee and their offensive line isn't too great.
  11. I loved the play-by-play. Well done. I wonder if that damage will show up on the car fax report?
  12. I like the way Deslauriers plays and I've been looking forward to his return for this reason. To me, he is an NHL player. Maybe he plays a small role, but an upgrade is an upgrade. And to me, a good 4th line makes a big difference between a mediocre team and a competitive team.
  13. I'm not sure how you're looking at it but as of today, .333 win % of all games. If you take out OTlosses, then .437. They have to jump 6 teams and are 6 points out of the #8 spot. There's plenty of time and there's bees a lot of key injuries, but the team didn't step up in Eichel's absence.
  14. Both Justin Houston and Von Miller were individual nightmares last night for their respective teams. Each of them caused a lot of problems for the other team's offense. The final score was 30-27 in overtime. Mack will wreck a bunch of plays. Expect it. He won't be the reason why the Bills win or lose.
  15. I'm not digging that compact. The Constitution wasn't set up for a straight democracy. We have us a representative democracy. Those states that want to go with the compact should get together and petition Congress for an amendment -- do it the right way. I don't think anything should be changed, but if anyone wants to change anything, the better solution is to group the electors by congressional district and have the electors vote according to the winner of the popular vote in their own district. The two senate electors can put in for the statewide winner of the popular vote. I've been trying to find the election results reported by congressional district, but can only find county-by-county. If I had to guess the NYS result by this method, then I think Trump would have gotten 15 electoral votes and Clinton 14. As it is now (and would be if that compact gets adopted), NYS was a non-issue in the election.
  16. Yes. Now the Bills are trailing in the all-important "style points" tiebreaker thanks to that win. I'm so pissed.
