  1. Nailed that one, though he kept them in the game during the first period (customary slow start).
  2. Then they should have done it already. If this is accurate then it just makes the owners look worse.
  3. Scroo "people". It's like when "people" make cracks about my degenerate loser booze-hound brother. They may be right, but they're not allowed to. Only I am.
  4. Maybe I'm one of them. It isn't holding the puck that's the issue. It is what he does with it after he decides to let it go. He usually isn't dispossessed often, so you will see him pass or shoot. He seems to like to shoot high and so if he misses there's little opportunity to gather a rebound. He seems to need better vision when he's carrying through the neutral zone, which makes him need to hold the puck longer. His passing when the play is established in the offensive zone is great.
  5. I do understand what you're saying, but there's a line between letting him freewheel and having him fit into a structured style of play. It is a fine line to be sure and I see both sides of the thinking. Hockey doesn't lend itself to having one player exist outside of the general scheme. It is difficult to have everyone play one way -- except the special talent. I also get it that he's a 19-year-old and he is damn good. Good enough to allow him some leeway. But he's got to back check and he's got to play smarter in the offensive zone and if nobody is reminding him of these things then he may still need refinement when he's coming off his rookie contract and the debates will begin.
  6. Nice game tonight. I didn't expect anything from that lineup. The Rangers came out flat and never recovered from getting totally outplayed in the first period (and most of the rest of the game). Before the game started I figured that if Lundqust started then the Sabres would have a chance. In reality though the Rangers defense left their goalie hanging out to dry on at least two goals (Bailey and Eichel). It was the first time I saw them play in person this season. Eichel needs some polish. I don't know who's coaching him to hold the puck too long and to shoot from anywhere and everywhere. I don't mind that thinking for a talented 19 year old, but there's got to be a little more savvy in his game. If not then he needs a winger who can crash the net on every shift and mop up rebounds. He also needs to back check with more effectiveness. Nilsson played a nice game. Grant's open ice hit on Vesey was clean and hard. Good game. I wish they could come out with that effort more often.
  7. #1: My only thought is that whoever agreed to pay an injured quarterback is a moron. #2: Let's see what competent coaching can do -- assuming they get a competent coach and coordinators. Bring as many free agents back as they can is my take -- except EJ and of course Harvin and Bush who shouldn't be in the conversation. I like Gilmore and think he's much better than people give him credit for, but he's not worth top 5 money, so cut him loose if he wants to get paid that way. I'd even bring back Goodwin (unless they think Listenbee can easily replace him). #3: The fact that the Bills have swung from 3-4 to 4-3 and back and forth for the past several schemes angers me more than anything else they've done. Complete stupidity that spans owners and head coaches and GMs and on and on. I don't want to type any more about this because my blood is starting to boil. #4: I'd like to see one more year out of Kyle Williams, but if the Bills need his money to improve in other areas then so be it. #5: Can't talk about the draft yet until we see which Defensive genius wants to change the scheme again. Drafting that Clemson QB won't happen unless the team trades picks to get up, and they don't need him anyway if they keep Tyrod. I don't trust Whaley to get this right. He can't pick a QB. He has trouble finding OLine help. He's made a fair amount of good moves in other areas, but he's bad at choosing personnel where it counts most. He also was the idiot who brought back that loser Lee and he let the coaching staff get so bloated that it actually seemed to cause game-day confusion.
  8. They couldn't find anyone better and imploded. Are you saying they should have gone with a worse option and not imploded?
  9. Maybe while he was leaning he reinjured it to the point of requiring surgery?
  10. Does Bylsma just pull names out of a hat to make out his roster? I get it with injuries and players coming in and out of the lineup, but he tinkers way too much. It's like he hasn't figured out his own roster after nearly a season and a half and he's making himself look clueless. I'd hate playing for him.
  11. The short one or the one in the plaid shirt?Edit: the photographer.
  12. I was at Bills/Jets today. I usually take the train there. Not today. Literally found a spot in the second row at 1:00. The place was subdued to say the least. I took my youngest (9) for his first NFL game. He said that he had a great time but it would've been 1,000 times better if the Bills won. The only thing I could think to say was "no sh**, Sherlock" so I just kept my mouth shut.
  13. Didn't you say that already a couple hundred posts back? By your reasoning, it should be easy for Tyrod to improve from 31st, right?
  14. I'd bet it happens a lot when two teams play a meaningless week 17 game.
  15. Not a fan of O'Brien. I think his offense is no good and he's making personnel decisions (not a Whaley fit). No thanks.
  16. I was mainly responding to your statement that the Bills can better use their draft picks to go get Romo and Watson. I disagree. I also want to make it clear that I don't particularly like Tyrod's style of play and I don't want to see Watson because he will be a younger version of a QB style that I hate. But even so, with Tyrod under center, the Bills put up points and can continue to do so next year and the following year. I think they should keep him, use him as a bridge or see him improve, and improve the rest of the pieces which need to be improved.
  17. Peaking in talent? They need three offensive linemen and two safeties. I'd say they need another tight end and wide receiver too. A true nose tackle would be nice. All that presumes that Lawson and Ragland play well next year and they keep Gilmore and KWilliams can still keep up his play. Aside from that, you're saying that Tyrod is holding them back?
  18. Romo won't make it through the season without a serious upgrade to the o-line. Trading for him will cost draft picks that the Bills need so bad. What are you trading to get up to Watson, because he's likely to go before the Bills pick? Trading up will deplete draft picks that the Bills need so bad. If you go with Watson (because I'm presuming that Romo will get injured early) then why is he a better option thanTyrod? He's basically the same player who has zero NFL experience. Cardale isn't close to being ready, and he won't be close by the end of next season. Your plan is equivalent to blowing up next season. Keeping Taylor and drafting his replacement is a better option for next season. Upgrading the defense and not losing 4 games to the Dolphins and Jets would be a better plan.
  19. I want to see the Bills win the division every year and the playoffs will sort themselves out.
