  1. Agree. They're gassing up the boat and getting the ramp into position.
  2. That article isn't clear. Is the Senate re-confirming his rank or are they confirming his fitness for a position that they normally have no say over? Seems like the former because the article says that he can get around the process if he either retires or bounces himself down in rank by declining to participate (I obviously doubt he does either of those things).
  3. He already cruised through. National Security Advisor does not need to be confirmed by anyone.
  4. That's a really odd take. Why wouldn't you want him to win here to prove doubters wrong?
  5. Would be great to get two - even if it comes in overtime, since Chicago isn't in the conference. This team hasn't shown an ability to sustain success. I'm hoping they play all out at home in their last game before their break. They didn't show up in the last game before the all-star break, maybe they learned a lesson in that. The next test will be to see how they come out of the break. Most teams have lost coming off their "bye week".
  6. Socialism's fatal flaw is that in order to sustain it, governments have to resort to totalitarianism. Because the vast majority of people won't voluntarily stick to the system.
  7. Not to mention trying to create offense from behind the opposing team's net - which puts even more pressure on their weak defense once the other team gets possession and manages a relatively easy breakout.
  8. 6 pts out in November, 5 pts out today. They're 6 out of third place in the division with (I believe) fewer teams to jump over. But the schedule doesn't allow for enough in-division games to make up ground. Playoffs with this schedule and points format are a very long shot. Borderline pipe dream. Even if you look at the Islanders and the Bruins recent good fortune, they really haven't made any stunning moves in the standings. As for trade talk -- I'd wait until the off season except for a guy like Gionta, who has played well and has an expiring contract. There's too much uncertainty with the Las Vegas team in the mix. Rather see which teams expose what players and see who moves and who doesn't.
  9. What are you doing with Gilmore? Is Keyvon Webster intended to be his replacement?
  10. Last time, the Bills unwillingness to spend on a bridge (Fitzpatrick) led to Kolb, EJ, Cassel, and Orton - not to mention Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel. Fun times!
  11. I'll have you know that we've been beaten by better teams than yours.
  12. Two movie plots come to mind: Soylent Green and Wall-E.
  13. Artificial intelligence. Kill them and replace them with robots.
  14. If I'm a team that thinks Cleveland is trading out because of this, then I'm offering less for the pick.
  15. Am I missing something? Nobody is reporting that the Bills actually asked Tyrod to take a pay cut, are they? Is this even a story? And of course he'd say no. I don't think the team is stupid enough to even approach him with something so obvious. He will get at least the same amount of dollars from some other team. Hell, the Jets paid Fitzpatrick around $13 million last season. Osweiler is getting $19 million.
  16. A big part of life is about having expectations managed.
  17. You (plural?) touched a nerve a long time ago. It would be dishonest of me to say otherwise. I started with humor a few pages back but you obviously don't understand humor or irony or sarcasm (and I''m the one who's stupid) or why I come to TSW or PPP or OTW. That's okay, maybe you will figure it out someday. I am thankfully not like you -- thank God almost nobody is like you.
  18. Every post is a contribution, jackass. Even yours. You can wipe your ass with my contributions and I'll continue to wipe my ass with yours.
  19. I just finished reading that decision. That's was transparent judicial elasticism at its finest. What a crock of crap. I'm not expressing an opinion on the administration's policy or how it was implemented. It does look like Trump's legal team vomited on itself, but that fact shouldn't permit the Court from making up crap just to take advantage of its own self-interest (and I'm not even saying that it is a politically-motivated decision). The court was deciding a motion to reinstate the ban. They went out of their way to say that the States' marginal standing claim has merit "at this stage" of the proceeding. The logic they used to support standing to argue for the citizens of seven foreign countries is stupid. They say that Washington and Minnesota can argue on behalf of their State University faculty and students and their families affected by the ban. Okay, fine, but then the court could have/should have restored the ban to only State University students and faculty -- not EVERYONE. Later, they say that the 5th amendment protects "individuals" even who don't reside here and aren't green card holders, but who hold visas. How then does that apply to Syrian refugees who have no such status. Huh? How does that follow? They went out of their way to say that their decision is only really in effect until the appeal of the district court order is decided and "at this stage" it appears that the government doesn't have a winnable case on the merits. The court's reasoning and logic was flimsy and disengenuous at best. It seems pretty clear that they don't care because their self-interest had to be to get the spotlight off of them for the time being. Checks and balances are one thing (and one thing I was hopeful for no matter who won the election in November) but one branch can't make s**t up just to exercise restraint on another. That's abuse and it's lame and it is especially lame when courts do it.
  20. Wait. Do I have to read this thread to know what's in it?
  21. A little bit nuts does not disqualify her in the hot/crazy scale. Not even close.
  22. Cleveland Browns braintrust: "Lee's a perfect fit for what we are trying to accomplish".
  23. Wow. What a total Joke. God bless the guy, he keeps getting jobs.
