  1. I don't know what they're going to do with him. I'm sure there's a lot of Jet fans and Giant fans who are scratching their heads. Giants had better hope that Eli keeps his games played streak alive for the whole length of Geno's contract.
  2. Why???? That's one bad move by the Giants right there.
  3. Partisan or not, nobody gives a crap about precedent. Nobody looks down the road. Nobody realizes that there's political karma. Depressingly stupid.
  4. A lot of religions agree on issues of morality. In fact, a lot of non- religious individuals take the same morality stances on many issues. Many laws and regulations are morality based. Just because one faith or another agrees with a law and voices their opinion doesn't necessarily mean that they control the agenda.
  5. Wow, I came here to post whether my political views have changed over time and read through this thread -- which lurched sideways into the religion-hater's ditch a few pages back. People of any faith don't deserve to be mocked, and they shouldn't need to be defended. To think otherwise is thoroughly lame.
  6. I thought I'd have to play-in from the "tinfoil hat 4". Glad I didn't have to expend any extra energy.
  7. So we only disagree about Saison and Session beers then? Excellent. Safe travels.
  8. Well I did hedge and say Foligno is good there for now, until they upgrade him. [ name=JohnC" post="4288363" timestamp="1489520046]Where I have a slightly different view with you is that I want players on Jack's line who can convert his brilliant passes. Kane playing with Jack makes more sense to me. In addition, when there are rushes Evander is one of the few players who can keep up with him in an end to end rush. I understand your preference for Foligno to be a protector. I'm fine with that role for him now but I still think that a more proficient scorer will serve Jack better. I like Okposo with O'Reilly. They seemed to be in sync and play at a similar pace. I think Nylander is small and young and will need another year in the AHL. As for hockey talk, I'm on Long Island and in Brooklyn. I have a lot of NYR debates with the locals, but I like coming here. Sabrespace is where the real hockey brainiacs are (speaking for myself only).
  9. I would never have said this before the season started, but Foligno is one of the few players presently on the roster who you'd want on a line with Jack and Sam. You need someone who can muck around in the corners to maintain offensive zone possession. Sam does well in the slot and Jack seems to like the perimeter. Foligno is also good protection for the stars. I also see that his attributes translate to the third or fourth line (the most consistent line early in the year was the third line of Foligno, Gionta and Larssen) but until they get an upgrade for Foligno, I think he's most helpful in that spot. You could put Kane there, but his goal scoring is better served on a different line, to spread out whatever goal scoring threats the team has. Kane should do just fine with O'Reilly and Okposo.
  10. Out on Long Island we got only about 5 or 6 inches of snow overnight and then it quickly turned to an inch or two of rain. For the first time ever I had to take a break from shoveling. It is like going to the beach during a steady rain -- right down to the water's edge -- and digging wet sand with a snow shovel. Break time is over. Back to work.
  11. I honestly don't know if it is open or closed. I haven't been that way in years. Next time I'm in town, I will get over there again.
  12. I loved record theatre on Main Street. It was my go-to place at least once a week from the time that I got my driver's license through college. I didn't have to buy anything. It was good to browse the stacks.
  13. There's been so many good things said in this thread. My oldest kid suffers from anxiety and depression. She initially had a very hard time identifying, and then dealing with it. We have had so many discussions about it, and my message to her has always been that there will be people in her life that want to help, whether she knows it or not. She doesn't have to open up to get help, just seek an open ear. At the outset of her diagnisis and treatment (when she was feeling like less than a real person) I told her to look at it the same way as though she had any other chronic illness. It isn't any different than that in essence. People initially don't see it that way.
  14. Gorges-Franson third d pairing... So slow, they should never cross their own blueline. Too bad about Larssen's injury. I thought he was coming around this season. You'd think Gionta isn't a fit on the top line, but Kane and he have played well together every time they've been put together. Moulson shouldn't be on the second line with Jack and Sam. At the beginning of the season, I wanted Foligno gone but he's improved into a fairly useful wing. Wouldn't mind seeing him stay on the Jack/Sam line.
  15. Just poured myself a scotch. Everyone else is in bed. I just finished getting ready for the snow tomorrow. Now I'm relaxing to some music and I'll probably drink a beer after this and call it off. The older I get, the more drinks I can handle. And though I and others thrive when I'm alone, drinking too much when I'm alone is not something I want to do very often. Usually I drink on Fridays and Saturdays, but I know I'm not doing anything tomorrow but shoveling snow, watching a movie with my kids, and having friends over for dinner.
  16. Brooklyn Lager is my go-to these days. That and Sierra Nevada. On a hot summer day, I like a good Coors (not light) or PBR. When I travel I try the local fare, usually sticking to a pale ale. Never wheat, never something that needs a slice of citrus.
  17. I'm still waiting for Buddy Nix's baby. That was 10 years into the drought, and seven years, two owners, a couple GM's and four coaches ago. That's a lot of "culture change".
  18. There are some in this thread who hope that it is pointed at the visiting GM. Have a good time at the game. Go Sabres!
  19. Hot take / advice: Lurk before you leap.
