  1. Thank you (honestly) but we don't need "explanations" in this thread.
  2. Must...kill...the Queen.
  3. Ninth Circuit - 2 Trump Travel Ban - 0 The President had the authority to issue the Executive Orders in both cases, and neither Order was technically worthy of being thwarted by the Ninth Circuit.
  4. True, and I've seen a lot of cases where the player turns away from the hit and into the boards to try to draw a penalty. So cleaning up the issue might also have the unintended consequence of adding to cases of self-inflicted injury.
  5. First 100 days: --despicable judicial activism --worst republican leadership ever --liberals' prolonged temper tantrum --idiot president Wheeeeee!!!!!! Thank you sir, may I have another.
  6. Maybe it is just me getting older, but I like the larger font and line spacing. Thanks for that. I agree with you that choosing a head coach is a crap shoot. I'm holding onto my opinion of McDermott until after the season is over.
  7. Yet still a difficult team to put away...
  8. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Bills-Today-Whaley-to-spearhead-coaching-search/4358c0f4-45e3-4c6e-bd60-731eb660b142 How can anyone be optimistic when the owner fired his head coach after two miserable years when most of the fanbase knew what a colossal mistake it was to hire him in the first place? THEN the owner decides that the GM would spearhead the HC replacement search (a real cutting-edge idea that one). THEN after the GM finds a suitable replacement, the owner minimizes the GM's role and lets him twist in the breeze for three months only to fire him hours after the draft. A draft that the owner says was put together by the fired GM. THEN there's talk about hiring the new HC's buddy to be a replacement GM. Does McDermott have a fat twin brother somewhere who can be the co-head coach? I'm usually optimistic until the season is officially over in late October. Maybe McDermott will bring more than platitudes and a businesslike attitude. Let's see it on the field. I'm sick of the crappy ownership decisions so far. If this team is successful, it will be so only by overcoming the shitshow at the top.
  9. Didn't hear the anthem, but this second period is fantastic.McDavid has the Oilers flying.
  10. I wasn't going to read it and you had to post this. Maybe he actually could care less.
  11. Three key words: awkward, clunky, skeptical. I don't trust the process if Pegula is at all involved in it.
  12. Probably the only way to get a decent meal, if reports are true.
  13. I'm not sure what the standard of living for the masses in the North is, but if reports are accurate, I think "stable" and "subsistence level" are probably interchangeable. Ever notice that you almost never see photos of regular N Koreans? Mainly you only see their relatively better-fed military. Best case scenario was (a long time ago) to have done our damndest to pry open the hermetically sealed information dome that the regime places over their people and give them a little sunlight and vision of what the rest of the world lives like. Either that ship sailed, or it is completely impossible to inform people on a basic level what their lives are live vs. what their lives should be like. I doubt the South could handle unification without major aid. I think China would have a really hard time dealing with a collapsed North, too. I think the silver lining in this recent conflict is the fact that what to do with the North can't be solved without China's involvement without millions losing their lives -- and that's what will drive everyone to tamp down the flames. I can't believe I'm saying it, but too bad the UN sucks so badly. Some effective overarching institution could actually be helpful. Edit: Either all that drivel, OR China is actually driving all this conflict and can shut it down when the see fit. Their motivation is to get the West to keep the economic stability and to make sure they're not labeled "currency manipulators".
  14. Yep. He played well, but I wasn't a fan of him. Didn't like him in Colorado before he got to Buffalo, or when he was with NYR either. And I recognize that I've really got no good basis for this.
  15. I've always disliked Chris Drury. I doubt I will change my mind on that.
  16. Points given for his resolve. Deductions for his taste in beer.
  17. WGAS what this idiot said or did. Let's see him play. And I'd say the same thing if he were a Bills' pick. He's a frikkin kid. Who cares.
  18. How do you account for philanthropy and charitable donations and private groups who administer programs in their particular interest? People economically vote (for lack of a better way of putting it) in this way, too, by spending extra income and time toward these endeavors. They choose what interests them. Higher taxes and governmental control over these matters is less efficient and would stifle this large segment of the economy, no? I'm of the opinion that individuals want to say where their resources go and not have a governmental agency take that choice away. I don't believe that socialism is inevitable because there are other proven ways of administering social programs. I think you're right in observing that this is the direction our federal government is heading, and has been for 200 years. In 1800 there were 4 cabinet positions. In 1900 there were 8, and today I think the number is 24. Not the way I prefer it to be, but obviously the trend it to identify a social issue and then create a whole Administrative arm of government to eff it up.
