  1. Growing pains, I suppose. China doesn't seem to like Bitcoin. http://www.bbc.com/news/business-41276348
  2. Ever since I clicked on the banana slicer link, and the lazy cat owner lazer pointer link, every website I visit has ads from Amazon trying to sell me these items. I don't typically shop online, these are the only two items I've ever viewed on Amazon.
  3. She's an innovative conservationist, reducing her CO2 emissions. This is part of her 2020 platform.
  4. Nope. They suck. I hope our country twists their nuts in ways I will never know about.
  5. I'm psyched up big time. I have no idea why, however. I will enjoy it while it lasts.
  6. I don't know why, but I can't generate any anticipation for Nylander now or in the future. I look forward to being wrong.
  7. That tungsten meteor shower doesn't sound like a good idea in practice. Who came up with that, Lucy Ricardo?
  8. Looks like the keymaster and the gatekeeper have located each other.
  9. I will be happy if they win week 1. I will be impressed if they win week 2.
  10. Uh oh. Bad news for the whales... https://cosmosmagazine.com/biology/do-solar-storms-lead-to-beached-whales
  11. We actually don't know how this running scheme will work, since it isn't the same as the previous two years.
  12. "Truth hurts" cuts both ways. I'm usually one of the more optimistic fans at this time of year. Not this year. This season will be rough and I'll be mixing lots of liquor into my kool aid. To me, the WCO fit issues with Tyrod and the blocking scheme changes on the offensive line will make both the passing game and the running game worse (and that's with a healthy Glenn, which isn't a given). I'd say that on defense, the 4-3 is better for the line and Preston Brown. They also seem to have upgraded the safeties, but the entire defense has very limited depth. As for special teams, Crossman is still the coach and it seems as though there's a penalty on 80% of kickoff and punt plays - not good. The best that can be said for McDermott and Beane at this point is that they wasted no time wiping off the prior regime's fingerprints. They seem confident that their process will work. We will find out who's truth hurts more once we watch the games.
  13. We should stop engaging NKorea all together, but if we do, it would be better to act first and then say "enough WAS enough". Before that, it probably would also be better to quietly press China hard with sanctions and to stop dealing with their banks until they stop laundering NKorean money. Also tell them that if it gets bad enough then we are going in and moving the dmz north to their border. There's no sense in trying to reason with the little fat nut. There's also little sense in cutting off trade with a country where the populace is destitute and already despises the US. China is basically one and the same with NK and if China wants to choose NK over more essential global trade interests then we should help them make that decision before the fat kid causes real trouble. China could have and should have clamped down already but they've decided to let the confrontation fester.
  14. The quote says "the" valonquar. Could be anyone's younger brother, no?
  15. I saw Naked Gun in a theatre in London when it first came out. I was there with a few American friends and we laughed our asses off through the entire movie. We were the only ones because the Brits didn't think the scenes with the Queen were funny and they didn't understand any of the baseball jokes. That was one of my all time favorite movie experiences. This list was compiled from votes of an international panel of critics. I think if it were US votes only, then it would have fared better. And personally, I think each of the Mel Brooks films should have been higher. If South Park made it on reputation, then the Simpsons movie should be right next to it. Two that I don't see on the list and should have made the cut are Defending Your Life, and Ace Ventura.
  16. If you substitute "dollars" for "rats", then this sounds like a Madoff sales pitch.
  17. You think that's bad. Imagine if they studied wives.
  18. Spoiler alert: no Ernest Goes to Camp on the list!
  19. So you're saying the Champions League is like the Tony Awards of soccer?
  20. A lot of old movies on this list. People around here like to discuss lists and rankings and movies... http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20170821-the-100-greatest-comedies-of-all-time
