Does it look like he's playing like a second round pick? The guy is making $2.5 million base salary and the Bills can exercise a fifth year if they want. He's good against the run and can get to the QB often enough. He's slow off the snap and he hasn't been on the field enough, I suppose. You've got to give him more time and you're not going to get his quality in return.

I think probably he sought out the new Saudi leadership after he saw the handwriting on the wall (probably figured the results of the purge was to make SA much stronger) and his jilted rebels didn't take it kindly. He saw that there was probably a power shift. That's what changed. The way it was reported, there was a battle and he was a casualty. I think his old buddies came looking for him and found him. And I doubt that Iran is weeping over it. The part I think is being overblown is when you read that the rebels somehow got stronger over this.

I'm not sure what you mean by democratic norms but things seem to be going along like they've been since Obama got into office and the Democrats controlled both houses. I think choosing the right veterans to mix into the prospects is important. I think the salary floor has something to do with the problem. I'm not singling anyone out but bad decisions on guys like Gorges and Moulson went a long way. I'd rather see younger legs make mistakes than old overpaid guys try to keep up. I know it can't be done, but I'd like to see the entire Amerks team brought up for the whole month of January. Have the current Sabres roster (whoever is eligible) switched down to the farm for a month.
