  1. Obviously it's an invite to the post-funeral brunch at the local VFW. The Bushes couldn't invite everyone.
  2. ...or their dead father's casket had just passed by them.
  3. They're winning without a good goaltender. Just when they may fall apart (which isn't happening) their backstop will be back.
  4. That areticle isn't any more stupid or smart than what anyone else has to offer on what the hell is going on.
  5. Yes, and the hike in prices that set off the protests amount to about $0.25/gallon of diesel. Those protests ain't about $0.25/gallon of diesel gas. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-46437904 The decision to impose a further increase of 6.5 cents on diesel and 2.9 cents on petrol from 1 January 2019 was seen as the final straw for the protesters. I'm waiting for someone to tie Trump's pullout of the Paris Accord to the Paris protests. Because of Trump, Europe has to actually pay for it's own green energy initiatives.
  6. Instead of canning him before he became eligible (like McCabe), they let him get to 20 years and retire.
  7. Looks like they were trying to re-create some Harry Potter battle scene without special effect (and short wands).
  8. Beto is not going to wait until 2024 if this continues to be the message out of Iowa. And if some Dem wins in 2020, then Beto's got to wait until 2028. The problem with Beto not waiting is that no other candidate will just step aside to let him in. The run up to 2020 is going to be supremely entertaining. https://www.wsj.com/articles/iowa-democrats-say-they-want-generational-change-1543833001
  9. For some reason, I've always thought putting a forward at the point on the power play was a mistake. It's like they aren't used to seeing the play from there. Also ( in recent games -- I'm not watching tonight), they've got Eichel way out by the boards at the top of the circle. He can't do anything effective from there. Too far out for a pass across the slot, and too far out to fool a goalie.
  10. These are just Ben's scouts. When they don't come reporting back to Ben, Ben comes looking for them. Get out now.
  11. Each goalie is keeping this game close, in different ways. Big difference this year is the Sabres goalie is good enough that they can get away with sloppy play against a better team.
  12. I liked his game a lot last year, too. I don't think so, but maybe he was a standout among a dreary roster. I've been waiting for him to get back, but wonder who's going to be bumped if he ever does come back. I wonder if his "indefinite" status means January, or even just before the trade deadline. If he goes to the third line, he might replace a guy who's not a good fourth line fit. If he goes to the fourth line, he may have to bump a guy who's playing well. If he plays well, then the team has trade bait (him or someone who's game is like his). Nice problem to have.
  13. Honest question: is he getting $14 million American dollars in Arizona vs $14 million Canadien dollars in Toronto? And I think he'd be able to recoup a good chunk of ancillary revenue being home in Az. And I'm not sure how much an American player gets endorsements in Canada.
  14. You forgot "mer" or "mers". Like Pominville is Pommer or Pommers. Edit: I've got nothing else to say about this team. I don't know how to refrain from complaining. Just trying to relax a bit and enjoy a 10 game streak, but I'm jittery and nervous. If they beat TB and then Toronto next week, I will be unconscious.
  15. Not even if it were a pizzelle iron? How about they tweak it a little to look more like a panini press? Can you go for that?
  16. I honestly see him coaching the Jets next season. Bowles is toast, and Marrone will probably try a second time to wrangle his way to NY.
  17. He admits to being the son of a mailman? Who's the "father" that raised him? All I remember about Kasich's primary run is that he played the nice guy/middle ground hand. Everyone ignored him until it was down to the last three, and then when the attention was turned on him, everyone seemed to notice that he's never going to be President. What I remember more about Kasich is the fact that ever since he dropped out of the primaries, he's been a sore loser b-itch.
  18. Now I know what the loner at the end of the bar is muttering to himself.
  19. That was pretty funny. I've been living down here in Jets country for a long time now. Two things are true: (1) Jets fans are bizzaro-world Bills fans. This was confirmed that Thursday night (first color rush game) when all the colorblind NFL fans couldn't tell the team's apart. (2) Jets fans are ALWAYS shocked and pissed off when their team loses to the Bills. It never, ever gets old.
