Questions About the OL to those who have...
MattyT replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't seen Peters play yet, but is there a possibility that he could play FB? -
Milloy out a WHILE...maybe the season
MattyT replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sad, but true. Still a fun player to watch tho'. -
Sounds like your feeling a little shellshocked from your previous Quincy Carter thread. You got beat up pretty bad. Take it easy man. I have responded to Rudy with reason in the past and it is a ridiculous waste of time. He posts outright lies and BS. Half of the threads can't even be taken seriously. I mean really....what good is a "COY WIRE SUCKS" thread?" Once he posts something that can be taken seriously then I will respond with a serious statement. Did I NEED to post a sarcastic comment? No...but it sure made me feel better.

Marathon Intruder gets only $3600 fine
MattyT replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, but how much is that in drachmas? -
Yeah. Hey, I haven't even been able to find preseason stats for THIS year let alone 2003.

Hey Brandon - It's an "urban explorer" who is part of a larger group of people @ The Jinx Project who basically "tour" bridges, rooftops, and abandoned tunnels and buildings. Check out the photos on the site...pretty friggin cool. Anyway, I saw this picture of a guy standing on the guardrail at the top of the MetLife building (60 or some odd stories up) in front of the Chrysler building in the Time Out NY magazine (NYC's version of Rochester's Freetime) and I think its one of the coolest photographs I've ever seen. I've got a book (currently on loan) that I can get to you if you are interested. Edit: Here's a link directly to a similar pic MetLife/Chrysler Bldg and one of a guy climbing the Manhattan Bridge

Easy there. It's a bad idea because why trade a draft pick when we can get an equally marginal quarterback for a few hundred thousand? Anyway...TB will be back in a month or so, which makes the whole scenario moot IMO.

Who cares about Travis Brown,,,ummm MILLOY?
MattyT replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brilliant post. If you had read the Lenny P. article you would have answered your own question. He will likely be starting and wearing a soft cast. Now go back in your hole of negativity. -
Whoa. I just noticed this. Milloy says he should be ready for the opener.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=1871103 Len P. Says Shane Matthews is top candidate for backup.

The previous people who posted this haven't taken me up on my offer yet, but I've got shiny new Brolex watch to sell you. Let me know if you're interested.

McGahee is no better than our backup
MattyT replied to 4everBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another pointless argument. Here's a newsflash...they both play for the team that you all root for!!! They are both assets to this team...why is it important that we pigeonhole one or the other as a starter? They will both see time and they will both have successes and failures. There will be weekends this season where each (or both) of them will be heroes or goats. Why the need to take sides? (At least until next year, when we are looking to trade one of them.) Pleeze!!!! Enjoy what we've got now! There are serious weaknesses on this team that need to be addressed. Let's not B word and moan about one of our strengths. -
Wow...Jerry Sullivan very harsh on Bills
MattyT replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You forgot botched trick plays. -
I believe it, unless we get a decent veteran backup. Bledsoe is the key to our success...healthy or not. Before Losman was injured I would've said that we *might* have had a better chance with someone else if Bledsoe went down, but that's kinda shot now.
-
I've got a watch to sell you. Sure it says Brolex, but it's REAL SHINY!
-
Not sure about Rattay...wasn't he slated as the starter before his injury... and if he is injured...would we want him? Wallace seems to be having a good preseason and would be a good QB to have for long term, but then we'd have a conflict of interest with Losman. We'd be best served by a vetran caretaker with something left in the tank. I'm thinking someone in the model of Redman (who was unjustafiably forced out by Billick IMO), Hasselbeck, Peete, or Huard. That said, we're still basically picking the pig wearing the most lipstick.

These paragraphs hurt like a hangover. There is so much wrong here that I don't know where to start. Jad1 covers a lot of these inaccuracies but let me add... + Our record last year and the imbalance in performance between the offensive and defensive sqads is proof that Gilbride's ideas were completely wrong for this team. Maybe it will work for the Giants, but more than likely Coughlin will take a stand against Gilbride after a few weeks and will right the ship (unlike GW). + Our offensive line is at a state right now where shorter dump off plays and passes are a necessity. We can't defend our QB well enough to allow him to take those shots downfield. Unfortunately, Drew is a long ball throwin' kind of guy so we need to do one of two things to have any success. 1) Keep a shambles of an Oline but get a QB that can run a short game (ala Brady) or 2) Fortify the Oline and use Drew the way the football gods indended. + The comments completely ignore the running game. With Gilbride is that a suprise? He never got the message that the run sets up the pass and that short sustained drives don't have to consist of mostly passes. Running the ball greatly reduces the likelihood of a bad penalty, sack, or dropped pass (obviously). -
I would say Zolman.
-
First of all let me say that this thread is a trainwreck and I shouldn't even get involved. Second, I think that he was just saying that we are already shorthanded with picks next year so our remaining picks would probably be better spent on actual prospects rather than a backup QB. Enjoy the mess.

Interesting observations from the Indy Game
MattyT replied to Fan in San Diego's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I knew that Williams was also undersized (wasn't sure if he was bigger or smaller than Simonton), but I threw in the "and plays like it" because Williams seems to play much bigger than he is (kinda like Henry). Either way, I think the 3rd spot is in pretty good hands. -

While we're talking about the O-line...might as well mention the play that impressed me the most. Lawrence Smith (moving like a cat) jumping on a fumble about 10 yards down the field from where he had just previously tossed his defender. Also, Shaud Williams WILL make the team as the 3rd RB. Simonton will be cut again for being undersized (and playing like it). -

Interesting post. Let me add....I only want to call the plays that will give us a win. But not if they make us lose. -
Last night I was thinking about this and decided that it is a combination of #2 and the fact that they are running an offense that may have only one or two checkdowns. They are probably trying to get the ball to the primary receiver and then the HB or TE as part of the coaches plan to get the ball out of the QBs hand faster and take pressure off of the O-line. Why they aren't making Evans the primary receiver more frequently can be attributed to them playing possum. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
